WHAT IS A DEERSSERT?
Deerssert are a mystical, mythological species that appear in history every so often. Sightings grew sparser and sparser through the years, but now they've started to appear more and more. Here at the HQ, a centre dedicated to keeping these creatures from being hunted, we cannot foster them all-- and that's where you come in!

The simplest way to explain them? Deersserts are deer with a twist! While the specifics vary from deer to deer, they all have a few things in common. Deersserts have muscle, skin, fur and bone, but they are described as tasting like sweets. Their scent lingers so much that hides carry a fragrant scent even after death. Instead of fluffy tails, they have a pouf of whipped cream or ice cream [depending on the deer!] with some manner of fruit on top.

Size-wise, they're about the size of a border collie, but have been known to grow to the size of a horse in rare cirucmstances. [In even rarer circumstances, they have gotten bigger. This is the largest deerssert known.] Likewise, they are born as small as a full-grown rabbit, and some never progress past this size.

She was beautiful, yet fierce. She was full of contradictions and hypocrisies and yet Abidah found himself drawn to her, the goddess of spring, the protector of the eternal tree. She had the power to give life, to take life - she fascinated him to no end. He may be the god of wisdom but he had no idea of how to approach her, and actively avoided the truth within his own heart. He swore that he would keep to himself, that love would just be a distraction. He would not approach her, he would not even try to become friends with her. He kept this promise to himself, but the two still found themselves together.

"What....what is this?" The elder god groaned in pain, fluttering down from his nest. He crashed into snow soiled ground, body to weak for a proper landing. His life force was draining, and he hadn't even noticed until now. Had it been that long? Had he gotten that distracted? His wings fluttered one last time before flopping into the snow, a chill running down his spine. He was too weak to call to the giver, would she get there in time? his inner turmoil of moping was cut short by a feminine voice.

"Hello?" a voice called, one so bittersweet. He hadn't heard her voice in awhile, hadn't gazed upon her fresh beauty in decades. She came into view, trudging through the snow with great difficulty. Not many of the gods chose to stay in such extreme and rigid environments. "Abidah" she smiled, and it immediately warmed his frigid heart. "Look how old you've gotten! You should have called sooner" she teased as she came to his side. A glistening raspberry red apple tucked between her horns. With great care she helped him to his feet, and placed his apple at his feet. "Now, hurry up and eat before you turn to dust" she giggled, a symphony to his ears.

A smile graced his lips, a foreign feeling bubbling in his feathered chest. He ate his apple, a red glittering gust of snow surrounding him in a whirlwind. He could feel the aches rise from his body and release into the night air as the wind died down. He took a deep breath, feeling young and refreshed again. "Thank you, again, Idun" his voice came out meekly.

The doe fiddled with the beads wrapped around her antlers, untangling a simple red bracelet. "I, uh" it was her time to be shy, as she slowly met his eyes. "I worry about you, you always forget to call to me when you're ill. I made you this" she slowly reached forward and wrapped it around his ankle. He stared down at it in awe. "Whenever you're weak I will feel it through this, and I can come before it gets this bad" she explained in a rush.

"I love it" He murmured, a heat rising through his feathers. "I, um, will make sure I keep in better contact" he nodded, trying to sound responsible.

"I'd like that very much, Abi" She grinned, nudging him with her muzzle. She turned and began her journey back to the life tree, Abidah watching her as she disappeared into the night. The snow enclosed him but his heart was far too warm, a familiar heat radiating from the bracelet. The bracelet she gave him. The bracelet that made him break his promise.
