Large, meat-eating beasts, Lost River Perytons posses the forelimbs, body, and head of a deer
and the hind of a bird. They work as pack hunters, and are incredibly dangerous to meet outside
of a controlled setting. Perytons communicate with eerie clicks, whistles, and croons, and cast
the shadow of a man up until they kill a human. Males tend to have full, branching antlers, while
females have single, spike antlers. Both sexes posses razor sharp tines and jewel-colored eyes.
Perytons are tameable, and that trait is what has allowed the breed to persist for so long. In the
1940s, Perytons were sought out and killed to near extinction, but thanks to a small niche of
breeders, they were able to come back. Perytons are still endangered in the wild, but thrive in
captivity.
Before the attempt to tame even a domestic born Peryton is allowed, the Peryton must kill a
person at least once in their lifetime. Upon doing so, their shadow will resemble their true form.
Thankfully, the old practice of allowing them to kill people has long since been abandoned and
Perytons, while intelligent, are able to be tricked into thinking they’ve done so, rendering them
safe to tame and approach.
Perytons bond to one rider only in their lifetime, but riders should still exercise extreme caution
around the beasts. One rider can bond to multiple Perytons, and it’s encouraged that they do, as
Perytons are better kept in herds.

- CS rules apply.
- Respect staff members and other members of the community, and do not act with anger or bias.
- All artists automatically have moderating privileges. Listen to them when they tell you to stop something.
- Do not harass, bug, bribe, whine, or guilt-trip. Do not rush the artists.
- Art theft is not tolerated.
- Do not beg for customs, breedings, or special treatment.
- Everyone should be treated equally, with equal opportunities.
- Customs are only given away as prizes. Do not ask for one.
- Those who harass, bribe, and beg will be given a strike. Reaching a second strike means you will be banned from all Peryton activities (adopts, competitions, breedings, etc.) for a month. A third strike means you are banned.
- If you are banned, you may keep the Perytons you already have, but you may not apply for more adopts, send in breedings, or otherwise interact with the community.
- LR Perytons cannot be sold, but may be gifted away to another user, traded for another Peryton, or readopted.
- LR Perytons cannot be traded for another species.
- There is currently no limit to the amount of Perytons you may have.

- Judge fairly and honestly, without bias.
- Do not accept bribes.
- If a customer is begging, harassing, or otherwise pestering you, report them immediately to me.
- If you cannot find the times to judge a competition, you may talk to me. Either I will judge it or we’ll find someone who can do it for you.
- You are allowed to give runner-ups, but please give more shoutouts than RUs. Shoutouts are an honorable mention system. Each person is allowed only 1 shoutout.
- Legendaries only show up every fifty adopts, if you would like to do one, please message me. This is on a first-come-first-serve basis, but I may make exceptions (twin adopts, mini-event, etc.)
- Large events should be planned as a group, with my permission to go ahead. However, if you would like to do a small set of themed adopts, please feel free to do so!
- You’re allowed one custom a month, and may give it away if you wish. You are allowed only one legendary custom, and may not give that one away.
- Other then that, you have free reign to do whatever you’d like. When in doubt, ask!
