when you drop a penny into a mixture of luminol, ammonia, hydrogen
peroxide and water, the penny then starts to glow eerily blue,
and if you move it it gives off a little trail,

I'll just choose Argon.
It's one of the noble gases, and is placed as atomic number 18 on the periodic table. It is one of the most abundant gases in Earth's atmosphere. Its name comes from a Greek word, ἀργόν, which means "lazy" and "inactive", because it cannot undergo very many chemical reactions.
It is a colourless gas, but it will give off a purplish glow when it is in an electric field.
It's pretty cool.
