what have they rescued? ;;
he takes the creature in his mouth- gently, very gently, as not to break its baby bones- and deposits it on dry land. there is water, dripping from his fur and out of its mouth, cold and salty and not good. he worries for the creature, feather light and stick thin, and cradles it close to the thick warmth of his fur.
the creature does not move. it's tiny skinny chest is still, death-still, same for its tiny eyes and spindly limbs, and that is concerning. he quietly hopes it is not dead. it is too young for dead.
he presses his nose to the thin paper skin of its chest and feels it's toothpick ribs. he presses down, light, barely enough for hummingbird heartbeats to begin within that delicate ribcage. the creature makes a noise, vomits water, and shivers.
isaac simply snuggles it closer, keeps it warm, and smiles.
