Bedtime ritual:

Outside, living room, kitchen, stairs, hallway, balcony, bedroom.
It was his nightly routine, a perfectly laid-out path set before he would retreat to his room.

As a child, Jack feared the darkness. He hated to have the house unlit in the middle of the night - it was a perfect recipe for robbers, or so the movies and the television would say. He incessantly requested to have at least soft yellow lights for each night to scare off unwanted guests, whether they were spirits or people. When his parents realized their son couldn't sleep with the thought of darkness in his comfort of a home, they were forced to install these lights. Each room in the house then had a sort-of night light, asides from the bright fluorescent light turned on every morning and afternoon.

Of course, Jack wouldn't have known his path without discovering what the problem was in the first place. The first few months, his parents would be in charge turning on the night lights around the house, because they slept later than Jack. Eventually, Jack came out and said he felt uneasy not being reassured whether the night lights were actually turned on or not, so he insisted that he do it instead so he was sure ("If it makes you sleep at night...", responded his parents). A series of misfortunes every night then commenced: not knowing the order in which to turn of the lights, Jack was subject to unlucky situations. At first, he turned on the kitchen night lights before the living room's, and a rat dashed across the room and he screamed. Another time, he forgot to turn on the one in the balcony before the bedroom, and he accidentally tripped on one of his toys before getting to bed. Some other night, he turned on the ones by the hallway before heading towards the stairs, and he dropped and broke the glass of water he was holding. With a few more trial-and-error situations, with each bad situation arising from a mistake in order, he managed to get it correctly.

Jack believed in signs, and always thought a bad juju or omen was connected to the house at night. It wasn't that big of a deal like those in horror movies and shows, but if there was any spirit out there watching him, he hoped it slept peacefully every time Jack did it right.

sterne has a very peculiar bedtime routine. being a mystical komo, they take everything into
consideration - the lining of the planets, position of the moon, astral signs - in order for their
routine to be as healthy as possible. they take these messages from the universe and transla
tes them for their everyday necessities. for example, if jupiter was seen the previous night,
sterne knows this means they will have an intense learning experience the next day. have that
mean them teaching someone or vice versa, they are never sure, but it is a good way for the
planets to exchange messages with this astrological being.

after making sure all planets are checked, noting the alignments and soon-to-be aligned,
sterne takes care of their living things - their plants, to be exact. they own moonflowers,
euphorbia miliis, echeveria elegans, and much more. they snip off dead parts and but them
in compost for their outdoor plants - oak and weaping willow trees, bleeding hearts, and
thensome. after taking care of themself as well (pj's, teeth-brushing, tidying), they head
to their bedroom, with an elegant and radiant projection of the galaxy on the north wall.
then, they fall asleep.

bedtime ritual: A bedtime ritual? Ren scoffs at the idea. Cowards. See, where it's really at is staying up til 4 in the morning doing nothing important (probably video games, knowing Ren), then passing out and waking up around noon.

bedtime ritual: before going to bed shi goes stargazing, but only if the sky is clear enough to see them. shi will usually bring a canister of hot tea and a bundle of small cookies to enjoy as he watches the stars. after returning home shi changes into his pajamas and brushes his teeth then combs his hair. when he finally lays down to rest shi finds it hard to fall asleep so he puts on relaxing music on the radio which alows him to fall soundly asleep.
