Competition Information
Eluna is a very sweet, calm, and soft-spoken mare. She adores all foals
and cares deeply that each one goes to the perfect herd. She watches the
eggs in her care with loving attention, hoping one day that each and every
one will be adopted and hatched. She watches Meara with her little herd of
young ones and sighs to herself. She has always wanted to be a mother, but
given her status as an Alicorn, this is impossible. She would never be able to
have a foal of her own because she knows that she is incapable. She thought
a lot about adopting a foal from Meara, but never got up the courage. They
would all grow old and die, while she stayed the same. She could not bear it!
One day, Meara approached Eluna and told her something that startled the
gentle mare. "How could this have happened?" she asked. Meara just sighed
and said she had no idea how it came to pass.
One of the foals had managed to consume herbs that combined in a myst-
erious way. The foal had been nearly grown, but when the plants had time to
digest and combine, the foal had reverted back to a newly-weaned age! Meara
was concerned that the foal would have some bad side effects, but so far no-
thing else had happened. The foal was healthy other than the fact that it was
now a good two and a half years younger. When questioned, the foal insisted
that it loved the new turn of events.
Meara told all of this to Eluna. "I am afraid that this foal will never grow up,
Eluna," she finished. "I don't know what to do!"
Eluna thought about this for days before working up the courage to ask Meara
if the foal would be a fit for her to adopt herself. It was the perfect answer,
however tragic it may be. The foal would never age and die, so Eluna would
never lose them.
