Second Chance Shelter is a dog and cat rescue where you can come to find a new member of your family. We rescue and rehabilitate dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes so they may have the chance to be placed into a caring home. These two were caught together by one of the shelter's volunteers who brought them in. They caused the poor soul a bit of trouble, as they had to be housed and transported completely separately since the Shiba Inu was very aggressive to the larger Great Dane Mix. The poor big fella is skittish as all get out and seems to be more weary of the small dog than anything. We're not really sure why the little dude has such animosity towards it's bigger companion but we thing it would be good to separate them by adopting the Shiba out, since the Great Dane has found it's home with the shelter's owner.

riley is, to put it mildly, overdramatic.
she despises bruce because of a collection of small things -
he accidentally stepped on her paw, he got too close when she
was eating, he tried playing with her favorite toy, he ate from
her food bowl. none of these reasons should cause her to hate
him, but, though she would never admit it, she's secretly jealous
of his size. her medium-sized-dog status infuriates her sometimes,
especially when she's around other dogs that are larger than her.
despite her not-so-huge stature, riley has a huge personality, and
will not hesitate to snap or growl at a larger dog, no matter how
intimidating they may be.

as his previous owner ((an elderly man with dementia)) never took
him to the dog park or to see other dogs and never really took him
to meet any other dogs, he was extremely aggressive when bruce
tried to befriend him. cairo tends to be very threatening when not
given enough attention or having to share with other animals, especially
bigger dogs, whom he feels threatened by.

Reason: He hates Bruce because Bruce reminds him of his older brother Birdie who sadly pasted away. Hunter and Birdie were very close. They lived together on the streets when their only other family member ( their father) no longer wanted to care for them. So when Hunter saw Bruce he instantly reminded him of his brother. He nips and growls at Bruce out of fear, that Bruce too will end up dieing just like his brother, so Hunter really loves Bruce he just doesn't like people to know about his feelings.

Reason: Shelia is a little prissy lady. Long story short, shes thinks shes too good for him. She dosesn't exactly hate him, or more didn't. Shelia was less than happy to be brought to the shelter and sees it as Bruce's fault that she was brought here. Once she realizes that she'll be rehomed somewhere where she will be spoiled, she'll probably hate him a little less. Her other reason for disliking Bruce is that she wanted to boss him around, and she didn't understand why he wasn't listening to her when she would tell him what to do. Secretly, she just really wants a ride on his back, but she refuses to admit it.
