Hazard Cats are long legged felines with quite a few robotic qualities.
Their tails are about the length of their body, split into two pieces,
and connected by some form of energy. The glass screens on their
chest are most commonly known to show a heartbeat, but many other
glowing images can appear there. These images mirror the cat’s
health in one way or another. Some cats have static on their screens,
but beware, those cats are as dangerous as they are rare! The picture
on the screen will always match the color of the cat’s eyes, which
typically have hollowed pupils. Hazards have three eyes, but the center
one is almost always covered with a band-aid or something similar.
This is because of the often dangerous powers that are channeled
through the third eye. Grates on the cats’ sides aid in breathing and
can also emit a steam, sound and mist, as well as a strange goo.
Their large ears allow them to hear potential prey miles away and make
them skilled trackers, but they are easily overwhelmed by too much
noise. Thanks to their strong legs, Hazard cats can reach speeds up to
fifty miles per hour and leap near ten feet up.

How they Cope: Ever since he was a baby hazard, he dreamed of being a pirate! He adored the stories and movies depiciting pirates to be brave travellers who rode the seas. When he lost his vision in that eye, he didn't take it too hard - he claimed it was a sign that the world wanted him to be the best pirate captain he could be! He's just gotta get a crew now...

How they Cope:
Whenever Jer feels really stressed, he'll put on plays for his fellow Hazards. He loves the concept of acting and becoming someone completely new. He takes his roles in his plays very seriously as he wants to give his fellow Hazards the best show possible. Jeremy loves to express himself through these different characters that he has created in his mind. They give him strength to work his way through being half blind. He wrote his own play called Oasis, in which he played one of his favorite characters yet. A wayfinding prophet looking for a lost city. He'll retreat to a shady place to write lines for scripts or design new characters of his own. Even with his blindness he still loves putting on these plays, no matter if he can't see.

Kale can create a projection that makes the immediate area look like an anaglyph 3D image (example: eyestrain warning). The intensity of the effect ranges from barely noticeable to completely disorienting, allowing him to him to use it as both a way of defending himself and as a neat parlor trick to show off to his friends. Kale finds his power rather ironic considering that being blind in one eye means he can't even use 3D glasses, but he takes it in stride nonetheless.
How they Cope:
He doesn't, really. At least not from his perspective. Kale has been half-blind from birth. He's never known life any other way so he doesn't see (ha) his impaired sight as tragic or something he needs to cope with. Sure, there are some things he has to do differently from other cats, but Kale just considers it a different way of life than a method of coping.
Personality: Full of spirit, good humor, and terrible jokes, Kale is a cat who's careful to never take life too seriously. He's something of an entertainer, often seeking to delight or impress. However, it'd be a mistake to call him a people pleaser. Though he does help out others when he can, he's not the most dependable of folks. Personal freedom is an important value to Kale and he doesn't like having to worry about obligations. He's certainly a Hazard of fancy, preferring to act on passing whims than upholding solid plans.

How they Cope: Ryder used to live near a river and his family usually caught fish for food. This was hard for him, as fishing relied on vision to spot the fish and catch it. When Ryder became older, he ventured out to a nearby forest and decided to try hunting there. This was much easier, because Ryder mainly uses his sense of hearing and smell to know where prey is. It can still be tough, but it's a lot better than fishing. Ryder likes to go to that forest and hunt for his family, and is planning to live there once he's old enough.
