So, what are these things?

"Half-Light Hunters" are a sentient feline
species about the size of an ocelot. They have a couple of very
distinct traits, the main one being bioluminescent fur. Certain spots on
their coat will glow in the moonlight - only the moonlight brings out these
hidden markings. They seem closely tied to the moon in general, becoming
sluggish and grumpy at a new moon, and having loads of energy when it is
full. Future owners should be aware of this!

Species Traits

☽ ☾

Size

★ Half-Light Hunters are about four feet from nose to tail tip; most of this is
the tail. The fact that is so long gives the cats excellent balance. They are
much more flexible and agile than their domestic cousins.

Behavior

★ If you plan to adopt one, you should know that Rune Cats can be worse than
ravens when it comes to shiny objects. They love collecting and hoarding
jewelry and random trinkets. Beads, feathers, colored rocks, flowers, and
seashells are often found tucked away in hunter dens. Special pieces of
jewelry are often passed down through generations.

Fur

★ Half-Light hunters coats contain a special chemical reactive
to moonlight. It is only found on certain areas on the body, and is genetic.
We still don't know much about this, but the hairs that glow at
night are transparent in the daytime.
A kit might have similar night markings to its great grandfather - the moonblazes are clues to ancestry.

Hunting

★ Half-Light Hunters are semi-nocturnal, but prefer to hunt at night. Because
the glowing fur makes nighttime hunting alone difficult, Rune Cats usually
live in large groups, and use the glow to their advantage. Lone hunters have
a hard time, but they can also manage.

Activity

★ During a full moon, Rune Cats are at their peak physically and mentally. They
often stay up all day and night on the full moon. Their glow is also the brightest.
During the new moon, their eyes and fur do not glow at all. They usually try to
sleep through the entire thing.

2. Just be courteous in general. Don't complain if you don't win
3. When you win a hunter, it is yours. You can draw it, role play, trade it for other hunters, or sell it. But do not change the species or moonblaze.
4. This is a closed species. Don't make your own.

FAQ



How can I become a staff member?
★ If you want to be an artist, you can tryout at the artist search.
If you would like another staff position, you need to wait until applications are open.
You can see this at the bottom of the staff post.

Can I breed my hunters?
★ Yes! The nursery is not up yet, but it will be soon!

How do I get seashells?
★ As of right now, you can only get seashells for being a runner up in a contest.
They are a prize that goes to people who worked hard on their forms, but did not win.

What can I do with my hunter?
★ When you when a hunter, it is yours!
You may sell, gift, trade, and breed your hunters - just notify me first!
You may use your hunter as your fursona.
The only rule is to not change the species.

How can I get a custom?
★ As of now, there are two ways. You can become a permanent staff member, or save up 15 seashells.

What changes can I make to my hunter?
★ Only mutations and edits found in the store. You can buy these with seashells.

Tips


Here are some tips on how to win hunters:

★ Pretty up forms!

The forms are just the bare bones; as long as you include the necessary
information, you can go crazy. Even something as simple as changing the
color on your form can tip the balance in your favor when it comes to
judging. I love it when people show they care enough to pretty up the forms!

And if you are the only one with art entered, you pretty much have it in the
bag. Just saying. Art also guarantees winning a seashell even if you don't win
the hunter.

Finally, if you are entering a piece of writing, don't worry about making it too
long. I read upwards of 600 words a minute with complete comprehension, and
I do read every bit of what you write.

★ About seashells

Seashells are awarded in proportion to the contest; for example, a funny gif contest.
If you don't win but have a really funny gif, you can get shells.
An impress me is the same way;
if only one user impressed me, no shells will be awarded.

Seashells

Sometimes these contests are super hard to judge.
Many entries can be done with an incredible amount of care and
thought. But only one person can be awarded the hunter. So that
is why I have some perks for those who worked hard on their forms,
but did not win. Seashells!
Half-Light Hunters treasure these rare trinkets, and they are the
currency in their world.

You can trade seashells for several things -

★ A full custom hunter - 15
★ Add any accessory or piece of jewelry to your hunter - 2
★ Add an extra kit to a litter - 3
★ Add a major* line edit to your hunter - 5
★ Add a minor** line edit - 1
★ Add a pet/companion critter - 4

* Excludes things that are not related to the species, such as wings.
Ok edits include multiple tails, long fur, smaller ears, etc. Pm me for
questions.

** Things like long claws, different eye shapes, and scars.
