What happened to him, how did he get so wounded?:I was thinking he might of been injured by a trap that he was trying to escape, a trap set by hunters trying to get Oxirie's for their horns

What happened to him, how did he get so wounded?: he challenged a rival male to take over a herd of females. After a intense fight, he unfortunately lost. Shalamar is now going to bear those scars for the rest of his life

Asterix isn't what you would call a fighter but he does care deeply for others and will defend them when needed. He unfortunately managed to get on the wrong side of the large male in his herd when defending his sister whom he was rather close too. This resulted in not only a beating from the male but being outed from the herd.
