STORY wrote:Sorcha was born and raised living between twin mountains and the ocean, in a simple forest and plains placed directly between the two. The humans called the mountains 'Heavens gate', as when you look upon the mountains, during the time of sunrise, the mountains indeed seemed to lead right to heaven. Sorcha was well known by the humans whom lived in the village beyond the mountains, as they occasionally took to the ocean for fishing. Most avoided her forest all together, but others liked to toss 'offerings' inside the forest in hopes of being granted safe passage or a good day of fishing. If one had a good day of fishing they would yet again leave offerings, as a thank you to the 'spirit' that lived within the forest. Sorcha is no spirit, though, merely a simple creature whom seeks only to protect those inside her forest from the disrespectful hunters that occasionally enter it. Where most humans respected the forest, there were few, those who did not belong to the nearby village, who came to trap, deforest, and outright disrespect and trash Sorcha's home. During all times of intrusion Sorcha faced these people with the tactics of frightening them. Humans are dreadfully afraid of the supernatural, and with a little coaxing, it took little effort to make the humans believe she was some malevolent spirit out for their blood. Few times did she ever have to actually encounter the humans in a head on fight.
One of these times, though, resulted in her capture. A fierce man, ragged and stinking of filth and death, had come to her forest. It was clear, fairly quickly, that this was not a man whom believed in the supernatural. He had come here with a purpose, and that purpose was to capture Sorcha. For a long while Sorcha watch the man, though her typical tactics did not seem to frighten him, she could not tell what he was doing, as he came only during the night. Three times he came, wandering through her forest and looking things over, touching her beloved home with his filthy hands. Crushing flowers, little saplings, even killing a fox, whom Sorcha knew to have kits in a den nearby. It was the death of the fox that caused anger to flare up in Sorcha, leaving her so infuriated with the human man that she forgot reason and simply sought to defend her home and those in it.
Sorcha had aimed to attack the man, though what she had not seen him doing was placing traps. The man having used the darkness to conceal every trap that he place. He knowingly backed away from her, easily stepping away from several of the traps he had placed, only to guide the unknowing Sorcha right into one. As she step on the trigger, she heard the click, then the snap, then the pain hit her. The jaw trap closing around her leg and a loud cry emitting from Sorcha, who instantly try to free her leg, only to find the man's foot situated on top of a chain, which had been hidden under the leaves. A wicked grin stretch over the man's face. " Tol' ya, boys...We gon be rich, now..." His gruff voice spoke, several laughing men emerging from the darkness behind him, slapping him on the back. "Ain't no beast safe from you, boss!" Spoke one of the men as they all began to take ropes from pouches at their side. " Aye! Betche could lasso a drag'n if'n they was real!" The men began to argue over the idea of dragons being real or make believe, all the while tossing rope over and around Sorcha, tangling her into a massive heave and pinning her to the earth. When they saw that she would not cease her struggle, one of the men look to their boss, whom nodded, the man soon after using a stick he had found to knock Sorcha in the head until she fell unconscious.
Two long weeks Sorcha rode in the back of a cart, smashed into a tiny cage. She had chewed through the rope that bound her paws, but the bars of the cage were metal, she could not escape. Her fur was caked with blood, her paw was damaged, and the humans only gave her enough food and water to keep her alive, but weak enough that she would not be a danger to them when the time came to remove her. It was close to the beginning of her third week of travel that Sorcha caught sight of something new following the cart. The humans did not seem to notice yet, their backs turned to the shadows that follow behind them. The humans had entered into a new forest, clearly close to their destination, as they were all growing much more comfortable and relaxing more. It made it easy, then, for the two hidden figures to ambush them. They had waited until nightfall, when the men were winding down and taking shifts to sleep. No warnings were given, as those that were set to watch were easily disposed of. Right into the sleeping pit of males pounce a massive green and brown beast. Sorcha had never seen a viscet before, but the male was much larger than the humans. A loud screech emit from the male, startling the humans awake. The viscet made quick work of several of the humans, using his tail to sweep several off their feet. The second, a black female viscet with a horn, joined him soon after. Whacking one of the humans in the head with a rock.
The boss, whom was sleeping in the cart with Sorcha, had quickly loaded his gun, which he kept beside him as he slept. Before he could aim, though, Sorcha yelp "Watch out!" The green viscet look up, only to catch the male aiming at the black viscet, whom he use his tail to sweep her off her feet as he had the humans. The large hunting gun had been aimed once more, the humans shouting for the boss, both the fire and to cease fire, not wanting to get shot in stead of the beasts. The boss ready to pull the trigger before a roar emit from behind the cart. A new, undiscovered, massive beast joined the fray, now. Brown and green, with a massive moose skull mask decorating his face. The site alone had caused the few humans who remain to scatter, shouting about undead creatures in the forest. The boss was all that was left standing, his gun soon after aimed towards the new, charging, beast. Before he could pull the trigger, though, the green and brown viscet was upon him.
After the battle was over and there were no humans to threaten them, the two viscets seemed to have a very uncomfortable stand off with the skull masked creature. The brown and green viscet seemed to insist on protecting the black horned one, though everything seemed to calm down after a single name was thrown into the mix. 'Noah'. The air had instantly relaxed, causing a tense, and very weak, Sorcha, to collapse to the bottom of her cage. Hunger and exhaustion hit her hard, leaving darkness taking her not moments after she saw all three of the creatures glance her way.
When she woke she found herself inside of a human structure, her paw tended to sometime while she had slept. Apparently the 'Noah' she had heard mentioned before had tended to her as she had slept, her paw bandaged, as well as the wound on her head that had never been tended to after the human struck her. She was cleaned up, no more blood covering her lovely white fur. Her hair had even been brushed, as she later learned, by Danika, the black horned Viscet. Danika and Keanu, the moose skull masked creature, were the ones whom fed and tended to her much of the time, though Keanu left her more than Danika. The large female viscet seemed so very concerned for Sorcha's health, that at times she wondered if she had met her before. She knew no others who would care for her as a friend, as Danika was. Loa and Noah were the ones to fetch herbs, Noah typically being the one to create the ointments to cover her wounds with.
Sorcha spent several weeks being tended to and healing, as much as she had wanted to rise and move around, Danika had not wanted her to do so, and Noah seemed to simply agree with Danika that rest was what Sorcha needed at the moment. As frustrating as it was, Sorcha did as she was told, feeling no need to cause undue stress to those whom had rescued her. Once the time came, though, that Danika and Noah seemed satisfied with how Sorcha had healed up, Noah agreed that Danika could take Sorcha on a supervised walk around his forest. Danika and Sorcha were able to talk for quite a while, and it was then that Sorcha realized that she was quite enjoying the company of Danika. Though she found herself more irritated with Loa, Noah and Keanu were not two that she ever got to truly get to know. All four, however, were her saviors, and she owed them a debt.
Once she was completely healed, or enough where she was able to walk around without assistance or supervision, she gave the four her promise to repay their debt. As much as they denied the need to, she still feels a personal obligation to these four for saving her from a life she does not want to imagine. Though she longs to return home, she feels that she can not leave the four due to her moral obligation of repaying her debt. So for now she resides with Danika in her forest, enjoying the company of the silly viscet, whom adores decorating Sorcha's hair with flowers, feathers, and sometimes even skulls and bones. As bad as the situation could have been for Sorcha, she is quite thankful, especially since she has true companions, now.
Sorcha today wrote:
Sorcha spends a great deal of time in Danika's forest. Her own forest is a great deal of distance away and currently she only left Danika once to check up on her own forest. As it turns out, the humans in the village near her forest never noticed her missing, as several of the animals of her forest banded together to create the illusion of her still being within it. Birds mimic her haunting cries to scare away others, chipmunks, squirrels, and other tiny creatures will create traps, throw rocks, and shine lights here and there to add to the idea that the forest is haunted. In her absence the animals learned to protect the forest on their own, so she is not as worried as she had originally been. Knowing that the animals can protect themselves and the forest home they live in, she is able to stay with Danika. Sorcha still feels that it is her duty to repay her debt to the four whom helped her and she does her best at repaying that debt. Danika's forest borders another human village, one that the young viscet seems particularly fond of, despite the fact that the humans of the village are very wary of Danika. Sorcha had learned quickly enough that Danika liked to snatch things from the village and occasional cart going through the forest close to where she lived. Since she couldn't convince Danika not to do these things, she ends up trying to protect her when the 'heist' goes wrong. Originally Sorcha was a little morally upset by the theft, however, she eventually convinced herself that there was no harm done, as all Danika was doing was snatching a few food items, and accessories that she adored. Danika did less in her heists than most humans did.
When she is not with Danika, Sorcha is typically patrolling the forest where she now resides, Danika's forest being just a day or so away from where Noah and Keanu live, and Loa being just a little off from that, the four of them are able to visit one another quite often. Though Sorcha is unable to preform the tasks that Noah does, having only paws and no opposable thumbs like the viscets, she does like to watch, gathering information on herbs and remedies and potions. She has learned a great deal from Noah and can locate several herbs now. She tries to busy herself with bringing him any of the few that she might be able to collect and not be hurt by if she were to pull them out of the earth with her mouth. Sorcha doesn't visit Loa much at all and only deals with him when he visits Danika or Noah. As mentioned, she isn't terribly fond of the male and she finds his constant desire to frighten her quite annoying. He seems to find her annoyance amusing, which serves to further irritate her, but she still owes him, as she does everyone else, so she tolerates him. He does, however, provide her with a very good sparring partner. Loa is a fantastic fighter and has helped keep Sorcha strong and busy in training. He does not go easy on Sorcha, and she actually appreciates that about him.
Duty rules her life and she barely ever spends much time at all where she isn't attempting to repay her debt to the four. But if she ever feels the need, she likes to go to the ocean nearest to Danika's home. There is a little cliff there which she finds perfect for stargazing or simply enjoying the ocean breeze. It breaks her heart that she can't be near the mountains like she used to, and she truly longs to return at some point. If not back to her home, then to any mountain high enough to hear the thunder bounce back and forth off of their peaks. Some may find her exceptionally boring, though she does have her moments where she will dance and play with Danika, she just finds so much solace in being alone and with her thoughts, it is the way she has always been.
