how she met her friendeveryday since mcdonalds had started to release shamrock shakes, shammy would regularly stop by and grab one. luckily the weather was quite hot in california, so it was both a refreshing and tasty drink.
yet one day, she heard on the news how a local mcdonald's hadn't recieved the supplies needed for the day from the warehouse. she immediately knew by the picture shown on the television screen that it was the one that she visited. wanting to get there early before the supplies ran out, she left her house and headed over to the fast-food restaurant.
once in the restaurant, the plumerian walked up to the cashier counter, giving a quick nod and grin to
bellatrix, who of course didn't respond to it in any words or actions.
instead, the cashier spoke, "what can i get for you today?" in a fake-friendly voice, obviously already knowing what shammy wanted.
flashing a look behind her, shammy noticed that the line was getting longer. "a shamrock shake, please," she answered with an energetic and joyful tone in her voice.
"it's the last one, we already ran out of the ingredients," bellatrix responded, handing shammy the shake. in return, she gave him the money.
turning around, shammy noticed that the plumerian who was behind her had his ears down. not in a sad way, but more of an annoyed state. he was young, like her, and she heard him mutter under his breath, "i guess i'm getting nothing, then."
as the boy started to walk off, shammy could almost feel his annoyance. but why..? she had no idea, but decided to confront the plumerian anyways.
"hey, wait," she spoke to him, and he turned around with a confused look on his face.
shammy had turned back to bellatrix and asked for a water cup, which she was then holding in her paws. she uncapped the shamrock shake she had bought, and carefully dumped about half of it into the used-to-be-empty water cup. the girl looked up and lifted her paw with the water cup to the boy plumerian.
"for you," she smiled with a wink, her heart fluttering with nervousness. was she doing the right thing? what if he didn't accept? she would be so embarrassed.
"a-are you sure?" the boy stuttered in disbelief, as he looked up at shammy with a glint of gratitude in his eyes.
"mhm!" shammy nodded, nudging the drink a bit closer to him.
"oh, well, thank you," the plumerian said with a nervous chuckle, taking the water cup in his paws.
"don't mention it," shammy grinned, glad that he had accepted the offer. she was about to speak when the voice of the cashier interrupted her.
"thank you for your service," the cashier responded in a tone that said
are you going to stand around here all day?the two children looked at eachother, blushing under their fur as they realized that the whole line was looking at them.
"oh, yes, sorry," shammy quickly replied, before walking away from the register and hearing the voice of bellatrix taking the order from the next plumerian in line.
she was about to walk out the door when this time, the boy plumerian stopped her.
"hey, um... what's your name?" he asked curiously.
"oh, i'm shammy," she introduced herself by her nickname. "you?"
"dipper," he said, "so... see you around, i guess?"
"yeah," shammy responded, pulling out one of her previously made phone number slips from her sidebag.
"give me a call, okay?" she said, dropping the slip into dipper's paw when he reached up to recieve it.
"sure," dipper grinned, stuffing it under his hat.
the two plumerians walked out of the place together, before parting directions to get back to their homes. yet they didn't stay apart. dipper had called shammy like he promised, and they have been friends ever since. they had even found out that they were in the same school and grade as eachother. it was a beautiful friendship, that started with a single shamrock shake.
