Kas stared at the cruel man he called his owner. Count Olaf was a very wicked man, constantly seeking to get the Baudelaire children's inherited fortune. It made Kas loath the eye on his leg that matched Olaf's ankle tattoo. Count Olaf had just lost the three children, Violet, Klaus, and Sunny, and he was rambling on about his next scheme to get the fortune.
"Enough," Kas snarled. "I've had it with your wicked ways, Olaf! I'm leaving this instant, and with me I will take your plans!" Quickly Kas snatched the satchel that held all of Count Olaf's books and research into the unfortunate children's gruesome situation. "Why you..." Olaf said after him.
Kas dashed through the filthy house, laughing as he escaped his life long prison. No longer would he aid the man in his journey to destroy the poor children's lives. No longer would he sit in this grimy house awaiting a future that would horrify him.
Kas's mohawk fluttered in the wind as he ran down the street. He passed Justice Strauss's house, the theatre, the marketplace, the business district, and soon came to the ashy remains of the Baudelaire mansion. He slowed as he approached the dust, letting the memories of the wondrous place flow through his paws.
As he sat where the Baudelaire's front room once was, he swore that he would help the three children in any way possible. He would use his eye for good and never turn to the dark again.
