• I'm not looking for staff such as artists or mods right now! I'm starting out kitsucorns as a solo project. I'll announce if this changes!
• Customs & MYOs aren't available unless advertised or offered.
• Breeding is sketched out for lore purposes but isn't currently available!
• The name "kitsucorn" comes from a combination of the words kitsune and unicorn! Kitsucorns actually started because I misread a word as "kitsucorn" and thought it sounded like the cutest thing... RIP me. orz
• Their looks are definitely inspired by Osamu Tezuka, Sanrio, and other retro/cute anime things!
• Species details are purposely vague to help them fit into a variety of stuff. Feel free to buck canon and anthropomorphize or otherwise AU your kitsucorn all you want, though!

How do I adopt a kitsucorn?

Kitsucorns will be posted for adoption from time to time. To win one, you may have to enter a raffle or small contest. I will try my best to keep things fair for everyone!
May I make a kitsucorn?

Kitsucorns are a closed species which means you may not make one unless you have a MYO (make-your-own) slot! If you want to adopt a kitsucorn you must wait until there are open adopts available.
What do I do with a kitsucorn?

An adopted kitsucorn is your character and you're free to do what you like with them as long as you follow the rules! Ideally you could use them for roleplaying, writing, art--whatever!

Kitsucorns are small, magical creatures which are highly adaptable and capable of thriving in many different environments. They are intelligent, sentient, and capable of speech. Although their appearance varies widely, they are recognizable by their general size, shape, and the presence of a single horn on their foreheads through with they channel their magical abilities.

Anatomy and Physical Traits

Physically, kitsucorns are fairly small, perhaps the size of a large housecat or small dog. While they may look very different from each other, their basic size and shape remain similar. It's usually pretty easy to tell a kitsucorn is a kitsucorn!

Kitsucorns come in all shapes, from the edges of their ears to the tips of their tails! Although their appearances may vary wildly, none of these are considered rarer than another. All kinds of ears, tail types, hair, and colors are common.

Kitsucorns may have either paws or hooves for feet, with neither being more unusual that the other. Occasionally, a kitsucorn may have both paws AND hooves. In this case, the paws are always on the front legs and the hooves on the back. A kitsucorn with both paws and hooves is considered uncommon.

Lastly, some kitsucorns have been seen with multiple tails. It’s unknown whether a kitsucorn is born with multiple tails, or can acquire them in a different way. (They haven’t been willing to talk about it!) Kitsucorns with multiple tails seem to have stronger magical powers. A kitsucorn with more than one tail is rare.

Impossible kitsucorn anatomy includes kitsucorns with multiple horns, kitsucorns with both paws and hooves where the paws are not on the front legs and the hooves are not on the back legs, as well as kitsucorns with multiple tails of different types.

Habits and Habitat

Highly adaptable, kitsucorns make their homes in all kinds of climates and situations. They may live in groups in a forest or swamp, in an established village with houses and shops, or alone on top of a snowy mountain! Oftentimes kitsus will stick to one location, kind of like a territory. They’re often very attached to their homes and like to keep them well-maintained. However, wandering kitsucorns with no territory are not unheard of.

Kitsucorns are omnivorous, with diets including fruit, veggies, nuts, grains, and even sometimes bugs and meat! For many kitsucorns, these would be consumed raw, but some more advanced pockets of society have even taken up cooking food and making sweets!

Many kitsucorns are social and benign, living in groups and taking care of nature around them. Some live in villages that work as a more advanced society with many roles to play. Many enjoy making new friends! However, there are some kitsucorns that delight in being tricksters or even downright malevolent, participating in activities like luring travellers astray with their magic.

Horns and Charms

All kitsucorns posses a single horn on their forehead. It's through their horn that they channel their magic! Kitsucorns never have multiple horns, but their horn may come in a variety of shapes and colors. A kitsucorn’s horn is extremely tough, and there are no kitsucorns known with a broken horn. It’s thought that if their horn were to be broken off or damaged, it would cause the death of the kitsucorn.

When a kitsucorn uses magic (or, sometimes, if they're very excited!) their horns will express certain "quirks." These are known as charms!

Charms can be anything from glowing, sparkling, releasing energy (such as electricity or fire,) or even singing a tune! Charms are unique to a kitsucorn and stay the same throughout their lives.

I'm working on a magic system with elements to specialize in and tiers to earn howEVER it's like entirely for flavor right now and not important to launch. ;w; I encourage you to play with your kitsucorn's magical powers however you like until it's ready, and I am always up for hearing suggestions for what you'd like to see!

Sex, Gender, and Reproduction BREEDING ISN'T PLANNED RN SORRY orz

Kitsucorns are an asexual species (they do not have reproductive equipment) and their native culture is genderless as well. However, they recognize the concept and importance of gender in other cultures, and individuals may identify and use whatever pronouns most suits them. Kitsucorns do not treat others differently based on gender.

Reproduction is infrequent and happens only between closely bonded partners. Baby kitsucorns are born out of a strong combination of their parents’ magic and affection. Usually, only a single kit is born at a time.

World

Kitsucorns are meant to be able to fit into many settings, however they do have their own canon world populated by other species. It’s a big WIP right now!

Other inhabitants include a harpy-like race and mer-deer.
