Name: Sam(antha, but she goes by Sam or Sammy.)
Personality: An apprentice court magician, Sam spends most of her time learning about
various magical arts, from charms and enchantments to star-reading
and potions, plus everything in-between and on the fringes.
Sammy has a strong drive to help out wherever she can--fitting for her
job, which deals mostly with solving magical problems that come up
(or occasionally remedying mundane issues with a little hocus-pocus.)
She feels the more knowledgeable she is on a wider breadth of subjects,
the more likely she'll be able to solve things, leading to an almost
obsessive study habit. When Sam's not practicing with mentors or running
errands, she's reading, reading, reading. For this pallio, taking a break
from studying one subject usually means she's just studying something else
instead.
Bubbly and outgoing, Sam is very much the people-pleaser and constantly
strives to make others happy. She has little problem finding friends, but
making time to socialize with them is another matter. She's very likely to
get caught up in her latest project or craze, and forget other
responsibilities such as lunch with a buddy, or... lunch in general.
Sammy is also prone to developing (not necessarily romantic) crushy, starry-
eyed admiration of others, particularly those who are capable and confident
in their abilities. (A LOT of people, in her book.) This will occasionally lead
to her sorely misjudging a character, too lost in her own blushy haze to see
the truth.
All in all, this pallio is a hard-worker, dedicated to her job and helping out.
Sometimes she focuses too intensely and loses scope of the bigger picture,
causing her to slip up, but in the end she tries her best. She can be a little
naive and put too much faith into people, but she believes in the good of
everyone and wants to do right by them. (Don't leave your dessert out
where she can reach it, though.)
She loves problem-solving and puzzles, and in a non-magical AU would
probably be big into math and tech. (Sci-fi AU!? 8w8)
Likes: - Learning new things!
- Solving problems and puzzles.
- SWEETS! She has a horrible sweet tooth and is usually carting around
candy somewhere on her person. Cakes and ice cream live in fear. - Bright and pastel colors.
- Bright and well-lit rooms.
- Indoors/urban/populated areas. Sam is completely urban-oriented
and, if given a choice, sticks to the indoors rather than out.
Dislikes: - Dirt and grime, and being anywhere that's dirty.
- Which, in Sam's opinion, is basically anywhere outdoors-y. She can't
tolerate anything wilder than a well-manicured garden. - Dark and dim. Bad lighting is hard on her eyes (since she usually has
her nose in a book) and puts her in a gloomy mood. She's out-and-out
afraid of the dark but shh, that's a secret. u///u - Getting completely stuck on a problem with no new directions to explore.
Sam has a hard time "turning off" or going and doing something else for a
while as distraction, so she just gets more and more frustrated instead.
Not a pleasant time to be around her. - ... Disappointing others. ; ; Especially mentor figures. iAi
Hobbies: Sam spends most of her "free time" studying.
However, she enjoys collecting small figures, such as those made from
spun glass. All of the shelves in her room are dotted with them. She
loves admiring them when resting her eyes from text and they make
her happy.
Sam has attempted cooking but the results were atrocious. When she's not
stuffing her face with sweets, her snacks of choice are things that require
no prep, such as fresh fruit.
Secret: Taking it upon herself to practice some spells on her own time, without
supervision, Sam bit off a little more than she could chew and somehow
managed to turn an old spellbook she was working out of into a bacintus.
She's tried to keep it under wraps and hidden under her bed until she can
work out how to turn it back, but being a bacintus it's very contrary to
anything Sam actually wants it to do. Instead, it has laid claim to her
entire room as its kingdom and likes to laze on her bed or, when feeling
particularly ill-tempered, knock things off her shelves while maintaining
unnerving eye contact. Despite her best attempts so far, it stubbornly
refuses to turn back into a book.
When asked if she's seen the "missing" book around anywhere, Sam gets
WAY too flustered, responds with "NOPE NOT AROUND HERE NOPE NOPE
NOPE SORRY" and a quick excuse to escape. Smooth, Sammy.
What do other pallios/characters think of them?: Sprig appreciates Sam's drive and dedication, but is of the opinion
she should try to relax, take her time, and stop to sniff the flowers
once in a while.
Silas' opinion is something like >:[ but >:[ is basically Silas' opinion about
most people and also things.
I should work on his characterization gosh.
If anyone'd like to volunteer their characters' views, feel free to PM me!
