Reason; Why did I picked something as simple as Simple? Because, he is a simple, all around. The name is met as definition #3, humble and unpretentious, which is what he is. No he may not be the flashiest todd around but he is by far the most humble and generous of them all. When I saw him the name Simple came to mind and of course I burst out singing "Simple Man". Although the name has little meaning, isn't unique in a sense, it is true to his character.

writing piece; SimpleBransonxEarly morning on a warm and breezy Sunday birds singing their usual tune Simple was out sunbathing on a hill. Tall, light, and wavy pony grassing dancing in the breeze tickling Simple when it brushed against his dark pink nose. A quick and sudden sneeze sent Simple barreling out of lucid state. Sitting up slowly and yawning his paws stretching out in a cat-like motion flattening the grass beneath them. Lazily raising up to a standing position Simple let his still sleepy vision focus in on the scenic view. His ear twitching as the warm summer breeze swirled in it. A comforting blanket of sun wrapping around him gently. A rustle in the grass went unnoticed by his ears as a dark patchy figure weaved through the grass. In a sudden burst another slightly larger todd sprang out of the sea of grass and tackled him. Shocked out of his calm state he flattened his ears ready to defend himself only to be greeted by the familiar face of his friend, Branson. The blue merle todd quick stepped off of his friend and allowed him to his feet. Simple standing just a few inches shorter than Branson snorted into his to express his displeasure with the surprise. The stumpy tailed fox then turned and returned to his sitting position viewing the ever moving field below. Branson carefully took a set beside his companion. An eerie silence stood between the two for a moment.
"So, Simple, what are your plans today?!" Branson questioned his quiet friend.
"Well it was to just spend my day sleeping here but it seems to have already made plans for us.." Simple said sounding rather irked. Swishing his tail through the grass for a moment thinking about how he should respond
"Well, yes, but you don't have to come!" Branson said quickly
"I had made sure the river was empty today and thought maybe you'd be interested in going for a quick swim..?" He added nervously. Clearly pondering the thought Simple looked over at him
"Why? Scared to go alone?" he said with a chuckle
"Oh of course, I am always up for a swim." he said slowly raising to his feet.
"Well.. its not that I don't mind swimming alone its the fact that your always alone, it worries me my friend." Branson said standing in unison.
"I enjoy my alone time and you are fully aware of that." Simple said through his teeth.
"Yes well alone time shouldn't outweigh time spent with friends." Branson said wisely.
"I suppose you're right my friend." Simple said with a nod as he looked over at his brotherly friend.
Arriving at the river they both quickly took in the scenery. Large oak trees clinging to the sandy bank, branches shadowing the lower half of the slow moving river. Dragonflies accompanied by Damselflies dancing on and off the water, water skippers darting in undecipherable pattern in the shallows. The falling white blossoms of the trees gripping the upper bank sailed down the river like couples going for an evening boat ride in France. Simple edging his way to the water slid his foot in, to his surprise it wasn't nearly as cold as he had excepted. Branson on the other hand wasted no time checking the temperature of the flowing river and quickly made his way in. Simple let a sigh at the sight of his impatient friend and he to dove in not taking his time to get used to the change in temperature.
"Oh my this is chilly, not as bad as I thought but still.." Simple said his jaws clattering slightly as he spoke.
"Oh come on, its not that bad! And plus we have the whole river to ourselves!" Branson said trying to shine light on the positive side.
"You're right again my friend, there could be rowdy youth here." Simple said giving his friend credit. Branson quickly dunked his head under the water and swam down river to where the water pooled and made it easier to float. Picking his now drenched head out of the water and shaking his spotted head he relaxed and rested it gently on top of the water.
"Isn't this lovely? Peaceful?" He said in a breathy manner.
"Oh yes, very much so." Simple said as he gave slow and rhymed kicks against the water putting little effort into swimming up stream, simply keeping himself in place. The cool waves of the river lapping over their fur washing away the stress of winter. Muscles loosened and relaxed letting the almost zero gravity effect the water had take control. Listening to the distant water rippling down over the rocks of the small waterfall. The sound of the water breaking and trees swaying was soon broken by the sound of trampling paws in the woods rocks tumbled down from the oncoming train of destruction. The two mature todds quickly picked up their heads in time to see a pack of young todds and vixens spring out of the mellow forest and plunge into the water. Shaken by the commotion the two todds who were twice the size of the juveniles paddled their way to the bank. Emerging from the water the shook their wet pelts and looked behind them both giving loud growls of disapproval. The sounds quieted the commotion for a second grabbing the attention of the youngins. Turning and marching off back towards the field Branson looked over at Simple just to Simple already looking at him
"That wasn't relaxing." Simple said in a smart-alec like way.
"Now, I didn't know they'd end up showing up." Branson sighed clearly disappointed in the sudden end to their swim.
"Thanks for asking me to join you Branson, it was fun." Simple said in an act of gratitude. Branson returned a thankful in the form of a nod.
