Delta Velorum Fox #109 - Winner!

Postby SnowStar » Sun Apr 19, 2015 12:43 pm

Image
Delta Velorum Foxes are tall looking foxes that are only located on the remote planet of Delta Velorum.

Standing between 2 - 2 1/2 feet at the should, Delta Velorum Foxes are very tall in appearance compared to Red Foxes on Earth. They tend to be long legged in appearance and are well known for their endurance and agility. Males tend to be more muscular then females while female are more slender and elegant in appearance. A Delta Foxes fur tends to be very soft and short, and come in a wide variety of natural colors. It is not uncommon to see them in roans and dun colors similar to horses and are commonly seen in cat colors and patterns as well (such as calico, tabby, bengal markings ect). However the combination of colors and patterns are limitless, and each Delta Velorum Fox is different from the next. No two are ever the same in looks. Delta Velorum Foxes can come in any eye color and combination - no matter if it's natural or unnatural. A fox with two or more eye colors (known as Heterochromia) is uncommon but not unheard of.

Variety: Long Tail, Snip/Custom facial markings.

Inspired by This Horse. However, this DVF is a bay/leopard appaloosa chimera! With a 25% chance of the chimera gene passing to his or her offspring.

NOTE: This DVF has a sister, which I am keeping. Her name is Keke and her basic info can be found HERE

Gender: Vixen

Sexuality: Straight

Personality: Strange, quiet, anxious (hides it from most foxes)

How are they with it's sibling? Her and her sister are very close. They bickered and play-fought as young pups, like all siblings. Alani and her sister grew the closest during their teenage years when Alani was dealing with anxiety, and her sister helped her overcome it.

History: Alani and her sister grew up as the best of friends, sticking to each other like glue. Alani was the younger of the two sisters, and loved for Keke to play games she had invented with her. When they were young pups, Alani and her sister were playing near their home when an owl swooped down and tried to grab her sister, the smaller of the two. Alani was able to stall the owl long enough for their parents to rescue her, but from then on Alani suffered the constant fear and anxiety that something similar would happen again to one of them. For a while, she kept it hidden from her sister, but as they grew, it became more evident she was greatly stressed. Her sister noticed this and despite her fiery attitude, was caml and comforting around Alani. She helped her deal with her anxiety over their teenage years, greatly diminishing it, but not completely eradicating it. Because of this, Alani is eternally grateful of her sister. Alani followed her sister as a rogue.

Likes: Alani enjoys the presence of kits. She feels her anxieties melt away when they come into view, and absolutely will have a litter when she finds a mate.

Dislikes: Alani does not like to be left alone. She fears of a time when she will be afraid and paralyzed with fear, and if she is alone then, no one could save her. This is another reason she sticks closer to her sister.

Fun Facts: Alani wishes she could go somewhere where the ice was melted and she could swim. Ever since she'd heard of it as a kit, she'd been fascinated by the ability to swim. She always urges her sister to go somewhere warmer so she can do so, but they haven't gotten around to it yet.

Written story:
Alani tossed and turned in her nest. The energetic mottled kit could not close her clear blue eyes, which glittered in the black of the night. She sprang up from the nest she shared with her sister, Keke, on soft paws, careful not to disturb her yet. Her plan was foiled when Keke opened one of her albino red eyes and whispered, "I knew you were going to wake me up."
Alani grinned. "Can we play, then? I can't sleep!" she exclaimed softly. She was shifting around on her paws, like she couldn't contain her energy any longer. Keke took a glance at their parents, who were peacefully nuzzled up next to each other on the opposite side of their den, soundly asleep. There was only a slim chance they'd wake up, even if Alani was her usual noise-making self. Her gaze shifted back to her little sister, and she nodded. Alani squeaked with delight quietly.
Keke got up, and stiffly lead her sister out of the pitch black den and into the dazzling light of the full moon. The clearing was blanketed in pure white snow, which glistened in the moon's bright rays. A few large clumps of snowflakes softly drifted down from an almost clear night sky, one of which landed directly on Alani's dark pink nose. The russet and white fox kit stared cross-eyed at the clump, batting at it until it melted. Keke chuckled softly at her sister. "Which game do you want to play tonight, 'Lani? 'Find the Squirrel' or 'Hideaway'?"
"Oo, let's do 'Find the Squirrel', Keke!" Alani replied cheerfully. At her sister's request, Keke went to a fallen log on the edge of the snowy clearing, and pulled out the 'squirrel'. It was a mass of brown and gray feathers carefully placed to form the shape of a squirrel. Two small seeds acted as the eyes, and the nose was a dried red berry. Alani recalled the day she requested that her sister make a new game for the two to play, specifically involving a search of some kind. Keke had proven faithful and, in her spare time, sculpted a twin of the squirrels their parents always caught for them to eat. Alani was fascinated at the intricacy of the toy, and 'Find the Squirrel' instantly became he favorite game to play with her older sister.
"Now, close you eyes, 'Lani. I need to hide the squirrel." Alani's eyes were closed even before Keke could say 'Now'. She knew the entire routine, since they played it whenever they could muster up the time. Keke started to pad over to a thorn bush with a mischievous grin on her face. She won't see it in the thorn bush, she thought. It'll be too well camouflaged.
Alani could her the crunch of the new snow underneath her sister's paws. She twitched her ears, trying to pinpoint the exact hiding place, but a loud, bird-like screech overpowered the noise of Keke's movements. The kit flickered open her eyes quickly, and saw Keke cowering in terror by the thorn bush, with a mottled brown Great Horned owl swooping down on her. For a spilt second, Alani was frozen with fear, but after that, something overpowered her, and she charged in between her sister and the approaching predator. She could feel the sharp talons rake down her side, and felt the owl fumble and try to grab her. The owl must have been a younger one, since it didn't successfully capture her like an experienced hunter would have.
"Get away!" she snarled, with her ears back and neck fur raised. Alani doubted the owl could understand her speech, but it could certainly understand her body language. It's amber eyes narrowed, and it pivoted around, flying off into the night. Alani sighed with relief, and turned to Keke, whose eyes were wide with shock.
"Alani . . . you took on an owl!" she whispered. Her red eyes moved to the wound on her side. Alani had noticed the stinging, and finally looked down to examine it. Blood was already drying and clotting up the russet and white fur on her side. A wound this gruesome didn't seem to belong on a kit.
"I'm fine." Alani assured. I feel a bit dizzy, though. she admitted to herself. The two sisters stood in silence, not knowing what to say, until the same screech cut through the air like a blade. This time, a force from behind her knocked Alani down instantly, which left her gasping for breath. Unable to breath, she laid there, while Keke screamed for help.
"Mama! Papa! Help!" she cried. Alani opened her mouth, trying to call out for her parents, but still couldn't catch her breath. Fear coursed through her entire body as Keke cried out more, until her vision became black and she was unconscious, not knowing if Keke would make it or not.

Loved your form, congrats on winning your new DVF! I hope you don't mind being PMed here and there with some siblings art so Alani and Keke can keep up their relationship. I don't RP but lots of art I can do. c8

So full of hate were our eyes
That none of us could see
Our war would yield countless dead
But never victory
So let us cast arms aside
And like discard our wrath
Thou, in faith, will keep us safe

Name: Haunani

Name Meaning/Origin: Snow Beauty

Nickname: Nani

Nickname Meaning: Beauty or Beautiful

Gender: Vixen/She/Female

Personality: Nani is very social. She loves to talk and talk but she also gets distracted very easily. Don't expect her to be fooled though by your tricks. She is also very intelligent and loves to read and even write books. Her favorite animal is actually the lion since her zodiac is leo the lion. She loves to sing and dance with her sister and even go to the beach and swim for hours upon hours. She already has a slight crush on another velorum fox and he doesn't know... neither will you.. heheh....

How are they with it's sibling? These two siblings were separated at birth but later on in life met up with each other and became friends. They soon started talking and found out they were both abandoned at birth, Nani by her mother and Keke by her father. They both wanted to do some research on their life and they found that they were both related in blood by last name and species of course. They both now never leave their sight and are the closest of sisters than any other velorum foxes could ever be.

Story: Separated at birth, these two velorum foxes were separated at birth as told before. Nani went with her father and Keke with her mother. They were both raised as normal velorum foxes and soon found out they had a sibling. Nani was told that both her mother and sister died by a mountain lion. Keke was told a different story about how her father stole Nani and never returned. The lies were believed until the fateful day that they both bumped into each other. Nani of course apologized and then started to talk about her day. They actually became friends too just by that. They started to talk to each other and they both soon found out they had been separated at birth but they didn't know who their parents were. Nani of course said 'Lets go find out who our sibling is!' little did they know it was each other who were siblings. Soon after they found out who they were they started to cry because they found it was each other. They had been searching for five months.
