Backstory;
Lena was originally one half of a whole- she had a twin named Leila. She and Leila were not just sisters, but best friends, and they had trained and dreamed ever since they were small of being fierce warrioresses in the ring with their riders. It was their first time in the ring- Lena had already fought and been victorious. Being the older twin she was always the stronger, better fighter. It was Leila's turn in the ring. Her opponent was a grizzled old he-bear, blind in one eye but twice as vicious for it. It was over before Lena could even blink. She doesn't remember exactly how it happened- a roar, a squeal, the thud of a rider being flung off a bear's back. The crashing of armour. Then there was the he-bear being forcibly restrained, and tranquilized and dragged out of the ring. Stretchers for the two riders. And Leila... poor sweet Leila, lying motionless in the dusty ring. That was Lena's first experience with death, but certainly not her last, and losing her twin has left her far more reserved and hollow. She still sees her sister sometimes- they say the stress drove her mad and she hallucinates.
