Sand Surfer No. 28

Postby owls-in-october » Fri Sep 13, 2013 10:31 pm

A red-fox based SS for adopt - I realize I haven't made one of these lately, so here ya go! :)
This contest will end Monday - September 16th.
To win this guy/girl, you must find an autumn/Halloween themed poem and a) post it with your form or b) provide a link to it. Whoever found the best poem wins! :)
You may also write your own poem, of course.

Good luck! ;) Form decoration is highly encouraged, of course.

It seems you forgot the white chin and neck on his headshot. |D

I would enter, but I'm just not feeling the fox theme. I absolutely love the orange fur and gold eyes, though. Make another like that and I'd definitely try out.

Free bump 'cause I really like this species and this guy needs a home.
I was hacked. Not going to remake all my groups and such unless I feel like it. That's a lotta work. Don't bother with trades, everything's a mess.

Will offer reasonable overpay.

SS Name:
Temptation
Gender:
Female
Brief Personality:
A very silent SS, she tends to be a bystander more than anything, lurking around the edges. However, she plays a very important part in her group of friends and has a quiet authority; however, slightly arrogant and not just a bit intimidating, she is not the best candidate for a companion. However, her steadfast loyalty and downright stubbornness make up for it... Although you have to deal with your fair share of strange and creepy quirks that she has.
Poem:
WIP; might you be able to write your own?
Thank you, Monty.

You will be missed.

SS Name:
    Peter
Gender:
    Male
Brief Personality:
Nosy - Peter is very curious about everything, to the point of being nosy. He will ask uncomfortable questions to get an answer, because he does not realize he has to be polite. It's a bad habit of his.
Compassionate - He usually has a soft heart toward little things. With his nosiness, he will usually find out sad things about people, and try to comfort them.
Selfish - After comforting someone, he will get on with asking questions. Selfish little sand surfer!
Clever - Using compassion to persuade answers out of others, is that not clever?
Poem:
The Sycophantic Fox and the Gullible Raven

    by Guy Wetmore Carryl (1873-1904)

A raven sat upon a tree,
And not a word he spoke, for
His beak contained a piece of Brie.
        Or, maybe it was Roquefort.
We’ll make it any kind you please --
At all events it was a cheese.

    Beneath the tree’s umbrageous limb
        A hungry fox sat smiling;
He saw the raven watching him,
        And spoke in words beguiling:
"J’admire," said he, "ton beau plumage!"
    (The which was simply persiflage.)

Two things there are, no doubt you know,
To which a fox is used:
A rooster that is bound to crow,
        A crow that’s bound to roost;
    And whichsoever he espies
He tells the most unblushing lies.

"Sweet fowl," he said, "I understand
        You’re more than merely natty;
I hear you sing to beat the band
        And Adelina Patti.
Pray render with your liquid tongue
    A bit from Götterdämmerung."

This subtle speech was aimed to please
        The crow, and it succeeded;
He thought no bird in all the trees
Could sing as well as he did.
    In flattery completely doused,
He gave the "Jewel Song" from Faust.

    But gravitation’s law, of course,
        As Isaac Newton showed it,
Exerted on the cheese its force,
        And elsewhere soon bestowed it.
In fact, there is no need to tell
What happened when to earth it fell.

I blush to add that when the bird
        Took in the situation
He said one brief, emphatic word,
        Unfit for publication.
The fox was greatly startled, but
He only sighed and answered, "Tut."

    MORAL: A fox is bound
        To be a shameless sinner.
And also: When the cheese comes round
        You know it’s after dinner.
But (what is only known to few)
The fox is after dinner, too.

Thank you, Tawny, I honestly did not notice that until now! I'll change it as soon as I can.

Remember people - this ends tomorrow!
