The species of 'bears' is not copy righted by Oddly Shaded and should not be by any user. Helmer Bears are though copy righted in their traits and characteristics which differ from your average bear. Therefore these bears specifically belong to Oddly as an adoptable species.

Hi everyone! So as you can see, our thread name has changed... I've decided that Helmer Bears are unique enough and have enough interesting factors that they can be an Interactive sim! This will allow myself, and the other staff ability to make characters that can be competed with, have fun with and all sorts of cool stuff. I have been considering making a complete interactive site for the bears where you can adopt bears that go into your account and you can create riders and all sorts of stuff! If I had the ability to make a poll, I certainly would. But because oekaki doesn't allow that, I'm just going to get you to post the answer to the following question;

What are Helmer Bears
Helmer Bears are tamed bears who are ridden. They are considered 'War' bears and often guard the edges of territories. They are also used in Battle and have developed their own battles in which their riders enter with them. Almost a competition. This compeition often is run in three different catagories. Agility, Speed and Intelligence. One bear has ONE rider and will often only connect with that single rider. Sometimes when they are newborns they are given to an owner. By law, the owner must be at least 10 years of age. And 20 years of age to enter Battle and 15 years of age to enter a competition.
General Information
- They have completely custom armor/harness
- They have a single rider whom is NOT designed by Offical staff
- Harness is built specifically for the rider
- They are very large, usually the size of a Polar Bear or Grizzly
- Often take after bears & are often natural (but Unnatural markings are common)
- Unnatural colouration is quite rare, but can occur
- They will be equip with a harness when created and then you will get to decide what goes on the harness (ie. a pocket for a sword/chains/etc).

9. DO NOT edit any pictures of the bears when creating armor. If this happens you will recieve a warning. Repeat offenders will be banned. This matter is serious, and it is inappropriate to draw over my lines and the artists design.
10. DO NOT adopt if you are going to Quit/Give the bear up.

Adoption
Pretty simple. Fill in the form on the Bears page. More than often you will have to design the armor/harness for your bear to be sure it is custom to your liking. The statistics created by Oddly will not be tampered with unless you are buying from the store.
Competing
Competing or Combat is where bear against bear action is recorded and you win and can gain more points for your bear. Be sure to read up completely about your bear and not just assume about stuff. So here are the broken down sections of info!
Your Statistics
The statistics are broken into 5 sections.
Agility - meaning at what speed can your bear move around quickly. Agility is necessary for your bear to avoid being attacked by another bear, also for your bear to be able to attack swiftly.
Speed - meaning how quickly your bear can move. This often will determine the winner of the battle, as if your bear is not quick enough, the opponent can strike and defeat your bear.
Intellect - meaning how smart the bear is in order for it to know when to attack and how to attack. The brains of a bear doesn't always determine the match, but once you reach 50/100 your bear will automatically be given a boost while in combat.
Stamina - meaning how long your bear can last in a fight. This can often help pull a bear through the final stages of battle and help win your match.
Defense - meaning how much protection your bear has. When you create the armor for your bear you can get up to 10 points (and 0 if you do not create armor). You can buy points in the store specifically for defense which boosts your bears armor points. Armor is most certainly essential for winning as it can be the difference between taking a critical shot lightly, or being defeated.
Level
Each bear begins at stage 1 bronze. Once he has won his first battle he will move to stage 2 and so forth increasing by one win each level. Below is more information about each level. Once you reach gold, it becomes more difficult to reach higher, but possible. The highest level is 'Diamond'. Once reaching this level you MUST retire your bear. Though there are matches which allow for free rounds rather than ranking rounds.

Stage 1 - Beginning stage
Stage 2 - 1 win
Stage 3 - 2 wins
Stage 4 - 3 wins
Stage 5 - 4 wins
SILVER STAGES
Stage 1 - 5 wins
Stage 2 - 10 wins
Stage 3 - 15 wins
GOLD STAGES
Stage 1 - 20 wins
Stage 2 - 30 wins
Stage 3 - 40 wins
DIAMOND STAGE
Final Stage - 50 wins
RETIREMENT
Combat Techniques
You will find combat techniques in the store. Each technique helps in multiple areas and will be used once during a match. There are different types of combat techniques which will effect diffently to each bear. For example; One bear has a combat technique which lowers stamina by half. If your bear has 20 points of stamina it would lower to 10 points. But if your bear has 50 points, it would only lower to 30. Combat techniques are there to give you a helping hand while in battle.
AGILITY TECHNIQUES
ACT1 - 'On a Dime' - Allows you to miss a non-critical hit - Costs 8 points
ACT2 - 'Stealth Movement' - Allows you to gain 10 agility points mid-fight - Costs 10 points
ACT3 - 'Duck & Weave' - Allows you to gain 5 points while giving a non-reversable hit of 5 to the opponent - Costs 10 points
ACT4 - 'Mixed Messages' - Allows you to miss a non-critical hit & give a hit of 6 points to the opposition - Costs 15 points
SPEED TECHNIQUES
SCT1 - 'Voltage' - Gives your bear a boost of 10 points in speed & allows you to miss a non-critical hit - Costs 15 points
SCT2 - 'Fear boost' - Allows you to gain 5 points of speed & give a hit of 5 points - Costs 10 points
SCT3 - 'Bowl' - Allows you to run directly into the opposition and give a minor critical hit of between 30 - 40 points - 35 points
SCT4 - 'Mixed Advantage' - Gives your bear a boost of 10 points & allows you to give a minor critical hit of 20 - 30 points - 35 points

How to buy things
You can buy items to increase your bear's techniques, and defense points. In order to earn points you send pets to Oddly Shaded (this does NOT include customs - information in 'Customs' section). There is a certain amount of points you'll be able to get from different pets & C$ (we do not accept other currencies). This is the list of the amount of points you can get;
- OMG so common - Very common --> 1 point each pet (Unless wishlist --> 2 points each)
Common --> 2 points each (Unless wishlist --> 3 points each)
Uncommon --> 3 points each (Unless wishlist --> 4 points each)
Rare --> 5 points each (Unless wishlist --> 7 points each)
Very Rare --> 10 points each (Unless wishlist --> 15 points each)
OMG so rare --> We do not accept these pets (Because purely their value is considered to be much too high compared to other pets)
There are also more points for the age of pets & species! Read below;
- '13 - '11 --> No additional points
'10 --> 3 additional points
'09 --> 6 additional points
'08 --> 10 additional points
Rats/bats/spiders/poultry --> 0 extra points
Cats/guineapigs/squid --> 1 extra point
Dogs/Horses/Nick --> 3 extra points
Dragons/Malk/Lions --> 6 extra points
Custom Bears
It costs 20 points at the moment to order a custom bear. BUT we do have additional prices if you want a more difficult looking bear. Please read on and carefully through the additional costs.
COLOURATION
Easy - No additional
Medium - 2 points
Difficult - 5 points
ARMOR
Easy - No additional
(Easy armor is limited to 2 pieces on top of the harness. For example - Murdock the Mascot bear in the header)
Medium - 5 points
(Medium armor is limited to up to 7 pieces on top of the harness.)
Difficult - 10 points
Difficult armor is not limited and you can ask for full body armor etc.)
EDITS
Each edit costs an extra point.
