WTE Name: Luthien
WTE Age: 9 Years
Gender: Stallion
Height: 15 hh
Personality: Luthien is an old soul in a not-too-aged body- the loss of his mate four years ago has made him a quiet creature who is muted when it comes to others. He prefers to spend his time alone- and is especially scarce during breeding seasons. His dappled coat allows him to blend in well in the shadows of the jungle, out of touch with others. It's not that he doesn't want to- he just needs the right person to bring him out of that shell. He's a wise Whip Tail though, using his observations and knowledge to his best advantage- and will offer help to anyone who might ask for it.
He loves the sound of laughter and rain, though he won't go looking for them- but he enjoys to bathe in the sounds when they occur around him, happy to let them run down and soothe his soul.
Story
Rain droplets rolled down his broad back as he stood, like a sentinel, on the edge of the cliff. Thunder rolled and stomped its hooves in the far off pasture of the horizon, and flickers of lightning jumped from cloud to cloud overhead, in a gray, gloomy sky. His coat looked as though many snowflakes had drifted onto it and never left his mahogany coat. He closed his emerald eyes as the water softly brushed his face like the cool caress of the evening sky. Tears from above, consoling the emptiness in his own shell of a body. A year, a whole year, the turning of the seasons, wet and dry, had passed since that twilight. Since the last time he had felt her warm muzzle against his neck and looked into her gray-blue eyes.
It was a gray and lavender twilight, with clouds crowding the air- but it seemed no worse than any other rainstorm. Nothing to disturb the couple’s routine as they walked down to the river, letting the cool water brush against their fetlocks as they sipped from the river and munched on the florae scattered around it. Luthien just let her laugh- oh, how he loved her laugh, sweeter than birdsong and honeysuckle. They had romped together, kicking up diamond droplets as the thunder sounded, like soft, far-off nickers, that meant little to the joyous pair.
They had fallen asleep on the shoreline, cradled by the shoregrass, heads resting near one another, their side warm against once another. They were so deep in sleep that they had no chance to react when the weeping heavens caused the land to fail. One moment, Luthien and his dear one were in dreamland, and the next, they were locked in a mass of sliding mud, choking and kicking their legs to try and climb out from the landside. Luthien whinnied to his mate, who let out a choked out scream, before the mud muffled her calls, and his world was turned upside down as he was tumbled down the slope. There was no control, no chance to gain a grip, they were crushed in the tearing paws of a treacherous earth that would sweep them both away, dumping their bodies alone and secluded.
Luthien only had those fragmented memories still- he had searched for her for over a fortnight, but to no avail- she was gone, and he would never feel her touch again. He tried to move on, but it was crushing. It felt, some days, like he was still locked in that grip of the suffocating mud.
Raindrops sounded like quiet notes of a gentle melody, cooling to his body, but warming to the senses. He let himself be carried away by their harmonious sound. It was a distraction, a blessed one. The breeze ruffled his mane, as he stood once again in the present day, on a dark and somber anniversary. He raised his head and softly called out a pained echo of a whinny- hoping to call his beloved back to him once more.
(The picture is not the story, just a sketch…this isn’t very good I’m afraid!)
Genes: Red base: AA=Brindle, Aa=Sabino
Extra: Luthien Sketch
This was all handpainted without lines- base coat was with a brush, but allll those details were with a toothpick. XD It's not great but! I was going for primitive look, and focusing mostly on color. XD

Are there any requirements for the short story beyond 500 words (about the equine, a certain location, etc)?
You want to hear a story? Well, I have a ton. But how would you like to here the one about how I met my mate Aoife?
It was a cold, snowy night. The full moon shined down on the land, blanketing the white earth in light. I caught a movement out of he side of my eye and turned to find the source. And that's when I saw her, laying in the snow, caught under both a ray of moonlight, and shadows. I turned and went to her. Upon my arrival I noticed several large claw marks. "Hello?" I said softly, not wanting to scare her. She threw her head up, but it slowly fell down in pain. "I'm Zane." I told her, laying beside her to keep her warm and so that she could see me more clearly. Who are you? And, if you dont mind me asking, what happend?" i asked her, not wanting to bring back any oainful memories. "I'm ..... Aoife." she told me quietly. She then looked out into the distance and said "Wolfs." that was all I needed to hear. "We need to get you up." I told her gently. "Right now you are a perfect target for hypothermia and the wolfs. You need to get out of here." I told her. "I have no where to go." she told me, I immediately felt sorry for the poor mare. "You can come home with me." I told her. She looked up at me and smiled, and her orange-purple eyes twinkled in the moonlight.
We then started trying to get her up. She couldn't do it on her own. "Here," I told her "you try to get up, and I'll push you up with my muzzle." "Wirth a shot." she said, looking up at me with a thankful expression. So she started to get up, and I pushed her gently, she started to slip in the icy snow, I pushed her harder until she was up right. But then she started falling over the other way, so I ran over to her other side and, carful of her gashes, threw my shoulder into hers until she was standing on her own. I backed away slowly, as to make sure she wouldn't fall over. She turned her head slowly around and looked at me, then she just laughed, "don't worry! I'm fine!" "Ok then, let's go." I said as I helped her walk back to where I lived, but she needed no help walking right into my heart.
On the way, she opened up her heart to me and told me her while life story. She told me about how she had an older sister Feya, who she loved very much, and how she left home just to find some adventure. How she ended up here, and even the story about being attacked by the wolves. And right as we reached my home, she was telling me about when she saw me, seeing her, I couldn't help but laugh. But she said she felt like I was an angel, sent to save her. Now I really laughed. "Here we are!" I told her. "She looked around at the small cave underneath a canopy of trees. I helped her to lay down carfully, then finding some yarrow to heal her gashes. I lay down beside her, to keep her warm, and because I had discovered I loved her, and I never left. "You know," I told her, " I never really beleives in love at first sight. But I just proved myself wrong." She looked at me and smiled, she layed her head down on my neck, and she laid by my side, and she too never left.
Well, that's the story of his I met my mare Aofie, thanks for listening! *Applause here*
