"Tàiyáng wángzǐ. Translated it means 'Prince of the Sun'. Hmm? In Chinese of course! And I'll have you know it fits me perfectly inside and out, does yours? Alright alright don't mess it up like that, just call me Tài. That will do."
Gender: Male
"Take one look at this mustache and tell me your guess."
YFS or growing:
"I am immortal! 1,000 years have I walked this earth, seeing and knowing- Well ok, I guess I hafta tell you. I'm only 13 mortal years so far, but who says I can't live to be 1,000? Anyway I have been growing quite well for many years now, and no sign of stopping! I'm gonna be bigger than you probably, I'll be the biggest dragon there is! And I can't wait until my majestic horns come in!" (growing)
Unquenchable
Like the young boy he is, he’s unquenchable in spirit. That one word can wrap up his personality like no other. Try to put him down; he’ll bob right up again. Try to put him off an idea; he’ll latch onto it tenfold! Eager to relieve the world of all her secrets, Tai will question everyone and everything, pursuing knowledge and trivia and random facts from whatever source he can, willing or no.
Adventurous
Ah what every youngster dreams of, the thrill of discovery. Anything that could be called an adventure will do. Be it defending the empire from the evil Martian hordes (imaginary) or rescuing a mouse from a hungry cobra (real) or visiting elephants and an African wildlife reserve, this guy has done it all. Or at least, he hopes to do it all before he grows up and becomes “boring”.
Restless
Similar to adventurous, Tai possesses a restless spirit. Never content with seeing or knowing or doing just one thing, he must always be on the move. He has a secret fear of being contained, of settling into a state of monotony, of boring existence. Thus, Tai is always on the move, lest he atrophy into the palace pet he was originally “destined” to be.
Intelligent (not necessarily wise)
Intelligence is not the same as wisdom. Tai is smart and has a mind for facts, but hasn’t learned the fine art of applying his knowledge to any situation. Oh he’ll be quite ready to inform you on the life cycle of the New Zealand Giant Weta during a formal dinner, but he won’t stop to consider the consequences of sliding down a muddy hill into a dark tunnel before he does it. He’ll learn languages easily and become fluent in a matter of a few months of hard study (heaven knows where he finds the time in between his adventures) but he’ll still retain his endearing Chinese accent.
Lucky (and knows it)
“So far so good!” He’ll say if you ever caution him from taking on a foolhardy task with possible injuries. “I haven’t broken a bone or missed a step so far, why should this be any different?” And then he’ll launch into some wild adventure, narrowly missing getting run over, then happen to win a guessing game, before heading straight past a band of people supposed to be watching him, all before you even noticed he was gone. He is uncommonly lucky, and (unfortunately) knows it.
Boyish
All these things are the sign of a young boy, who will eventually grow to be a mature, wise, and peaceful adult. Few can see it now, but that is the challenge he faces, to one day grow up and be who he is meant to be.
“I was a gift from the sun god, delivered to the high emperor of China. Sent down in a glorious ceremony to bring good luck and wisdom to the courts of the divine ruler. Of course that’s how it happened! Stop butting in!”
Even though that’s the cover story, I can assure you no one believes it. A young dragon was presented to the king yes, but by the royal kennel master, not the sun itself. Raised in the courtyard by dedicated servants, Tai grew up largely alone. When a prestigious ambassador or other person of importance visited the courts, the young dragon was called in to his master’s side. Laying sphinx style at the side of the enormous throne, he preened at the marveling of the posh royals, and turned his head this way and that to show off his mighty whiskers. Then of course they would turn to the emperor and discuss all manner of political things. Presently, after day in and day out of negotiations concerning all sorts of far off places, Tai learned to listen, rather than sit and fidget.
“I used my amazingly superior intellect to memorize and learn every word I heard spoken. I can sit still if I put my mind to it! Anyway (no anyway is not my favorite word, stop interrupting!) Anyway, I learned and memorized and figured out the meaning of most of the words. Ah but I forgot, I am supposed to be talking of my heritage, not my amazing smarts. So my first few years in the courts were spent in relative peace. Just as I was growing bored of all these peaceful negotiations about rice fields, for I was picking up everything that was said in that hall, things finally got interesting.
‘Raiders from the north were pressing on my king’s boarders, and foreign ambassadors came and brought strange tidings of alliance or war. I tried my hardest to learn each new language that came (there were new ones every week, so I only got to learn those of our new allies who stayed for several months) so I could sneak out at night and spy on them talking in their own chambers. Most of the time I just listened and heard wonderful things of far-off lands, huge elephants, and the fate of the world!
Ah yes, the fate of the world… I listened closely to their whispers… and discovered their plot to murder the emperor! Well that just wouldn’t do! I couldn’t let them take over China and kill the one who’s treated me decently all these years! So I swooped in, heroically stopped the coup, saved the empire, and was awarded a jeweled necklace and holiday in my honor. Well of course it wasn’t that simple! Yes I will admit I did end up burning down half the palace in my efforts, and there was that little detour to Africa, but it was an adventure!
After that, the rest is history, I left that place in pursuit of adventure, and never went back."
My tablet broke right after I had only just sketched this drawing, limped along with a mouse, my apologies.
In mother’s arms
A gentle kiss
A newborn babe
Utter bliss
In tender care
And soft whisper
The babe grows spots
And mane and whisker
A secret group
From palace fair
Look in on the babe
Who’s resting there
Markings pleasing
Warm and bright
Of ancient dragons
A beautiful sight
They come they see
With critical eye
A sacred gift
For the emperor high
Without remorse
The deed is done
Despite her cries
“Don’t take my son!”
Taken away
A babe’s shrill cry
Of severed bonds
And family ties
The mother’s face
The last he sees
Her cry of anguish
First memory![]()
Growing up. What all young boys must one day face, what Tai dreads most of all. He doesn’t want to change, he wants to explore and have fun and tour the world and ride some elephants and never. Grow. Up.
Though these events are set in the future, let me tell you how it will come about. Eventually it will finally be time to embark on the greatest adventure of all.
No it isn’t falling in love, though that’s certainly involved in it. It is the journey, the journey from a boy to a man. If a dragon can use that term that is.
Slowly, the restlessness is replaced with peace… Through his many adventures, he will find he cannot be satisfied with just experiencing one thing after another, just collecting more knowledge, more experiences, more fantastic adventures… But for what? A time will come in his life when he searches for the ultimate answer, why? All his knowledge and great rolls of memorized text won’t be able to help him here. His restlessness boiling to a climax, unable to stay in one place, he will finally have to face the call of growing up, he will finally realize what it is he had been searching for all those years.
Peace.
As his body grows, so will his mind and spirit, as he learns from each new experience in a new light, gaining not just knowledge, but wisdom as well.
The conflict began when he accidently hurt someone, someone special. When knowledge seeking lost its allure, he tried thrill seeking, bringing his friends along on hair-raising adrenaline pumping wild adventures. It is a terrifying time of his life. Terrifying for himself, and terrifying for those who care about him. The girl who he was head over heels in love with was persuaded to join him to watch some fireworks, super close up. Many burns and tears later, Tai swore he would protect those around him, that he would never use his skills or knowledge to hurt, but to help.
Easier said than done! The reform didn’t last long, sad to say, and Tai was up to his old tricks, happy as a lark. But the relapse wasn’t so severe as before, and by and by, Tai slowly matured into a wise, resourceful adult. Or at least he will, far in the future, I’m afraid I’m getting ahead of myself.
I suppose if I were to detail all the chronicles of his growing up, and of his adventures as an adult, I might fill a book. But then, you would miss out on all the wonderful adventures of his childhood, on the kooky, crazy little dragon who decided once to overstep his bounds and run away from his palace, and tear off on adventures unknown.
Yes, one day his childhood will come to an end, one day he will grow big and strong, steady, peaceful, wise, but not boring, adult. But that is a story for another time.

Username:
Hello, my username is ANG3RED ANG3L, and I am
VERY interested in this handsome and ferocious
looking young bean.
Dragon name:
Saber Dragonsoul.
Saber was named after his fierce personality as
little bean. He used to roar around and chase
other beans. The second part of his name he
obtained from his appearance, as it resembles
that of a Chinese dragon. He is quite proud of
his looks, and knows that he is very special.
Gender:
*Hur hurrm* I am a male,
of course. And proud
of it. Though I do like
and appreciate the
females. *Winks*
YFS or growing:
I am a normal
everyday growing
bean, hoping
to grow up into a
mighty Jellybean
Dragon.
Personality:
_____________________________________________
/Exotic //Fierce ///Protective ////Bold
_____________________________________________
Saber is a very protective and strong willed bean.
His fiery spirit is one with the dragon he was
based off of. He is fierce to protect those he
cares about, and will use the best of his abilities
to protect them. While it is hard to get into this
beans inner circle, once you are in, it is sort of
hard to get out of it. Being easy to forgive those
who have caused him harm, this bean can sometimes
set himself up for heartbreak. Saber is quite a flirt
with any female beans that catch his eye, and is
willing to even fight to get them to like him more.
He can sometimes find himself doing things he
shouldn’t to catch their attention, and this can
get him into trouble… Saber has an exotic side to
him, as well though. He is daring, charming, and
mysterious. Being true to his zodiac sign, which is
as you may have guessed is the Chinese dragon,
this feisty little boy is self-confident, doesn’t
usually listen to advice given to him. He rolls to
the beat of his own drum, and that’s just the way
he likes it. He is willing to take risks and to take
on challenges others may find insane. However,
Saber is usually more intelligent than that, and will
usually sit back rather than jump for danger. But
this doesn’t mean that he won’t think of doing
something reckless. When someone he loves is in
danger, the inner dragon in this bean comes roaring
to life to defend his friends and family.

'Memory':
When he was a little bean, no more than a few years old, he had a dream about Eastern Dragons running and curling their long slender bodies around him. SInce then, the majestic creatures have awed this bean. He hopes to gain their knowledge and intelligence through study some day.
'Quirk':
Saber has a very strange and somewhat hilarious habbit of curling his facial whiskers around his clawed fingers when he is thinking. It sometimes makes others giggle and laugh at him, and he then realises that he is doing it and slinks off in embarrasment. Its as if he has a mustache!
