Not gonna get on Soul about it, I've known them for too long to whine over something kind of silly. I just wish I could buy a custom with CS dollars, and others could too. And I had to get this off my chest. Hope I didn't sound too rude though. :\ Just My two cents.

Its only going to be until there are enough points for the group to get upgrades, I believe. Don't quote me on that tho, I'm just assuming. Since points on deviantart do cost actual money, 800 points = 8 dollars for a custom, so thats about the amount youd have to get for one. You could do commissions for deviantart points and have them transferred to someones account whom you trust, and then buy a MYO through them. I'd be more than happy to be that person for you if you wanted, since I do think it sucks to miss out on something like this since you can't have a deviantart.

Honestly I agree, it is a disadvantage to some, but Im sure Soul understands that. This is the first time that customs have been able to actually be bought, so it seems natural to use a currency that the majority has. And of course you can always find ways around it, such as with what Marki-Moo suggested. Perhaps in the future customs can be bought with C$, but for now its best to simply enjoy the new wave of happy users and their customs, rather than worrying over DA (which, yeah, is sorta like a big ol nasty parasite haha) c:

@Blue I do get you. Maybe you could talk to someone about buying their points with C$(I would if I could get my creditcard to actually work) But when It is, Maybe we could do a simple swap? MYO ticket for equal C$? Or pets. Maybe art happy to try and help people

I feel like DA is taking over everything. You need one to buy a custom Viscet or you have to rely on a raffle or people acknowledging your referrals. You need one to buy art because seemingly no artists any more work for CS pets. A bunch of species are going to that site, which I'm not a fan of because it gave me the blue screen of death. It's increasingly irritating. After this contest I might just take a shot break from this to forget about this.... Yeah.

Many artists moved to dA because they're adults who need to make money.
I'm going to use the species Makoatls to elaborate on this.

For a lot of young adults, getting a job doesn't always generate enough money to pay bills or buy food
Because of this, people use the extra money that they get through PayPal on dA to supplement their income so that they're able to eat or pay rent
Unfortunately, the owners of many species are in this situation
For example, the creator of Makoatls has been in hospital on more than one occasion
They use some of the money they make from Makoatl flat-sale or auction adopts to help pay their medical bills

While I understand it can be frustrating that adopts are no longer always free
((Trust me, as someone who is now a legal adult and rolls from paycheck to paycheck, I completely understand))
People need to remember that sometimes, artists may have to choose putting out a free adopt, or being late paying a bill

Don't have any problem with them not being free, it just seems that now, if you have a DA you can get a custom. You could sell lots of small art for a small amount or one huge thing for a ton and get a custom. You don't have to cross your fingers for RNGs to not hate you or rely on other people actually referring you. It just seems like it's giving DA users a blatant advantage over everyone who can't or won't get a DA. It's... Annoying I guess. I don't want to sound ranty or anything, sorry. Just doesn't sit well with me I guess. :\
(I mean I'm buying a fursuit, I have no problem with character related things being a tad costly. It's just the unfair advantage.)

All good points made here - but if dA is the only issue you have with the purchasable aspect LOCW, then contact an artist outside of dA, or ask Soul if there's another means of contacting them on another site (not via email or messenger as giving out that info is against the rules on CS). And pay with USD/$$$. So long as it's not on CS, monetary transactions can be made. If dA and it's points are the issue - then pm Soul about an alternative method using $$$ because basically customs are $8 usd or 800 points for the time being. These are tier ones and likely the price will not always be as low 800 points, since we opened with this to see how it goes - so keep that in mind as well. Stubs/referrals are great and all but we've had a lot of issues in the past with it and with rule breaking and abuse of the system. At least if there's monetary gain (even in points) then a portion is still going to the viscets cause / viscet group and it's staff. Because come on we're at 750+ viscets on the main thread, including the nursery we're at 1000+ viscets now. So a little extra to help make this job a little more worth while (because yeah we're doing it for free/next to free, but it's still a job) never hurts, you know?
