Merlin is very happy-go-lucky and earnest, and always eager to please. He seems to believe that everybody in his company- both dog and human- require his devoted attention and love; and in some situations he cannot seem to decide who to run to or play with. He's very lovable, sometimes even overwhelmingly so, and he loves being the center of everyone's affection or interest. Merlin is perhaps even more energetic than the average border collie, and as a result is quite a handful to watch over. However, he's also very dedicated and immensely sensitive to the disapproval of others.
