► NameLurker
/ˈlɜː.k.ər/
def. Steampunk
A criminal of all work, esp. a begger, or someone who uses a beggar's disguise.
--
This name was given to this particular creature on the account of his old and neglected design. This cyber-cat looks as if he's never been looked after a day in his life. No matter how long is spent cleaning and polishing him, his body seems to resist all attempts to make him look well cared for. Despite this, beneath his out-dated design, lies a fully updated system and a well functioning body. This cat knows how to steal to survive, that's what he's always dun, thus the name suits him. A thief with a beggar's disguise.
► Sex & GenderNo Biological Sex
Like all Cybertronians or creatures from his planet, Lurker has no biological sex. He is, after all, a robot. This species is not 'born' so much as created by the Allspark. Therefore Lurker is neither male nor female but both and none at the same time.
Male / They
When speaking in English, Lurker's new owners naturally assigned him male pronouns, feeling that Lurker gives of more of a male persona, however in Cybertronian, their natural language, he is assigned they/them pronouns as is customary. This is due to the fact that gender constructs were picked up when Cybertronians visited Earth and are not native to their own planet.
► SpeciesCyber-Cat
[Common on Cybertron before the war, these creatures often did not possess a high degree of intelligence, they've since been compared to Earth animals, their intelligence described as not being 'human'. Despite this, they seem to show a far higher degree of intellect than most animals found on Earth and can understand some speech though it cannot replicate it.]
► RelationsHappyFlower
Flower was the person Lurker grew closest to in his life, at least for a time. Flower cared for Lurker, giving him love and affection like no one else had and Lurker in turn counted Flower as one of his people. He didn't mind the work that Flower did, he was accustomed to the sounds of an interrogation room. He always liked the way Flower could make his engine 'purr' and would often love to sit on the hippie's shoulder while he did this. After he was abandoned he later met Flower again. Lurker held a grudge for some time though eventually he allowed Flower to pet him again, but the trust he once had for the hippie could never be fully repaired.
He simply could never forget the way the blue mech had not only locked him in that room, but left him there. Despite this, Lurker will still defend Flower if he's threatened.
Accelerate
Lurker was found by the silver mech when he was locked in that room, starving and left to die. At first he didn't trust Ace, not after what had happened to him. But the care and attention he was given as he slowly regained his health, got his respect. It was further won when the silver mech would allow him free reign around the base, free of closed doors. He had access to the vents at all times as they were also used by a resident bug-bot to get around. Eventually Ace won Lurker's trust and whenever Ace sings, one can usually find Lurker sitting quietly in the corner of the room, just listening.
Chirp
Ace bought Chirp for Flower later on, the silver mech knew how terrible his boyfriend felt for what had happened with Lurker and that he'd missed the bond they'd shared. So Ace got Chirp to be Flower's new companion. At first Lurker wasn't sure of the new kitten, she was too rambunctious and her voice sounded nothing like a real cat's voice should. At first he'd hiss at her whenever she'd approach, but over time, he learned to tolerate the kitten grabbing his tail and trying to pounce on him around corners. Then sometimes, just sometimes, if one is lucky, they'll catch Lurker turn around and engage Chirp in a quick game, whether that be a little wrestling match or chasing the kitten through the base after she bit too hard on his tail. Though Ace and Flower are simply happy those two get along as well as they do.
► PersonalityHardy • Individualistic • Antagonistic • Particular • Selectively Social • Challenging
Guarded • Blunt • Tenacious • Protective • Arrogant • Enduring • Tactful • Charming
Lurker is a hardy and tenacious individual, he's had to live it rough, beginning his life in the pits and having to scavenge for energon throughout his entire life. He's dodged death a vast number of times and has managed to survive even the most severe of injuries. While those who'd see his life would say this is simply luck, much of it is also Lurker's tenacity, his unwillingness to give in. This determination to live is also what had him survive the entirety of the great war. This tenacity has also given Lurker an antagonistic personality, if he feels threatened, he's going to puff himself up and begin to hiss, he's been through too much to simply trust everyone he comes across and it takes a lot of patience to win him over.
This bot is very individualistic and particular, he is himself in all circumstances and refuses to change for anyone. If people can't accept him as he is, then they're going to find themselves with some nice new scratches. He is particular and socially selective about who he trusts and whom he considers as his people. Lurker doesn't warm up to just anyone, having been beaten and betrayed a number of times, his friendship is a valuable and delicate thing. He is a guarded individual who doesn't allow just anyone to get close to him, it has kept him safe through his life and he's not about to change that now.
Because of his experience and his ability to survive most situations, it has caused him to acquire an air of arrogance. He believes he is better than most others because of his age and all he's been through. As such, it makes it more difficult for him to get close to people, he simply doesn't believe they're worth his attentions. Despite this, Lurker can come across as a tactful and charming individual, he knows how to get people on side and it simply another mechanism that helps him to survive. Despite his tactful nature, however, he's also a very blunt individual, he sees things as they are and if tact isn't required of him, he can be a little abrasive in his manner.
When Lurker decides some people are his people, however, he'll do everything in his power to protect them. He hasn't had many things in his life, he never had a loving home with loving owners, and so once he found those things, he'll make well sure that nothing touches them. He can be very protective when he feels his people are threatened and approaches new people with caution. He's not a cat worth messing with and as such one would do best to have him as a friend.
► HistoryLurker was created several cycles before the great war. At the bottom of the food chain, he was an anomaly, cast out onto the streets to fend for himself. At first everything was overwhelming, it all moved too fast. Lurker found himself overwhelmed and simply ran, he kept going. More than once he was nearly hit by a cybertronian in their vehicle mode as they raced past, though it only served to scare him further.
Soon Lurker found himself far below ground where he came across a place known as the pits. Here Gladiators would fight to the death for the entertainment of the citizens. Although illegal, the Pits were allowed to remain open and the councillors that governed society turned a blind eye to the horrors, recognising that people needed an outlet. At first Lurker found it difficult to survive, the screams of gladiators as they were torn apart in the pits was drowned out only by the roar of the crowd who watched on. Energon was not difficult to find, however, it was spilled on a regular basis and the robot-feline got used to lapping up the life-blood of dead gladiators for sustenance.
It was not a good life in the pits, but eventually Lurker learned how to live. He learned which bots to flee from on sight, the ones that would shoot at him immediately or come after him. He learned which bots to simply be wary of, knowing they would, at some point, throw things at him like blades or blunt objects. But best of all, he knew which bots to seek out. Which would allow him to curl up beside them on a cold night, the ones that would feed him when they had the rations to spare. It wasn't a comfortable life, but Lurker got used to it.
Eventually, however, things began to change. Lurker noticed it in the air, gladiators would speak to each other quietly in the halls, no longer had they the dead-eyed look of slaves but instead they seemed eager and full of life. Something had sparked them into movement, into action. As the days passed, the activity began to grow, unbeknownst to Lurker, a young Gladiator was beginning to rally those who had for years been treated as garbage and forced to kill for the entertainment of others. Lurker simply knew that something was going to change. And it did. One day the Gladiators rose up, they rushed out of the pits in order to claim control of the corrupt government. Lurker only saw them leaving, he saw his home being abandoned and his source of food going with it. So, for the first time in a long time, Lurker returned to the surface. So begun the war. The cat watched once great and beautiful cities fall to ash amidst the fighting of the civil war that slowly consumed the planet. While refined energon was becoming more rare by the day, killing off animal-like bots such as himself. However Lurker was kept alive on the life-blood of fallen cybertronians, and it was in abundance.
But, Lurker would always prefer refined energon, proper food. So amidst the gun-fire and the screams, he began to seek out food. It was a hard life, the cat learned how to avoid injury, he avoided trusting people and those people in turn had no time for him, not while their very lives were under threat. Eventually Lurker came across a ship, he knew energon was here, refined energon and much of it. Sneaking onto the ship, he found enough of a source to stay there for a while. The ship, however, wasn't, and soon took to space with Lurker still on board. He remained hidden from those around him, knowing he needed to be wary when he chanced upon a room that looked very much like the pits where he used to live. Dried energon was splashed up the walls and an air of terror hung over the room. Lurker investigated cautiously and was soon chanced upon by Flower, a massive blue mech who lived in that very room. He acted as if he was high almost constantly, often remarking upon random things or speaking to himself, and that was because he was indeed high almost constantly, his mind often moving too fast or too muddled for him to process correctly. Flower was the interrogator on the Nemesis, feared for his abilities and his temper. But the hippie took an immediate liking to Lurker, and slowly began to earn his trust.
As time went on, Lurker became more and more comfortable around the interrogator, unfazed by the torture that went on in that room, conditioned to the screaming that would fill the room as often as the Decepticons could provide Flower with Autobots to interrogate. As time went on, Flower taught Lurker to remain in the room and to hide whenever others would enter the room, it kept him safe from those that would seek to harm him. As long as Lurker was provided for, which he was, he was happy to remain in that room with only the occasional venture out through the vents, for once, Lurker experienced that comfortable life. He received genuine affection and he formed a bond with the blue mech.
But then things began to change, Flower began spending less time with him, more time with another bot whom he'd struck up a friendship with. Lurker saw less of his friend after that, but all the same, he remained there, Flower had earned his trust. So he'd wait in that room for the hippie, he'd wait there until the mech returned to feed him and give him attention. But then things got even worse, Lurker had gone on one of his little outings around the ship, walking through the vents and observing what he saw around. But when he returned, he found things in complete chaos. The room had been destroyed, energon splashed across the walls, table overturned and his friend sitting curled up in the corner. Lurker went down to try and find out what was wrong with his friend, he could practically feel the grief from his now broken friend.
Try as he might, Lurker could not elicit a response from the big mech, so he simply sat with him. Having seen the vents hinging open, the others had become suspicious, sealing it up before leaving, it blocked Lurker's usual route out and left him only the door, yet still he stayed. He remained like that for some time, days perhaps, until the hippie finally got up, but as he walked out that door, Lurker moved to follow him, yet this time, the door slammed shut in his face, leaving the feline alone in the room. Lurker called to him, over and over again, trying to tell him that he was locked in here, trapped, he tried everything to get out the door, to follow his broken friend. But Flower didn't come back, he didn't even acknowledge his existence.
Lurker remained in that room, crying out for his friend, trying to tell him that he was trapped in here, that he couldn't get out. He saw Flower twice more, walking past the room he was locked in. Both time Lurker began to call to him, but the hippie looked straight through him, as if he didn't exist. Lurker was left in that room, becoming more and more starved, unable to get out, slowly dying. That was until someone did open the doors, a silver mech this time, one Lurker had never seen. This one spoke to him, softly, quietly, he picked up Lurker's weak form and took him away from there, took him somewhere safe.
Slowly Lurker was nursed back to health, he found himself in a new place where he was well fed, and here, there was plenty of space and plenty of open vents with which he could get away. While Flower's betrayal had wounded his trust, he slowly began to give it to Ace, the silver mech who'd saved him. It wasn't until one day Ace went out for a little while, quite some time in fact, but he left the doors open and energon readily available, and so Lurker allowed it to happen, and even came to greet him when he saw the bridge open once more, but it wasn't only Ace who came through this time, now behind him followed a familiar blue form.
Flower.

ReasonsSo I was browsing through these adoption centres, looking for some new babies to incorporate into some of my stories and I saw this little guy. Immediately I knew he'd fit in perfectly with one of my main story-lines that I plot with a friend of mine. It's a story based off the Transformers series featuring my OC, Accelerate, and my friend's OC, Flower. Now, Flower is essentially the crazy cat-lady, he just loves them, so when I saw this little one, I knew he'd be awesome for the story and fit well into the family.
He'll most likely be drawn as Ace and Flower are essentially the subject of every drawing we do and he'll certainly be RP'ed and placed into a few stories.
