- [[I volunteered to help out with VBS and got put in charge of a group of kids.
Today, they kept telling me to take off my hat and glasses (I wear these huge aviators for the sake of being able to see a wider area & not getting stuff in my eyes). I eventually gave in and then one of them went,
"Oh! Now you look like a normal girl! You're so pretty!"
They all got really wide-eyed and some even had their mouths hanging open in shock lol
And I thought my friends' reaction to me taking off my glasses was great, but man, the kids've got 'em beat.

As soon as I got to my house I learned that the mailbox was broken again & my mother insisted on fixing the old, bent-up, rusty latch again even though I'd always told her to just get a new one. It'd finally broken beyond repair and the door was hanging down so she finally took my advice and we went to a home improvement store. She was so angry she literally complained about every single driver on the road and having to fix it by herself when she kept refusing all of my help & suggestions, and how she was going to have to pay so much and spend a lot of time looking for a whole new mailbox that was up to subdivision standards, etc. We got there & I led her to the hardware section and we found a new latch for a dollar tops. We got home and all it took was to unscrew the old latch, use the old screws and screw the new one in. It took like 3 minutes.
She'd spent hours trying to fix the old latch before I got home. I'm still not sure whether to feel really bad for her or laugh because she was just that stubborn. Getting to the store, finding & buying the latch & then replacing it only took about 15 minutes. There were issues with the old latch on and off for years and all it took to fix it was 15 minutes, a bit of gas, and a dollar.
A friend of mine had just recently told me that kids are basically like adults and vice-versa and I totally understand now xD]]
