The cool winter breeze blows through her hair as she checks the time on her watch. "Are you Gardella?" a voice asks. She quickly looks up and says "Ummm yes. That me." The other kalon smiles and hands her a single flower. "Oh my! It's so pretty. The color is so unique." she exclaims, " What is its name?" The kalon replies gleefully, "It's called the Queen of the Night Tulip, just like how you are my queen." Gardella looks at him in the eyes and then asks with a smile, "You're Logan then? Nice to finally meet you." "Same to you." he says.

It was now near the end of spring. The refreshing breeze flows through Gardella's home bringing in the scent of flowers. She recently started a mini garden on her porch. Gardella sits in her mainly white living room. "Hey how are you holding up?" A female kalon asks on the phone. "Okay I guess..." Gardella mumbles in response looking out her window. " You sure don't sound okay." the kalon on the phone said with concern in her voice. Gardella stares at the Queen of Night Tulips on her windowsill as they dance in the wind. "Gardella?" the other kalon asks with concern. "Oh what! Sorry." She squeaks and then sighs, "Sorry Merabella. I have to hang up. See you soon?" Gardella quickly ends the call and walked over to the tulips. She closes her eyes to reminisce about Logan. "These flowers reminds me of your eyes when they're in the sun and when the sun shines through the petal!" Logan said as he gently touched the flower petals. "Gross, too cheesy!" Gardella laughed. "Hehe just kidding!" The sound of the nearby church bells snaps her back into reality. "Oh it's getting late. I need start cooking dinner." she says as she walks out of the room.

It has been a few years now since he has first met her in real life. They have been friends online for awhile before. He stayed with her a couple of months before leaving. Yet, she still wishes he would come back. Every time she looks at the Queen of the Night Tulip, she is reminded of him.

Acel didn't know where he was going, only that he needed to keep walking. If he could focus on just putting on foot in front of the other, he would be okay. Everything was just overwhelming him. New city, new school, new job. He was on his own for the first time, and he felt slightly lost. He shoved his hands in his pockets and muttered to himself out loud, take a deep breath.

He stopped when he felt a tap on his head, looked up to see a few petals falling from a tree, and picked one out of his hair. He was surprised when tears started to prick at his eyes.

"Magnolias have a lot of different meanings," he remembered his father telling him, as they watched the flowers bloom on the trees in their backyard. "They can mean purity and perfection. Health and joy and innocence. Strength and nobility." The man had laughed. "Plus they smell really nice."

He smiled at the memory and wiped at his face. This tree reminded him of home and he felt a little better, determination winning over doubt. He could do this. {191 words}

Explanation: "Don't cacti hurt if you touch them Maggie??!" Miles asked as he watched Maggie touch one straight on. "Not this one. This one If the Nicholi, his species being echinocereus nicholii." they replied happily, proud that they owned one. The sight of their flowers was rare, and the fact tyhat they owned one overjoyed them. "Look at their astonichingly gorgeous flowers, Miles." Maggie said, in awe of their light pink petals and bright red centers. So intriguing.. How exquisite, really. Maggie thought to themselves, and stopped tending to tangled spikes of the cactus, and placed the pot back to its place on the windowsill, next to other cacti of different species. Nicoli had been owned by Maggie since their years of being a little kalon. They had grown attached to him, and so they had grown fond of them and their flowers.

Their favorite flower is one connected to a cactus, known as an echinocereus nicholii. They love how spiny and dangerous the cacti looks, and how it can still bloom a beautiful and fragile flower as such. How perfect, they think. The simple act of mentioning that specific cacti & its flower brings them to simple ease and care-free happiness. They simply feel safer, relaxed, and just simply put, better. Nothing makes them feel as safe & sound as how they feel with their beloved cactus. [227/500] wip??
