Yeah I wanted to be a K-9 or a Mounted Police Officer, Might become one, but I have to finish school and figure out what I want to do with my life first! Zookeeper or Cop, I have no idea what one I want more!

...hm should I apply to be an artist or not. I am still new to it and I don't know a ton of time for posting horses. Although I am going though exams right now so I'll have time to do it afterwards. *looks over at Pine Forest, feeling bad for not being able to post any horses*

Meeting the horse

It had been a while travelling towards the academy. To say that I was nervous would be an understatement, what if I don't pass? What happens if I don't fit in? Breathing a heavy sigh, I shook the negative thoughts from my head, my gaze peering over at the suitcase in the passenger seat and the pile of books on horsemanship and care and of course a few other books as a personal preference. I had had previous experience with horses before and loved nothing better than a challenge. Parking in front of the academy in one of the assigned spaces, I entered into the reception or at least I thought it was the reception. Looking around the space was large and airy. Although it did have an intimidating feel. Taking a deep breathe I dragged myself and my belongs up to the desk, gave my details and my room number. As well as my assigned horse. Her name was Alex. I had seen pictures on the website and she was a beautiful Dark Bay Tobiano. However, I would have to wait until the next morning in which to visit her, for now I would just try and settle myself in.

The alarm was loud and annoying, "Ugh..." I groaned, sitting myself up and preparing for the morning. I would meet Alex today. I was excited and I just hoped she was a beautiful in real life as she was in the pictures. Walking into the stables, I could see the four stables and the horse I would be paired up with, Alex. Stepping forward, I held my hand out as she smelt it and snorted loudly. "Ew..." I muttered, wiping my hand on my jacket. "Thanks Alex." I told her, moving my hand up to pet her head and cheeks. Bringing out a small piece of carrot I held it to her mouth as she nibbled and ate is quickly. Her ears moved forward looking for me, luckily for her I had a fair view pieces in my pockets. This would be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

First ride

It had been a few days and I was building the trust between my mount and I and so far the way to her heart was through food I had brought a variety with me and she was more than happy to take it. Today, however, I would be riding her. It wouldn't be anything special just in the training hall. It was a nice day so hopefully it would be too difficult. Heading into the tack room, I pulled Alex's from the rack and headed to her stall. I unlock and slide the stall door open to be met with a nose in my pocket searching for treats. "After I get the tack on Alex, then you can have a treat." receiving a snort in return, I tacked her up with little difficulty. Bribery seemed to be the way forward. Removing a few delicious morsels from my pocket I allowed her take them from my hand. With that we talked quietly towards the training hall.

The sand was soft beneath my boots and it seemed Alex wasn't the least bit bothered. Since I had experience with horses and was more than confident in riding them, it was necessary for a spotter, however, there was always someone close by should something go wrong. I had heard this mare was stubborn and challenging when it came to riding. Taking her inside, I mounted her swiftly and made myself comfortable in the saddle. Kicking her sides gently she refused to move. Sighing, I gently kicked her sides again and only earned a step forward. "Well... this certainly isn't going to plan..." I nudged her gently and got a few more stops. Tapping her rump rather sternly, her ears went forward and entered a steady walk. "There we go." I muttered, keeping her at a steady pace before breaking into a rising trot and switching into a sitting trot. Her gait was even and she offered a smooth ride, despite her stubbornness she was the perfect mount. Kicking her up into a canter, we travelled in a few circles around the training hall. After about an hour and a half I decided to end the session there.

Group training session

We had had a few single sessions with our horses and now we were to be invited as a small group in which to train in. The horses already being tacked up, we mounted our horses and began at a steady walk. Alex as per usual needing that little extra encouragement to do what she was told. The instructor was sure to keep an eye o Alex and offer encouragement of her own via noises and a long rope if need be. Stepping up into a trot, the group circled around the training hall. We then did some training sessions as far a chasing people on foot etc.

High speed travel

Today was the today we could push our horses to the limits. We'd being increasing the speeds we were going each time we had trained together. To say I was excited was an understatement, ever since hearing about it I could barely contain it. Mounting Alex, I would be the last out of our group of four in which try out high speed travel with our new horses. Watching the others fly by was mesmerising. Of course, we weren't doing this in the training hall. An area specially designed for this kind of thing was used. Lining myself and Alex up, we waited impatiently for the instructor to tell us to go for it. Alex moved from foot to foot, her rump swinging, but at the instructor yelled for us to go, Alex was quick off the mark. Picking up her speed. The thundering of her hooves was intrinsic and I enjoyed the wind rushing through my hair. Kicking her sides roughly, Alex had more juice in her and increased her speed again. I was surprised but the smile on my face wouldn't leave. Watching the end near, I slowed her down and turned smoothly, trotting her back towards the others. I couldn't stop smiling. It was a fantastic feeling and the rush of adrenaline gave me a buzz. I would love to o it again but by the sound of Alex's heavy breathing, I have a feeling she would say otherwise.

First field mission, how do you feel?

Okay, today is the day in which I go out on my first patrol. I have been paired with another officer who has more experience than I do. That calmed my nerves a little bit but I still couldn't shake the butterflies from my stomach. I had been put onto a beach patrol and would simply walk up and down the beach making sure everyone was doing what they were supposed to be. When we arrived the beach was busy and there was a lot of noise. Luckily, Alex had passed with flyting colours during the noise desensitisation part of the course. Walking her out, I tacked her up with the police colours and her own little badge. Mounting Alex, I followed the older officer out onto the beach. Alex walking unsteadily down the ramp to the beach. The sky was clear and the sun was shining brightly. Wearing this uniform already had me sweating. Sighing, I followed the officer on his horse and stood still for a few moments before continuing on. Several people, children and adults alike came up to talk to us about the horses and see if they could pet them. We were out there for several hours and nothing interesting seemed to happen but the experience was enjoyable nonetheless.

Final Exams and Results

I was excited and nervous, butterflies rolled and twisted my stomach to the point where I couldn't eat. I had come along with a few friends I had made along the course of our teaching. They were just as nervous as I was. Lining up, we were handed our envelopes that contained our results. "Open them all together?" I suggested, receiving a few nods. Taking a deep breath we opened our envelopes. My eyes lit up, "I... I... Passed!" Tears began to well up in my eyes, I was so happy and relieved. All the hard work I had put into this had paid off. Laughing awkwardly, my friends had passed alongside me. However, I was quickly dragged into a group hug. Looking around a lot of people were feeling the same euphoria we were but there were a few who's faces were solemn and disappointed. They probably didn't pass. Sighing gently, I felt sorry for them. They probably worked just as hard as we did. Dragged from my thought, my friends suggested going out to celebrate and of course I couldn't turn that down. The smile retuning to my face, I paused. "I just have to go to the stables." Running towards them, I had a few of Alex's favourite treats in my pocket. "I'm sorry... if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have passed." I handed her the treats and spent a few moments stroking her face before having to leave her behind. Although it was sad, know I would be able to have a selection of my own horses.
