Hello there, and welcome to Florfaunas!

What's a Florfauna? These are adorable little creatures that are both plant and animal! Each Florfauna is unique as each one is based on a plant, and wherever their specific plant is they are too. Most have their own "garden" they look after and maintain- Florfaunas start out as a seed-like egg, which their "mother" (like plants, all Florfaunas are both male and female) will bury in the ground along with multiple seeds of their plant species.

Florfaunas are usually very docile and friendly, so they make good house pets, but be careful which one you pick: while they all get energy from photosynthesis, some prefer a more meaty diet... and some even have venom or are poisonous to touch!

Here's what a Florfauna looks like:

This is Aster, a Poppy Florfauna and our mascot! They were the first official Florfauna to ever be created. They're a basic Flower type, but you can also get Tree types, Water types and Bush types; and you can have as many of these beautiful pets as you like.

Many Florfaunas have now been found, but new areas are always being discovered for people to hunt for more pets. Florfaunas have their rarity based on how rare their plant is, so look carefully! Who knows- you might find something extraordinary.

Rules
If you break the rules you will be given a strike- if you reach 3 strikes it will be a ban! Your Florfaunas will then be taken from you and put in the Shelter for others to take.

1. You can use Florfaunas on other sites, but only for your own use. Please make sure to link them back here!

Florfauna Types

There are many different and wonderful kinds of Florfauna, and with enough searching there'll be a huge variety to choose from- everything from herbs to waterlilies to venus flytraps! All these different kinds are sorted into 4 main groups: Flowers/Small Plants, Bushes, Water Plants and Trees.

Flowers/Small Plants

Usually between the size of a mouse and a cat, these sweet little Florfaunas are found pretty much anywhere a plant can survive. Many thrive in peoples gardens and they can often be seen lazing in the sun to get energy. They have a lovely temperament and are wonderful with children, plus their beautiful flowers and excellent agility and physique are often admired; meaning there are many shows and competitions to get the best Flower Florfauna. As a house pet, they don't need much either- just a place for their garden, space for them to run and plenty of sunshine.

Bush/Shrub

Roughly the size of a medium dog, Bush Florfaunas aren't as flashy or energetic as Flower Florfaunas, but they are extremely loving and loyal. They tend to be laid-back and relaxed and so are more suitable for older children or adults. They also don't hibernate through the winter for as long as other Florfauna types, and are very affectionate- so they are perfect to cuddle with on cold winter evenings by the fire. The only issue with this type is that during the warmer months their manes can quickly grow out of control and they must be carefully trimmed into shape. With training you can get them to tolerate this, but just don't try trimming their garden...

Water Plants

Water Plant Florfaunas are said to be the most elegant type of Florfauna, as while they have no leaf mane their flowers are almost always waterlilies and are extremely beautiful. When full grown, they are only about the size of an otter, and this also attributes to them being in high demand as accessory pets. In the wild, these Florfaunas are excellent swimmers and spend their days floating on the water's surface, occasionally leaving the water to sunbathe on the riverbank. They are also hunters, having few leaves on their body for photosynthesis, and so they must supplement their diet with insects or small fish- it's not uncommon to see a waterlily Florfauna using the flower on it's tail as bait, pulling it underwater when insects land on it.

Trees

Starting out at kitten size, but eventually reaching large dog or even pony size, Tree Florfaunas are the gentle giants of their kind. They often seek bonds with people, other Florfaunas and even different animals to fulfill their naturally loving and generous nature, and while they have sharp claws these are purely for climbing rather than combat. They don't have territories for their "garden" like other Florfaunas and will happily let other creatures make their homes in the tree- unless of course, the animal starts doing major damage to it. Tree Florfaunas protect their tree at all costs, and will even give their life to defend it and the other creatures that live there too.

Florfauna Markings

Along with the huge variety of species, Florfaunas also have a lovely range of markings! Some are naturally evolved as camouflage to survive in the wild, while some are markings bred for show, or even the results of rare genetics!

Florfauna Shelter

Sometimes, Florfauna are found wandering around the area. Some are wild, and some are tame but are lost or have been abandoned. Some pets are also brought in by owners who no longer want their Florfauna. When this happens, they are put into the shelter, and are given the chance to have a new loving home!

Hunting

Once a week, there's a chance to find go hunting and look for items, clothing or even some beautiful wild Florfaunas! There's many places to search, and you can buy items from the shop to boost your chances of finding better stuff!

Locations


The Garden: A beautiful garden where lots of Florfauna like to visit and bask in the sunshine. There's mostly herb or fruit/vegetable Florfaunas, but you'll also find some lovely flower types here. Occasionally, wild Florfauna types from outside the garden like to sneak in too!


Forest: This strange secluded forest somehow has a mix of plants from all over the world. Despite the difference in climate and temperatures however, the plants seem to flourish anyway. A huge number of Tree Florfauna dwell here; almost double the population of all other Florfauna types combined! Flower Florfauna are also high in numbers, despite the decreased sunlight on the forest floor. This forest has a lot to offer, but is very big so remember to bring a map!


Lake: Discovered in the shade of a large mountain, this tranquil lake is a safe haven for Water Florfauna due to the abundance of food and thriving plant life. From the smallest waterlilies to the tallest reeds, it seems that every aquatic plant can be found here! Additionally, due to the forest around the lake other Florfauna types often frequent the area. Just be careful when searching, there are much larger animals in the woods...


Savannah: Located in the heart of Kenya, this huge expanse of savannah is filled with an abundance of wildlife. Florfaunas here are hard to find as they tend to hide more and are less friendly, due to the other hostile predators around them. However, the ones you can find are extremely bright and diverse. Among the long grass you'll find hidden beauties such as Birds of Paradise and Protea flowers or occasionally cacti, and in the rare patches of shade dwell Acacia and Baobab trees among the shrubs and bushes. Despite all that awaits here, explore with caution- or you might end up with some lions coming over for lunch.

This water is said to have come from the Fountain of Youth, and sparkles with a magical energy. It will revert any Florfauna you choose to PPS form.


Lantern - 4
This lantern increases the chances of finding Florfauna when hunting, as they are drawn to the warm glow. It also helps calm them down and decreases their chances of being hostile.


Blue Lantern - 4
This lantern emits a beautiful blue light that Florfauna, particularly rarer types, seem to love for some reason. It won't increase the chances of finding Florfauna while hunting, but it will increase the chances of any you do find being rarer.

Florfauna's first major event! There's a lot planned for the next few weeks, so come join the festive fun!

After investigating the mysterious pawprints, Aster found this sweet little baby Florfauna that was lost in the snow, and brought them to the Shelter. Luckily the little critter was still in fairly good shape, and while the shelter staff were looking after it they decided to give it a nickname: "Gingerbread" after their markings.

Unfortunately, Gingerbread is a wild Florfauna, and too young to go up for adoption, so it would be better to return them to the wild- but we don't know where their home is!

However, with Aster's help we mapped out an area where that home may be:

Choose a square on the map with the form provided and search the area within there (the results will be provided every few days). After a square has been searched, it cannot be picked again so choose wisely! Along the way, you may be faced with choices that will affect the outcome- you can find special Christmas items and loot for your Florfaunas, or... you may end up in a less pleasant situation.There's also a big prize for whoever finds Gingerbread's home- but that's a surprise you'll have to find out later!

REMEMBER: If the square has a red dot, someone has already chosen the square for that round. If it has a red cross, that square has been used in a previous round and cannot be picked again.

Recently the owner of a christmas tree farm found that his farm was overpopulated with huge numbers of Florfaunas, who were additionally very defensive about having their trees cut down for sale. However, instead of forcing them out he very kindly donated them AND all their respective trees to the Shelter! It's now been decided that to spread the Christmas cheer everyone can receive a special Florfauna- although unfortunately the trees don't come with decorations, so you'll have to find or buy your own items to equip. (Hint: the hunting event often has 1-of-a-kind decorations!)
