Do you have a fursona? Tell us about them!
Yes, actually, I have two. The first one is Artemis. She's just a simple snow leopard. I sometimes she where's a necklace with a crystal hanging from it. She is super sweet and loves to play and have fun!
What do you think multiple fursonas?
I love the idea of multiple fursonas! I think it gives you a chance to show different parts of your personality in each fursona. While one may be representing your positive traits, another can be representing your negative traits, while another shows some of your talents. However, I would think that a good number to keep would be three at maximum. If you have too many fursonas, then they won't be as special anymore.
If you have more that one fursona, tell us why, and what they mean to you!
Ah. My first fursona, Artemis, I already talked about. Snow leopards are my favorite animal, so that's mostly why I chose her. Plus I wanted to make a happy character! My second fursona I just made very recently. His name is Ammon, and he's a jackal. An Egyptian themed jackal. I have always been fascinated by Egyptology (or really anything with ancient gods) so I really wanted to make him. I also didn't want to make a cat or regular dog or wolf because there are so many of those out there. So that's why I thought a jackal would be cool. I like to think of Ammon as the kind that you might not want to be friends with because as soon as there's trouble, he'll turn his back on you. He is sort of the con-man type, and he is very clever, tricky, mischievous, thieving, and dashingly handsome.

Guys i have a conundrum and need your input.

So I have a closed species character that I've had for a while now, and someone is willing to offer something I like, that is worth more, but is not something I was actively seeking. I haven't really used the char but I do like her and have a sentimental attachment because she has the same unusual haircut that I do, which is why I wanted her originally.

I've had dealings with this person before and they were a bit persnickety so I'm not sure if that's what it is, but they had offered me something I wasn't interested in but it was worth more which they stated in a very annoying way in response to me saying I needed a bit to decide because I like the char.

@Emris: I can't really help. But if you are too attached to your character just keep them <3 Even if they tell you they are offering something that's worth more, if you are not interested in and don't want to trade your character, don't do it<3

adding to the recent convo ( i love it when someone asks a question that sparks a huge debate ), as someone who's been in the caaa for three years, I agree that it's changed a lot. However, I've also seen all the failed attempts to change the rules, and I, personally, don't think that a 12/24 hour is the best solution. I know a few threads that have a rule where you have to comment on at least 3 people for every post, and those work really well from what i've seen! for example, the kalon fanclub has that rule, and it's a very open and connected community! I think a rule or something like that would be great! ( also did anyone else notice that as soon at hnai posted and ppl started the discussion ppl started to have more convos/questions haha )

I have two because I'm indecicive and also have multiple sides to my personality I feel like? Carter is more happy and talkative and outgoing, while egg is more chill and thought-oriented

On my last website, I just edited their refs into circular icons as a preview, but I'm working on a new one and making icons like this for each char

Do you have a certain goal of 'development' for your characters? Like a certain amount of art or a certain amount of writing? A form you fill out for all of them?
I really want a well written personality and story for all my character, but as usual I never have the time for it. And tbh I'm not the best writer either T__T
And I always want more art of my oc's but I never know who to order art of lol

What do you do AFTER you reach that goal, after you feel you've 'developed' the character. Do you just leave them at a standstill? Do you keep your characters/their development fluid?
Once I'm done I usually leave them for sometime while I work on some other ones. But I always go back and tweak/add more to them in the end x3

Right now there's a mix of refs and icons but when I'm done there will be tags for all of them!

Yes I do! I have to actually.
My first sona I made about 7-8 years ago. He is a very large direwolf named Ripper.
He represents me in many ways, or at least the way I was a few years ago.. But he's still a very big part of me. He can be a total jerk and has a very hot temper. He will snap at you for pretty much nothing.
My second sona is much more like me. Artemis is shy, childish and explosive. I made her about 3-4 years ago since I felt Ripper was abit outdated.

What do you think multiple fursonas?
I don't think there's anything wrong with it, since I myself have two of them!
And I think it's a good way if you're having trouble making just one that will represent all of you^^

Well I do have two, and the reason is cause I felt that Ripper didn't really represent all of me. Since I made him so long ago and I have grown quite abit since he was made.
I made Artemis when I met my bf and I actually designed his sona as well. I felt that it was time to make another sona that represented me in a better way and one that had a made so I could get alot of cute couple art ^_^

@Emris ~ I'd say if you're attached to her, keep her. Especially if you've had issues with the possible buyer before. Because once it's done, it's done, and you can't do anything about it. So I think it'd be a good idea not to let her go unless you completely trust the person.


Also, the question about fursonas and multiple fursonas has got me thinking, and honestly I think Jacky is my persona.

whos actions often slip through his own grasp before he can decide
what the right thing to do would be. spontaneous and greatly imaginative,
he's been collecting photos of the environment since he was little, and
has covered his homes walls with elaborate and extremely detailed paintings
and sketches of imaginary worlds and what he believes could be
residing on distant planets. he's always blabbering about his creations, and
loves to boast about everything he's thought up, and enjoys hearing
feedback on such ideas and pointers and judgement that could help him in
his works. he's so intent on keeping room for more that he has absolutely
NOTHING on or against any of his walls, even his appliances are pushed far enough
away to allow room for him to squeeze in and paint something.

maybe like, one person? most of my friends aren't into characters and if they are, they are more into fan characters (which usually isn't my cup of tea) so i don't tell many people about my characters

How do you come up with names and personalities for each character?
i get inspiration from songs, honestly. i'll listen to a song or 3 and create a character around the songs messages. then the rest just kinda forms itself

probably Dan DeLeon because he's big and cute and all i ever wanted from anyone

If you could improve one skill you have as a person in regards to characters, what would it be? (I.E make more art, write more background, etc)
roleplay more. i like rping but i get so bored so quickly (after like 2 replies) and i just stop. sometimes it just depends on the person (i really like rping with huskybeb) or the plot (i can't start without an end result in mind or the rp won't go anywhere) but over all, i don't rp as much as i used to, maybe its because before, i would do group rps but now i really only do 1x1 rps? or maybe because before i would put little effort into my two sentence reply and now i take time to think about what i'm gonna do with these 1-3 paragraphs?? i don't know what happened but i just don't rp as much as i'd like too anymore

Firstly I wanted to show a new piece of art I got from Sadbloom of my fursona Tsuki

It's actually a valentines piece but whats nice about most valentines pieces is that they work throughout the year really, same with valentines characters if you think about it. Hearts are less restrictive than say santa hats.

Dee: does the bag over his face mean anything?

does anyone in the "real world" know about your chars? ( family/friends etc )
My mom knows a little...there is no way I will ever ever let my brothers or dad find out. As for friends I tried to explain it, but they don't get it so I just keep it to myself mainly.

Do you have a certain goal of 'development' for your characters? Like a certain amount of art or a certain amount of writing? A form you fill out for all of them?
Not really, characters develop as I think of them

How do you represent your characters on a site/ toyhouse/folders? Do you just put refs as the preview,do you use icons? Buy (or draw) tags?
ICONS! And full body icons at that if I can! Just going by names its often over whelming looking at a site cuz to find what you want you have to click every single name. Headshots are meh...you atleast have a 1/5 preview of the character but theres so much missing and you could easily skip over awesomeness.
Banners are awesome and fun but they seem more like something thats on the character's page instead of the thing you click on to go see the character.

Yes I do *points up*
She is a Kitsuneko, meaning she is a mixture of Kitsune and Bakeneko. Alot of people use Kitsuneko as fox + cat, in Tsuki's case I use it as the mythical versions instead which I have never seen anyone else with a bakeneko hybred, though tsuki is mostly kitsune ill give them that. Shes been my fursona like...3 years? She is meant to be myself if I was in a fantasy world with magic and fluffyness lol. And oddly shes my 2nd character ever.

What do you think multiple fursonas?
I use to be against it, now though its alright. I have 3 characters I call soul characters which for me are 1 step down from fursona, others may call them secondary sonas but sense they don't represent me as a whole i don't see them as fursonas.

Captain: I must admit I like weresphynxs much more then regular sphynxes. The regular ones kinda creep me out but the were ones are sorta cute.

I would like to start an actual flowing discussion. This means that this isn't just a answer the question in bold. This means I'll put something faily vague down and you all get to talk about it. Because someone asked about fursonas we will start with that.
I want to know from you all what qualifies as a fursona? And anything else that you all want to talk about with each other about fursonas.

I think that a fursona in some way must represent the owner, preferably the entirety of the owner in some way. To me the fursona is the person made into a fluffy cartoon.
