Favorite small holiday; Tanabata
Tanabata (also known as Star festival, ไธๅค) is a small Japanese holiday that means "Evening of the seventh". It is derived from the Chinese Qixi Festival, and it celebrates the meeting of two stars known as Orihame and Hikoboshi. But they can also be referred to by Vega and Altair. The legend that goes along with this, is that the Milky way separates these two star-lovers, and they are only allowed to meet once out of a year on the seveneth day of the seventh lunar month. The date of this event varies by your location and country. But out of the gregorian calendar, it starts on July seventh. It may also be held various days out of August as well.
It was introduced to Japan by Empress Kลken in 755. The festival quickly gained popularity and attention among the general public. Eventually, it even became mixed with various bon (another japanese tradition) traditions. The customs of the festival varied by your country and region at the time. Generally, the population as a whole would wish for better sewing, better craftsmanship, and better handwriting. However, in modern-time, Bon is now held on August fifteenth and is now recognized as a separate holiday.
In modern day, it is celebrated with writing and forms of poetry wishes. You would then write down your wishes on tanzaku (small paper), and hang them on bamboo and other decorations. You would then set them afloat on a river or burn them after the festival at midnight. This sort of is similar to custom paper ships and candles on rivers during Obon.
And lastly, I'd like to mention the traditional Tanabata song: " The bamboo leaves rustle, shaking away in the eaves. The stars twinkle
on the gold and silver grains of sand. The five-colour paper strips I have already written. The stars twinkle, they watch us from heaven. "

UPDATE;; July | 20 | 2020
|| I've officially left this site. To those who built me up, who encouraged me, who offered me company and roleplayed with me despite my rather juvenile behavior, and who joined me in OC competitions, I want to thank you! This site introduced me to things that would mold and impact my life forever, and would help me find my dream career and grow myself as a person. I may have moved on from CS, but I will never forget my roots, nor will I forget the sheer happiness this site brought and the amazing people I've had the incredible pleasure of meeting. Thank you all so much for helping me to get to where I am today. <3 ||

Small update: If you are applying with the intention to transfer this bean to another species, I would like to request that you refrain from entering, as we're trying to give people a chance to win one last JBD or two to keep as JBDs. Thank you!
