Before I start this off, I'd like to talk to you about apples or, more specifically, Malus Sargentii, the scientific name for a species of crab apple, more commonly called the Sargent's crab apple (I have decided to name the plumie after its scientific name though).

This crab apple is known for it's fragrant white flowers, which bloom in spring. However, I picked it not just for its beauty, but for its simplicity, personality, and- of course- its name. After all, if I am naming this plumie after an apple tree, I should like its name, right?

Now that you've hopefully learned a little bit more about this particular species of crab apple, let me introduce you to the plumie. His name is Sargentii Zolnerowich-which, as you can probably tell, is quite a mouthful for one tiny plumerian. He's 10, but quite mature for his age, which causes some neighbors to wistfully comment at his maturity compared to their own unruly offspring and others to give off a startled laugh when they hear such peculiar thoughts and manners coming out of his small body.

He lives in Colmar, France, surrounded by a treasure trove of history, to an ex-Russian soldier and and an actress- albeit for the theater. He has a twin brother named Vishyna, who seems to get both his and Sargentii's share of attention.

Sargentii isn't exactly social though, his one good friend is his crab-apple tree- which is more than enough companionship for him.
Indeed, the two- tree and plumerian- had an instant connection from the moment they met, which leads us right into our next story, the story of the apple tree.

The Story of the Apple Tree
Sargent's crab apple trees don't naturally grow in France so how it got here is a mystery. Maybe it was planted by a previous occupant. Maybe some one was making crab apple jelly and a dropped a little seed on the ground. But, Sargentii prefers to think the tree is a mystical dryad.

It was spring when the two first met, a day that was full of fate- as Sargentii would later say to his little tree. But, regardless of fate or the myths, everyone had to agree that it was an exceptionally fine day. The wild birds were singing and the bees were buzzing and the air, the air was golden with sunlight. It was a perfect day for Sargentii to go exploring- he finds listening to Vishyna and Pomme hurts his ears. He decided to, instead of looking through all the medieval age buildings in search for treasure, explore the vibrant countryside. It was the wisest decision he ever made.

The countryside was full of dry, rolling hills and vineyards, that let Sargentii travel back in time to the classical ages when naiads lurked in rivers and travelers had to be wary of pookas and mischievous fairies.

And that was when he first saw his apple tree. It was standing like sentinel on the top of a low hill, framed against the bright blue sky.

It was so perfect, that white-flowering tree and the blue sky and the golden sun, that Sargentii couldn't resist. Breaking into a run, Sargentii sprinted up the hill and wedged himself up in boughs of the tree's flowering limbs. It felt like a perfect fit, and almost as soon as he was comfortably leaning against the cool branches, he fell into a lazy sleep.

Sargentii dreamed of dryads. Their beautiful wooden faces, with clusters of buds and flowers arranged all over their bodies, danced before his eyelids in flashes of light and color. However, one face stood out from the rest. It was a male dryad with a worn, wooden look, yet it was clustered with beautiful white flowers.

When he woke, he remembered his dream in perfect clarity -an usual occurrence for him, whose dreams tended to fade into the obscurity of his subconscious. And that, that was when he knew that he and that crab-apple tree were to become the best of friends.

Of course, that certainly wasn't the end of it for our lovely plumie. After all, he couldn't just ignore the crab apple tree now, could he?

Indeed, he visited his crab apple every afternoon he could. After school, Sargentii could only be be seen as a brown blur speeding to the crab-apple tree. Certainly his parents worried. And, certainly they tried to get him away from that tree. Indeed, their- and Sargentii's- antics are the subject of this next story.

Apple Trees, Plumerians, and Worried Parents
The dirt under his paws crunched as Sargentii walked down the drive way. Squinting in the bright sun, Sargentii gazed ahead at Vishyna who was now swinging around an invisible sword. Sargentii quietly smiled at his brother's antics. Though sometimes he found Vishyna to be like an annoying rubber ducky, he had to admit that Vishyna was the funnier of the two. And the more outgoing, friendlier one of the two.

"Perhaps we were originally supposed to be one person, but do to some accident, we split and Vishyna got the funnier, more social side and I got the quieter one" he thought reflectively.

There was no time to think on this thought further because already, Pomme was holding out two cookies and a tall glass of milk for him- all the while making millions of hilarious faces in an effort to get him to laugh. Sweeping his long, brown bangs out of his eyes, Sargentii accepted the offering and said, "Can I please eat this outside, mom? It's such a beautiful day."

"You know, I'd really you rather not. There are bees and everything outside. How 'bout you stay in here with me and Vishyna? You can me rehearse. Pomme replied."Besides, Rozovyy will be home in a little while with the groceries and you know how he loves to bring home little flowers and stuff for us!"

"No thanks." Saregentii said. "Rehearsals are boring and Vishyna is annoying. Besides, I'll just go out for little bit and I'll be back when Rozovyy gets here with the groceries." And, with that, Sargentii was out the door and headed for the hill leaving no time for Pomme to reply.

It was much later, when the sun was about to set, that Sargentii climbed down from the tree, his thoughts still filled with dreams. Heading toward the house, he heard the voices of Pomme and Rozovyy talking in the backyard.

"Maybe I'm worrying to much, but he still isn't back yet. For the life of me, I don't know why he spends so much time there. Maybe if socialized more like Vishyna...." came Pomme's loud voice.

Rozovyy's reply was much softer-though his voice wasn't exactly soft- and Sargentii had to strain his ears to here it: "Perhaps, we should just let him be. It's probably just phase he's going through and he's sure to grow out of it soon. Besides, I'll see what I can do. I just might be able to get him interested in a sport or hobby of some sort..."

Sargentii's ears drooped slightly. He had never meant to disappoint his parents, and, even when he thought they were the most annoying things ever, he still loved them, right?

"I should stop going to the crab apple tree, if it'll make them happier." But, immediately he pushed the thought away. He loved his apple tree too, but how could he ever explain its allure to his parents?

With his tail down and his mind occupied, Sargentii entered the house- careful to make as little noise as possible.
