▬▬▬▬▼...▼...▼...▼...▼▬▬▬▬ Username;; Jayus.Name;; Set Ammon Marais-Tau. More often known as Ammon.First name meaning;; Set is the Egyptian god of Chaos (there are variations in the spelling of this name, Set is the one I've chosen).Middle name meaning;; Ammon is a Libyan deity. This deity has an oasis in the desert, somewhere made famous by Alexander the Great visiting. See here for more information.Gender;; Cis male.Sexuality;; Set identifies as demisexual. He has no preference in gender, and would be open to polyamory.►......►......▼......◄......◄
Personality;; Set is a rather snarky individual, content to sit in the background and make sarcastic comments until he's needed. He's pretty talented in a wide variety of disciplines, but often discredits himself as he aggressively compares himself to just about everybody around him. His strong suit school-wise would be language-related subjects, as he speaks a number of languages so as to have a greater reach over people. Seeing as he has such a wide grasp on languages, he also has a wide grasp on various methods of sweet talking. Letting him talk his way out of trouble is like trying to hold a live bar of soap that's actively trying to escape. He finds it quite easy to twist everything around, and work his way wherever he wants. Hence, the niches he decided to fit into were smuggler and "that one guy who breaks into places well". He's the go-to guy when somebody needs a (cheap and/or untrained) "lawyer" (... he hasn't been to law school) or when something needs to vanish and reappear somewhere else. The only times that he can't reach people are when they've been warned against his tricks, or are naturally unwilling to listen to any reasoning.
Despite the world he was brought up in, Ammon is incredibly physically friendly once he's gotten used to somebody. It could contribute to part of his hypnotism (throwing somebody off guard is a good way to begin something), or it just be how his outgoing personality chooses to manifest. Either way, he had to work hard to reign that in.
Overall, when interacting with people, he's known to be the guy with a bit of a bite--verbal irony and sarcasm are his friends. He's plenty talkative, not really one for silence. When it comes to competitions, he'll push himself but is fine with letting others win--it just fits in his view that he's not as good as the others are. Much like the rest of his family, he's always gleeful, cheerful, bouncy, bubbly--almost every variation of the word is applicable to him. It almost seems morbid as times as it doesn't shift unless absolutely necessary. Even in the least appropriate of situations, he can be found sharing an often rather dark joke with everybody around or with himself if nobody is available.
Despite Ammon's usual bright persona, he does have more deadly personality niches. His smile never leaves, but he takes on more of an unstable grin, the one you might find splashed across the face of somebody in a straight jacket being held in solitary confinement. That's usually when he's run out of options, and is starting to relinquish any control he still has over himself. In times like those, he lashes out, with his safety being the only concern at the moment. It's his way of releasing his desire to try and keep things civilized. Overall, the many complexities of Ammon could be summarized as intelligent, thrifty, exuberant, dark at the flip of a switch, and determined. Negative traits would include his propensity to lie, how quickly he leaps into things, how inappropriate his jokes often are, and definitely the undiagnosed kleptomania.
As a child;; As a child, Set was that silent spark of mischief that flits just out of sight, striking when least expected and always fleeing the scene with a tittering laugh. Contrary to most children, trouble was to be expected when Set was being loud. It was almost as though he was trying to distract from the havoc he had just wreaked. In formal operations, he could usually behave himself, reverting to a silent state of curious watching.
During his childhood, Ammon lost innocence early (what else can be expected from such a family background?). Due to this, his humor was often darker than anybody else's his age, and he had to be home schooled due to the number of complaints from teachers and other adults. He always held quite a large amount of curiosity in his every endeavor, and if something was forbidden it immediately became that much more exciting. Hence, he would often run fake missions, humming a little theme song to himself as he practiced his 'skills' by sneaking up on an unsuspecting sister. When he wasn't off on an adventure either with himself or Sekhmet, he could be found being cuddly and clingy to anything and everything. This ranged from pillows to trees to the cats to his family members to the couch to his food bowl at meal times. Menhit's found him cuddling the leg of the table before, and couldn't help but shake xyr head at that. At least he wasn't off bugging the cats for cuddles...

As a teenager;; This was around the time that Set started going by Ammon. Between his teen and childhood, he didn't really change much. He was still exuberant, still outgoing and happy. While his tendency towards showing all of his affection in physical ways had diminished, it wasn't quite brought into check until later. The teen came to the realization that he, unlike his parent and sister, didn't really have much of a specialty despite wanting something he could say he was an expert in. The teen decided that there was already quite enough fire and explosives in the family (especially what with half of them actually fearing fire), so he veered away from that. Quite numb to any violence, it didn't hold much interest to him outside of his rather morbid and twisted view upon everything. Despite all his 'practice' as a child, nothing in particular held a strong fascination for him. He seemed set on being a jack of all trades like Lindsay, and was actually being actively mentored in the various things she could do. At some point, hypnotism was brought to his attention. And he learned you could do it without hypnosis. Well, that was interesting. He began looking into it more seriously, and started by practicing on the unsuspecting passerby. As it turned out, he was quite proficient at that. And then pickpocketing came up. Turns out, somebody has exceptionally light and sticky fingers, as he began practicing on anybody and everybody just as he practiced hypnotism. He didn't really think that he had much of a career outside of those, and as a 16 year old that was quite disheartening. He was supposed to have his life together--yet here he was, just picking pockets and putting people to sleep. It was around this time that Ammon met his future mentor, Amy, although he disregarded her due to how incredibly out of place she seemed in the darkness of the underworld. Truly, it was his mistake to not acknowledge her viability until later, as she taught him many a valuable lesson.
At any given point during his teenage years, Ammon was still morbidly curious about anything he wasn't allowed to see yet. Seeing as he was older, he now had the means to investigate. This often lead to him following his parents, trying to see what they can do. He followed Menhit at one point, wanting to see one of xyr explosions that they loved so dearly. As such, he was too close to an explosion at one point and is now partially deaf in the ear that was turned towards the explosion. His mother had been distraught to find him at the scene and had scolded him. While this contributed to his decision to not work directly with arson and demolition, it did not manage to instill a great amount of fear in him. Despite the scolding, he's loved sneaking out to prove that he can do it well ever since then.
As an adult;; Ammon is quite an expert at trance-less hypnotism nowadays, and often does it as a prank or to make negotiations go more smoothly for him. It's simple--just surprise the person beforehand, in the bathroom or something, hypnotize them, tell them what they're going to do in the negotiations, and then make them forget the whole thing. And then he's off. If he's not using it for that, he's using it as a 'party trick', or to try and get witnesses to remember more than what they're giving. Now, hypnotism isn't enough to simply get by on in the world he lives in, so he's also got a collection of things he's good at. This includes hand to hand combat, close range assassinations, and basically anything within touching distance of people. He often pickpockets as well, and is most often sent on smuggling missions due to his ability to talk his way out of trouble. Seeing as he's gotten a fair amount of experience with picking pockets and smuggling, those who spend a lot of time around him have learned to constantly check over themselves, as his obsession could almost be considered kleptomania at this rate. He almost uses it to become comfortable around people--just steal their stuff, check it out, and then either return it or keep it until they notice its disappearance. It's his version of an icebreaker.
Around his family, he's more free with his thieving and actually has small collections of each member's possessions. He's learned to stay out of the way until they're no longer focused on a mission. He's also learned to keep his tongue in check when it isn't needed. Otherwise, he tends to talk almost too much, and that wears on anybody's nerves, especially when radio silence is supposed to be held (he's bad at respecting that). He finally learned to respect (most) physical boundaries, to the relief of everybody (especially those shorter than he is). The number of bloody noses he earned before learning this lesson was tallied to about 75 (over a number of years, don't worry). Shout out to Sekhmet for keeping count for him.
►......►......▼......◄......◄
Lindsay Marais;; When it comes to his mother, Ammon is relatively close with her. Their personalities mesh well together, as she can usually get him to be even more optimistic. When around her, he's just as spirited and bubbly as she is (with the added bonus of his continued sarcasm dripping away at the conversation). Since he received a lot of mentoring from her, he knows a fair amount of her tricks and is always trying to nick things off of her or plant things on her.
Ammon teases Lindsay in the manner only he can get away with. He always holds his most relaxed conversations with her, seeing as she's the one he opens up to most easily. That being said, she's also the one he lies to most often, since she's the hardest to lie to. He figures that if he can get away with lying to her, he can lie to anybody, and therefore uses her as practice.
Menhit Tau;; One of the greatest and insurmountable frustrations in Ammon's life is that hypnosis doesn't work well on xem. He's always trying new ways, but it just never works. It's almost like a competition-- "can you resist this? How about this?". As such, the two have a sort of joking dynamic between them. Xe tried to teach him how to manage explosives, but he always took more of an interest in xyr cats, to be completely honest. That was something they could always be enthusiastic about together--the cats.
Sometimes, Ammon tries to get cuddly with Menhit. An odd desire for such a family, but Ammon loves scooping a cat up and cuddling up to Menhit wherever xe are standing or sitting. It doesn't always go over too well, so if xe move away, he'll just go cuddle more cats. Menhit is one of the few immune to his pickpocketing--xe caught him in the act of a huge theft once, and he's never done it since.
Sekhmet Marais-Tau;; Set and Sekhmet throw each other into and out of many a sticky situation, their combined curiosity enough to kill every last one of Menhit's cats. She's helped numb him to violence, so they can gaze upon the worst of scenes with an equally excited gleam in their gazes. Overall, they work together well, always inspiring the other to go farther. It could be said that without Sekhmet, Ammon probably wouldn't have had any motivation for learning at all. Ammon is the younger of the two, but also the taller, and he tries to counteract any age-based claims with his 'superior' height.
More often than not, Sekhmet's lap will be occupied by Ammon as he playfully sits on her, and they may engage in banter. If neither have had a good day, he'll just sit off to the side (instead of her laps) as they do something to cool down and relax. Sometimes Ammon brings her things he pilfered from somebody's pockets (the way a cat might bring in a dead bird, dropping the carcass at your feet and looking proud), or he adds to his hoard of "stuff I stole from Sek's pockets". Every once in a while, he relocates his hoard so she can't find it and reclaim the contents. When they have to work together, the two have a good dynamic, seeing as both are incredibly proficient communicators.
Furfur;; Ammon is comfortable around Furfur despite the other's blatantly unsettling aura. However, they tend to clash more often than not due to the fact that they both manipulate people like there's no tomorrow. And when two manipulative people mix, either one's going to come out on top or there's going to be a stalemate. As the young kiamara grew up, he was used to being beat by Furfur (much to his annoyance). Nowadays, he's been starting to draw out stalemates for hours or even days on end.
A normal interaction between the two usually begins as a business deal. Hours later, they'll still be coolly pushing each other around, trying to get other to fall into the preset traps. On a bad day, they may push each other to a physical outburst, but on a good day, Ammon falls for one of Furfur's traps first.
Murmur;; To be honest, Ammon's not sure whose idea it was to dump not one, but two of this type of kiamara in the forest. Clearly, that is not an FDA approved way to have children. Seeing as he's already exposed to that type of persona by her brother, she doesn't bother him much, if at all. He tries to shrug Murmur off, figuring it should frustrate her if he can just... ignore her. When not ignoring her, Ammon is often engaging her in much the same way he'll try to try to draw a raise out of Furfure. Seeing as these two are among the most dangerous kiamaras he knows, it's probably a bad idea. Does that deter him? No. Murmur's charms may not work on him, but she can still manipulate him with ease, something he's working hard on trying to avoid. Due to this, he regards her with a bit of distrust, and unease. He doesn't like having so many people who can outsmart him, even if he puts himself down often.
Cry Delphini;; Ammon views Cry as friendly competition. He lies pretty frequently normally, but she brings out the huge liar in him. He often tries to engage in competition with her, joking and telling increasingly taller stories and seeing who can tell the most convincing lie. Seeing as she's known him since he was a kid, he loses more often than not but that doesn't discourage him. Her outgoing personality definitely encourages him to get into it.
Usually, the two engage in heavy banter, before she tries to challenge him to something like a game of cards. Having caught her cheating before, he usually doesn't play. The exceptions are when he manages to catch her off guard and hypnotize her: Ammon will put her to 'sleep', tell her to announce every time she cheats, and then wipe the memory from her mind. It frustrates her, and he always has to put her back under so that she no longer announces her conniving ways to the world.
Free Lilitu;; Ammon heavily bases all or most of his relationships on communication, and as such he isn't quite sure what to make of Free. Yeah, he got the message that she's Kitten, but he's not that impressed. That probably drives a move more of a gap between them, but he doesn't mind that much. While he does have the ability to interpret her body language quite well, he doesn't really care for that type of communication and therefore keeps their interactions to a minimum.
When they do get along, it's usually over text, where he mirrors her tendency to overdose on emojis. He can modify his humor to be close to hers, and they mesh well when they do text (which isn't all that often). The most amusement he can get out of her is when he nicks something from her, and she's mutely trying to convince him to give it back.
Danaë Quinn;; Ammon sort of sees Dan (as he calls her) as a peer, despite the fact that everybody sees her as almost royalty. He just completely disregards it, despite what trouble he might get in for it. Seeing as she likes the easy way out, he figures she won't go too far out of her way to actually put him back in line. Plus, this way, he can learn how she manages to make everything much easier than it would otherwise be. If she does get sassy at him, he'll point out to her that he could just be considered practice for somebody who's hard to bodyguard. That may mean she views him as more as a hindrance or a babysitting job, but he does his best to prove himself and his competency to her. Why? Maybe he's got a squish (a desire for a platonic relationship). She's definitely somebody he admires, and possibly wants a friendship with.
Araceli Rendón;; Now, Araceli is definitely somebody Ammon relates to well. The two start up an endless chatter the minute they're in the same room, going back and forth in rapid fire Spanish as they share the latest gossip with each other. When somebody crossly demands to know what's being spoken about, the duo fall silent for a few moments, sharing a smirking glance with the other before launching back into their conversation. Araceli is one of the few people Ammon respects the boundaries of. He won't hypnotize them without permission, he returns everything he nicks from them, he won't even hug them without permission. Occasionally, he'll talk down rowdier customers for Araceli, seeing as he's got a bit of a soft sport for them.
Vanoan Æthelind;; If anybody can get Ammon riled up and competitive, it's Van. Their cocky attitude gets him just irked enough to compete with them, but not enough to make him drive them away. It's a healthy sort of competition--Van loves this (sometimes rather easy) opportunity to show off, and Ammon appreciates the fact that somebody can drive him to do more than he thought he could. Mostly, Van forces him to develop and go through quite a lot of mental boundary breaking. They've been working out since Ammon was a teen, since that was about when he started becoming able to compete with her. Thankfully, they do get along quite well when they're not competing. The two share jokes well, seeing as both are plenty witty.
Mitch 'Mitchy' Caelix;; Seeing as Ammon sometimes becomes quite disrespectful to Van, Mitch doesn't regard him with the fondest gaze. It doesn't help that Ammon never really felt like he could get a good reading on Mitchy--the other man didn't care to engage in banter, didn't succumb to hypnotism, and always, always noticed when Ammon nicked something from Van. That often lead to Ammon insisting that he was "obviously going to give it back!" while Van looks on in a hint of amusement as their partner forces Ammon to return it more quickly than he had intended. Ammon hasn't had the guts to try it yet, but he figures that if he ever needs an angry Mitchy, the way to achieve that is to either flirt with Van or put Van in harm's way. Since he never plans on trying to manipulate Mitch (seriously, who messes with the guy who could save your life?), he just keeps this information stored to himself. Despite all this, he does sometimes want to get closer to Mitch--the allure of the unknown still haunts him, even as an adult
Lashay Emerald;; Nobody is as heavily targeted for Ammon's kleptomanic tendencies as Lashay is. She almost banned him from her house once--despite her general good nature--as Lyonesse caught him with a rather impressive amount of their possessions at one point. He almost goes on a gleeful spree every time his family is invited for dinner, and it's gotten to the point where they got one of those metal detecting wands seen at the airport. He often makes crude suggestions on where they could possibly stick the wand next (on his body, of course).
Overall, La-la (as he calls her) is often a hint exasperated with the security measures he forces her to. Fortunately, this doesn't damper their relationship outside of that, and she's still willing to fund his escapades when he really needs it. And before you ask, yes, she has landed him in a cast. He plucked a bracelet from her wrist in a rather sloppy manner, and she caught him. His arm was broken and his wrist dislocated, but that seems to have only encouraged his smug attitude for when he does get away with things.
Tadashi Emerald;; Well, the other person looking out for Lashay's belongings happens to be Tadashi. And despite how sweet he is, he does defend those that he loves. The "smol precious cinnamon roll of purity who must be protected at all costs" has landed at least one bullet in Ammon's hand as a warning shot. Yeah, he apologized immediately afterwards, but it forced Ammon to behave at least until his hand recovered. Outside of that, Ammon is usually quite friendly to Tadashi, and maybe even the tiniest hint flirty. He does keep himself under control under the cinnamon roll's sharp eyes. After the first warning shot, it only took one more before Ammon respected it, and the two started bonding. Sometimes Ammon fears his wit could be appalling to the other--how does the sweet child view others? He eventually manages to shrug it off though.
Iskra Sindre;; Ammon would never be caught dead admitting this, but he rather looks up to Iskra. Whenever the older man is bailing him out, Ammon becomes like that four year old kid who bombards the adult with questions. Thank god that Iskra's kind enough to tolerate the twenty-something-year-old telling him "I wanna be like you when I grow up," amongst all the other tumultuous conversation pouring out of the freshly rescued kia. While the threat to make the passenger walk usually comes from the driver, Ammon makes it quite the opposite. He'll ask Iskra how many questions he (Ammon) has to ask before Iskra makes him walk. So far, that number hasn't been hit yet. It'll probably end up with Ammon forcing himself to walk just so he can say "Iskra kicked me out!" when in reality Ammon had been the one to abandon ship against Iskra's recommendations.
Khthonia Incarnadine;; Khthonia... actually sort of scares Ammon. He becomes much quieter than normal around them, and often skirts around to the edges. While he is quite well trained in fighting, he never goes through on when they try to pick a fight with him (if they ever do). While that may end with them trying to physically provoke a fight, Ammon is suffering too trepidation to really fight back. He doesn't even know what it is about them--he's faced plenty a scarier kia, but they just unnerve him like nobody else. As such, he's never even tried any of his usual shenanigans on them.
Thaumé Nycthemeral;; When you're scared of the underworld's ruler, there's no way in hell you're touching their spouse. The only person Ammon is more deferential to than Khthonia is Thaumé. Thaumé doesn't even get targeted by any of Ammon's verbal jabs. Despite how much Ammon seems to kowtow to Thaumé, he does try and treat them like he would treat a normal person otherwise. He doesn't really fear them so much as he fears their spouse, so he finds interactions with them to be mildly easier despite how awkwardly they hold themselves. He has offered to try hypnotism to alleviate some of Thaumé's constant paranoia and anxiety, but as for now both they and their spouse have declined.
Amy;; [My kia] Amy is the one who really opened Ammon's eyes to smuggling. The journalist and children's book writer with a darker secret, Amy is actually a weapons dealer--a well known one, thanks to her father. She inherited the business from him, and the lass often had to infiltrate places under cover, so as to deliver her load without being caught. The fact that she could be fully loaded with an entire arsenal of weapons at any given time and look completely innocent truly intrigued Ammon. At the time Ammon approached her so as to ask to be taught, he was a late teen, and getting sort of desperate to figure out what he was good at. For a fee, Amy took him on. Sometimes he seriously annoyed her--"Shut up Ammon, that's not our cover!"--but usually, a stern glance from the fiery gal was enough to put him back in line. Nowadays, they're a bit more distanced, but Ammon still trusts his former mentor with his life and will occasionally return to her for advice.
►......►......▼......◄......◄
How he behaves when angry;; An angry Ammon is not somebody you want to be in the way of. You can't tell when he's angry at first--it's like having a canary in a mine, and continuing on for a fair amount of time because you didn't realize it stopped singing. Ammon's anger most often manifests as silent but deadly. He has no qualms about quickly dipping into the more criminal side of things should somebody anger him too far. The more important people end up with a broken bone, while the less important will find his knife planted in their rib cage. You're most likely to anger him by harming somebody near to him, or betraying him. He doesn't care enough about what others say to get angry about rumors that may be spread about himself.
How he behaves when excited;; Ammon behaves almost like a puppy when truly excited. He gets all sorts of wriggly, beams the whole time, and is more likely to forget about physical boundaries during this time than he is at any other time. If it's something in the future that he's excited about, he tells everybody about it (unless it has to be kept secret, of course, but even then he leaks it to whoever he can). Mostly, he gets himself incredibly hyped for something not too exciting and then ends up mildly disappointing himself with the actual results. Practically anything could get Ammon excited, should the news of it be heralded in the right way. It's much easier to enjoy this lifestyle when you look forwards to everything, hence how easily he starts eagerly anticipating.
How he behaves when frightened;; Much like when he's angry, silence falls upon Ammon being truly frightened. Seeing the family background, it's something truly traumatic that has to be scaring him. He withdraws from the situation as quickly as possible, and might even just hypnotize everybody around him to escape. His flight or fight often turns to flight in true fear, while if he isn't absolutely petrified he'll go into a fight almost cheerfully. So far, he's only been this scared once in his lifetime. He refuses to talk about it though, and will rub at his shoulder any time it's mentioned.
How he behaves when sleep deprived;; Volume control is a foreign concept to the sleepless Ammon. He's either too loud, or too quiet. If there was an in between, the whole world would be grateful. He's also slightly disoriented the entire time--forgetting words, feeling dizzy. The world has no solidity for a sleep deprived Ammon, as his vision is often one of the first things to stop cooperating with him. He usually only gets to this point when absolutely required for missions. There, he's able to maintain a degree of normalcy due to the almost constant trickle of adrenaline that missions give him. As soon as he's finished the mission though, any air of being lucid vanishes.
What if you betrayed him? There is no way Ammon would take betrayal lightly, seeing as he trusts criminals enough to not turn against him. He does know a lot of influential people. So when there is a degree of betrayal, Ammon is usually livid over the incident. He usually seeks retribution in some way, shape, or form, seeing as betrayal down here usually entails deadly consequences. It doesn't even have to be a betrayal with deadly repercussions--Ammon hates betrayal of any sort whether or not he managed to overcome the results of the backstabbing.
What if you picked a fight? Ammon will go into any fight gladly, a slightly deranged smile splayed across his lips as he sizes the opponent up. If he believes he has a chance to at least not die, he'll just go for it, being quite good at hand to hand combat. If he doesn't think his odds are too good, he might cheat by hypnotizing his opponent. He'd rather not suffer a debilitating injury, so cheating doesn't phase him in the least in this case. While he may seem quite cavalier about the prospect of possibly losing the fight and suffering a grievous wound, he actually does retain at least some sense of self preservation. He can't exactly run missions if he's holed up in his room nursing a broken leg now, can he?
What if you picked his pocket? First off, he'd be impressed. If somebody can pick his pocket without him noticing, he's going to respect that. But then he'd probably demand the item back, or pilfer the other's pockets in return, grabbing something equal in value to (or more expensive than) what was grabbed from him. If he was refused the return and wasn't able to snatch anything from the offender, he'd probably escalate it quickly, putting on a dramatic act or starting a fight with the culprit. While he has no qualms about nicking somebody's living right out of their pants pockets, he prefers to keep his personal items to himself, thank you very much.
What if you arrested him? Any and all incriminating evidence would be quickly offloaded onto the nearest unsuspecting officer. Ammon would then begin to talk his way out of it, until his bond is posted. At the time he's released, he'll collect his items and make more than whatever the bond was to begin with. Thankfully, he's quite good at proving his own 'innocence' and only getting a light bond. Should he be arrested in an aggressive manner, he'll be more likely to fight back and just run, avoiding arrest. As long as he doesn't end up in the public records, he considers it a 'successful arrest avoidance'. He has an odd attitude towards being arrested, as he doesn't view it as anything serious. That could change in the future, if somebody ever manages to seriously incriminate him.
►......►......▼......◄......◄
Physical flaws;; Ammon has limited range of movement in his left shoulder due to a gunshot wound having been sustained there. While he did participate in extensive physical therapy, a psychosomatic side effect prevents him from regaining the entirety of movement. It only seems to vanish in high adrenaline situations, which he has yet to notice. Until such time as somebody points it out to him, he will continue living his daily life believing that his shoulder is limited.
Mental flaws;; Despite his rather extravagant grasp of languages, Ammon could never grasp higher math beyond what he needs for his job. Being somebody who suffers from numerical dyslexia, he struggles in day to day mathematics. This, much like his shoulder issue, diminishes greatly under stress or times of need.
Physical strengths;; Despite not getting his education at a conventional highschool, Ammon still participated in track at other schools. As such, he's quite good at running, if nothing else. He enjoys the burning of his lungs, somehow, and can sometimes be found running across the rooftops after Free if they've been texting recently.
Mental strengths;; The most evident of these is Ammon's mastery of languages in general. However, he also has a good memory. Instead of remember in images (so, photographic memory) he has an excellent grasp on anything that he remembers in a bit of a story-like file. So if he were to look at a picture, he's less likely to remember it as a picture and more likely to remember a vivid and accurate verbal description of it.
Fears;; None that he would willingly disclose. However, he does happen to have a slight fear of dogs--but only small dogs. They scare him quite a bit, to be honest. He's not sure if it's because of their aggression, or their barking, or what, really.
Nervous ticks;; Ammon has trained himself to hide his negative reactions the best he can. However, his worst tick includes his face twitching almost uncontrollably. Thankfully, it's mostly around his lips, so it looks like he's trying to refrain from smiling. It manifests mostly under extreme stress or when he's physically uncomfortable.
Pet peeves;; Joints being popped are something Ammon absolutely cannot stand to hear from others. While he is perfectly comfortable popping his own joints, hearing it from anybody around him simply makes his skin crawl. If he could stop reacting, he would. Unfortunately, this continues to plague him.
Hobbies;; Ammon has a variety of petty hobbies, all generally occurring behind closed doors so that he can indulge in them without shame. They range from finger knitting, to crocheting, to painting his nails. He often doesn't remove the nail polish from his nails, and only allows that 'hobby' to extend beyond his bedroom. Honestly, it's just a variety of ways to keep himself entertained when he's not on the job.
Taste in food;; There are few foods Ammon values more in this world than sushi, any generic 'Chinese' food, and Mexican food. Shrimp burritos have earned the title "my one true love in life", and he tends to hoard any of these foods and snack on leftovers for as long as possible should they be served at dinner at all.
Taste in music;; Out of all the music there is in this world, Ammon's favorite two genre's are completely opposite ends of the spectrum. On one hand, he loves classical music and movie soundtracks. The dramatic symphony of movie tracks are perfect for when he's acting up or being rather dramatic himself. On the other hand, rave-type music or anything with an incredibly upbeat sound to it is on his list of favorites. He finds it easy to get excited when listening to music like this.

Style & dress;; Ammon usually wears tighter clothes that fit his form, revealing what he does have to brag about. The clothes are often made of stretchier materials though, so as not to impede his range of motion. This is a good approximation of his taste in clothing.
Grooming;; Ammon keeps his hair flopped over his eyes, as it keeps him from being too easily recognized. Outside of that, he's almost meticulously groomed, well presentable, and good looking. Unless he needs to look entirely disheveled. He's pro at quickly mussing himself up, as if he's just recently been mugged or something alone those lines.
General build;; Overall, Ammon has managed to avoid a 'runner's build'. Instead of being lean and lanky like most runners, he's a bit more top heavy, and has broader shoulders. He's not really heavyset, but he's not incredibly skinny either.
Musculature;; Due to how long he's had Van as a competition buddy, Ammon has a decent amount of muscles. He's defined, but not really like a bodybuilder. It's that lean balance you see in well trained athletes, lithe and poised.
Height;; Ammon measures in at 5'9"-- a mere inch taller than Lindsay, but an inch he's proud of. If nothing else in life, he can at least say he is the tallest out of his immediate family members.
Hair;; Ammon's natural hair is orange, but in human form he often dyes it black to be like his mother's. He does leave orange and white streaks in there though, as he likes how those look. He just doesn't like how it looks when his whole head is orange. He keeps hair swept over his eyes so as to prevent himself from being too recognizable.
Skin;; Ammon's skin is dark. He doesn't have many blemishes, and never got hit too hard with acne while he was maturing. Honestly, if he ever decided to he could probably easily use his looks as a means of getting things done the way he wants.
Scars;; Nobody can escape his childhood without a few scars here and there. Ammon's hands are the most heavily marked, as they're what he explored with as a child. Sticking his hands anywhere he pleased earned him quite a few nicks here and there. After his hands come his knees and shins (he was not the most graceful teenager). He also has one scar across his ribs from a knife injury, and a bullet scar on his shoulder.
Voice;; Ammon trained himself on how he speaks. His tone is measured, calming, reassuring. It's quite conducive to his hypnotism, as having a calming voice will make people more suggestible to his tricks. THe soothing effect of his voice also brings people to trust him more easily.
Posture;; A very proper posture is constantly maintained by Ammon. He figures it's his best bet of making it obvious that he is definitely the tallest of the family. Outside of that, it also adds an air of formality and regality to his bearing and overall aura.
Gait;; Ammon's gait is smooth, controlled. He doesn't trip up all that often. He has no limps or anything like that. If he's scared or getting around a threat, he's got a sideways walk developed that allows him to move quickly without turning his back to the threat. That's a bit of an advantage in the underworld. He has no predispositions towards ankle, knee, or hip injuries, and seeks attention quickly should he become injured. His ability to run is important to him.
Coordination;; Coordination is one of Ammon's strong suits. It adds a certain fluidity to all of his movements when he's able to properly move about without much fear of slipping up. He strengthened his coordination outside of workouts with Ven, and has become quite impressive in the time he's spent working on it.
General health;; Ammon maintains a pretty good level of health. He doesn't get sick all that often, but does get quite ill when he does get sick. His lungs are in good condition, he doesn't vomit often at all, his immune system is quite strong. Sometimes he jokes it's because of his tendency to touch anything and everything as a child.
Senses;; Ammon's sense of touch, sight, taste, and smell are all in pristine condition. He does have slight auditory impairments, from childhood explorations too close to large explosions. In regards to touch, he does have a sort of quirk that prevents him from touching certain textures for too long. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the textures he can't touch, and they do anything from causing him to gag (even if he's touching it with his fingers) to his whole body shuddering as he tries to escape.
Allergies;; No seasonal allergies, but he does have a mild pineapple allergy and a sensitivity to mosquito bites. Anything with too much pineapple in it simply comes back up a few hours later. When he gets a mosquito bite, they're absolutely huge, red, itchy--the usual, except much worse for some reason. He almost seems addicted to mosquito repellent due to this.
A quirk;; When Ammon does wear sweaters or sweatshirts or hoodies, he does have a very particular quirk about them. Said articles of clothing could be absolutely worn, torn, and threadbare, but he'll wear them still on one condition. "The little hard parts on the ends of the drawstrings" need to be in good condition, or he will not wear them. It can be in perfect condition--but if those little hard parts aren't good, then he will point blank refuse to wear them. Nobody even knows where this came from, but it's a very strong quirk.
Other notables;; Ammon has a birthmark in the shape of California on his left knee. He's never been there, but he'd like to someday just so he could maybe make some quick cash off of having a California-shaped birthmark on his knee.

..........▶ Honestly? Sometimes, Ammon really hated his job. Bullets zinged off of the pavement, the buildings around him--at least, none were off of him. Except for the one who had nicked him earlier. The other criminal sect really had it out for him this time, now didn't they. They didn't take well to their people being kicked in the gut, apparently. None of this would have happened if he hadn't been pushed into this particular mission (or, at least if he weren't so easily bribe-able). The whole problem had started about 5 hours ago, when he had walked into the bar. It was like the beginning of a bad joke. "A smuggler walks into a bar, dressed in drag"... It had been necessary to blend into the environment that the client frequented. While Ammon didn't mind the dress, he felt out of place and incredibly auspicious when he wasn't in the bar. Sticking out like a sore thumb is quite the disadvantage when it comes to smuggling, as it makes it more likely that you'll be caught. Unfortunately for the slightly twitchy Ammon, the customer hadn't arrived until two hours after he had. Staggering the arrivals and departures had been planned, but two hours felt almost too long. As soon as he could do so without arousing suspicion, Ammon fled. Maneuvering in the cloud-laden darkness of the night, he had changed in a back alley, giving a sigh of relief as he was finally in clothes that he normally wore. And then, off he went, the package securely slipped into his clothing, hidden from the dangers of the outside world.
..........▶ Now, the first obstacle was to be found when a cop decided they didn't like the way he looked. He couldn't avoid them without looking shady, so he had openly turned to them, grinning and spreading his arms. "Hey," had been the greeting he chose. Wrong greeting, apparently. He had tried playing dumb, had deepened his voice and smoothed out his words, had tried saying he was looking for somebody, had tried pulling the "do you know who I am" card--anything to try and get free quickly. None of this worked, unfortunately. Before he knew it, one cop was pulling him aside so that he could be searched. When their partner went to go call it in, Ammon took advantage of the situation. This could easily be avoided with a wee bit of hypnosis. [The transcript of the actual hypnosis has been redacted for safety reasons, meaning simply that Ammon wants to be dramatic and secretive]. "I'm invisible," he whispered to the officer slumped forwards onto his shoulder. "When you wake up, you can't see me. On three, you're going to wake up. One, two, three." Thankfully, that particular officer couldn't see him at all now. The hypnosis had worked, which was convenient for Ammon. He took off, sprinting down the street despite the other officer yelling at him. Seeing as the first officer couldn't see him, it would be difficult for them to mobilize and pursue him. Thank god for that. A few minutes later, footsteps echoed off of the walls of the darkened alleys. Ammon had slowed to a walk, feeling safe now. The slight drizzle now descending from that dark, heavy sky would drive people off the streets-- which could either help or hinder. With nobody around, there were no eyewitnesses. No crowds to blend into either, for that matter. The young male continued walking, trying to keep a brisk, yet auspicious pace. All was well.
..........▶ Maybe that had been a bit early to decide that. Clearly, all was not well. Ammon gazed up into the face of the leader of an opposing criminal sect, trying to look as oblivious as possible as words honeyed with persuasive techniques poured out of his mouth. For some reason, nothing was working tonight. Nobody was susceptible to any of his sweet talking, everybody seemed to have it out for him, and Ammon was about ready to just blame it on the rain. He eventually started growing a bit frustrated with the situation as the other men started trying to physically intimidate him, bouncing him around from man to man. Sure enough, his face started the telltale twitching that indicated his stress that was otherwise hidden. Eventually, he saw no other option available. The man exploded, lashing out at the surrounding men with calculated moves. He wasn't aiming to maim or kill, just... distract. Ammon's limbs could be found expertly planting blows in abdomens, on throats, against shins--anywhere that could be considered a shock move. There were a few who escaped him, but he didn't need to go after them. Light on his feet, he took off, running as fast as he could. Shots were fired, one of them nicking his leg. Bullets zinged off of the pavement, the buildings around him--at least, none were off of him. The other criminal sect really had it out for him this time, now didn't they.
..........▶ Before long, the young smuggler was soon face to face with the one whom the package was for. The dark room (so dramatic, Ammon thought) let the customer slink about in the shadows, being dramatic as people like this were wont to do. Somehow, there was still a smirk playing across the dashing smuggler's lips, an exercise induced flush in his cheeks. But now he could relax. "So. Pay up," he purred, just wanting his money. "And don't forget a tip, that's rude to the runner." The customer glanced up at him, clearly displeased by the joke. "You're not getting paid." Of course, Ammon's reaction was visible. His eyes immediately narrowed, the smirk becoming more of a dangerous smile. "I don't think you understand. If I don't get paid, I repossess the item, and take the money." That prompted the customer to start laughing. Ammon's eyes only narrowed further as the customer doubled over. "You know--you know there's nothing in this envelope? That was just a test run, a joke to see how you'd manage. I set up everybody in your path. Just for fun. Now, I don't think you understand. Get. Out. You'll get half the money" A few minutes later, a furious and struggling Ammon was removed from the building by no less than ten individual security guards. Unceremoniously deposited on the streets, Ammon was left to walk himself home, the smile eventually slipping back over his face as he went over everything he had stolen during the 'fight'. Nice.
