Do you see anything on his scales?
Any white spots, or flaking?
Does he look normal overall?
He could be sick, for one. If he doesn't show any physical signs, what is your water temperature at? Bettas can become less active during colder months. Maybe test the water temperature. When was the last time you changed his tank around? He might be bored with his scenery now, and changing it up a bit could perk him up.
The temp is 78 degrees, I don't see anything like that. Except his tail is torn up, I don't know how he did it, this is really recently that he did it, I hadn't noticed it before. I cleaned the tank three days ago, and it is still great of course. I put a new hideaway in there two months ago, thats what he is always in. It could just be the colder months, but I don't know. Its so strange.

Are you sure it's torn? It could be fin rot. My poor Luna got it a while back. If it is fin rot, then treat the water with salts and keep the tank lights off. (You should also get professional advice)
Here's a picture off of images of a betta fish with fin rot:

In recent water changes have you changed ALL of the water? your fish might be reacting to the sudden change. Or it could be due to a sudden spike in ammonia.
<: Hopefully this helped.

I did a half water change not too long ago, and then three days ago I did a full water change. I use ammonia remover, and the level of ammonia seems normal.
I really dont know what it is. I have a plastic plant in there that has rough edges, I saw him hanging around it, and now he hasn't been recently, but I did put in a new thing not too long ago.

Plastic plants are a big no for bettas as they can tear the fins on them which might be what he has done.
You want to change the plastic for silk plants so as he doesn't damage his fins.

Thats what I thought, it was actually attached to his hideaway, I will cut it off and put in a real plant.
Thanks!

Birman Kitty wrote:I got rid of the plastic plant, and he has been hanging around there again. Now I have another question, do bettas actually like these leaf hammock things?

I'd just go for a larger silk plant instead of the hammock. It will give him some privacy and things to swim in, but he'll still have plenty of leaves to rest on.
