Well, thats up to you Cassie. Either you can watch Ferondir's test, or you could explore Castle Town? Hey- speaking of- didn't you dock a ship here on arrival? You could take a peek at that and then meet me back here afterwards? I know a great restaurant near here! Zeph said to Cassie, enthusiastically.
...
What do now? Ravoo asked, seemingly bored already.
Well... I should really stay and watch the test- but it should take a while before it starts.
Maybe we could...? Zeph thought for a moment, when he remembered what he had traveled to Castle Town for a few weeks ago.
I know exactly what to do! Zeph said eagerly as he turned and roamed down an adjacent corridor, Ravoo in tail.
...
Two tickets, please. He said, as the Ticketmaster snapped off two stubs.
Enjoy the show! The boy at the counter said, sounding more as if he was reciting a script than anything else.
Yeah, Zeph added, grabbing the ticket stubs.
Here, you'll probably want this. He said, handing a stub to Ravoo.
The Guilds amphitheater was an old, round, pit carved into the hole in the ground. It was lined with a gray stone that composed the seats, and flooring, until the slope reached the bottom layer.
The bottom layer was a decorated sand pit with an artificial pond.
...An artificial beach? Zeph noted, as he looked down into the amphitheater's stage.
Well- this certainly seems promising. Where do you want to sit? Zeph asked Ravoo, as he looked around for a seat.
Preferably somewhere that in the mid- He started, until he turned and saw Ravoo, sitting in the very front- easily filling the space of 2 people, with his arms full of at least 6 bags of popcorn.
-or that.
...
Welcome to tonight's production of 70 Hues of Jack and Jill. The man at center stage bellowed, as an announcement.
Hm, sound intriguing. Zeph noted, as Ravoo dumped his 4th bag of popcorn in his mouth.
Please silence your Familiars, and remember- oil painting during the production is unlawful and you will be detained. Thank you, and enjoy the show! The announcer said cheerily, as he walked off stage.
Several iridescent orbs materialized in the sky, illuminating the sand pit, as several people trotted on stage wrapped in boas.
Jack and Jill went up a hill, so Jack could-
...
Several minutes later of laughing, cringing, and everything in between(Including Ravoo throwing fish at the actors)- Ravoo stomped his feet, as he turned to Zeph.
More popped corn! Wheat good! Butter! lots of butter! Pop Pop! poooop! pop! poppopopop Wapapapapapapow! POP WHEAT. Whee-at pop! He said expectantly, causing several people to look his way.
Zeph laughed slightly before agreeing.
Sure. Yeah! Maybe I'll actually grab myself a bag this time Be right back. He whispered, before marching up the steps and out of the Amphitheater.
The last excerpt he heard being -And soon Jack found that Jill's real name was Randy-.
...
Zeph sheltered his hands in his pockets as the crisp summer air blew against his skin, the auburn sunlight casting dancing shadows upon the rough guild pathway.
Hm. The library is still named after him. He observed, not really surprised.
...
Minutes later, he found himself back in the arena. Specifically, the area where future Apprentices sat and observed the test.
Surely Ravoo won't miss me if I stay here and watch for a bit. He probably figured out that the couple next to him had popcorn too.
Zeph's eyes gradually made skimmed over the Apprentices, seeing if there was anyone he recognized.
Surprisingly, he knew over half them.
One in particular stood though- that odd-one out being Shia.
Oh, and look, there happened to be an open seat adjacent to her.
Boo! He said, as he popped up in the chair next to her.
Hm. Better view from up here, I like it. It was surprisingly easy to get up here, even though I shouldn't be. He realized.
Conversation continues and I will just post about it from the past. Consider the next comment as an "Afterwards.
Hey, I've um... I'm gonna go check something. Be right back. Zeph said, flashing a distractingly charming smile towards Shia.
He rushed down the stairs, off of the Apprentices stand.
He's taking way to long on the Runes. That other guy's almost caught up to him. I've got to- He thought, look for the right door.
Ah! There it is! Zeph said, briskly making his way to the door, helpfully labelled "Do Not Enter: Authorized Personnel Only".
Excuse me. You can't go down there. A burly security guard grumbled, blocking his way.
Come on, I have to get down there...think- Zeph thought, looking down to the ground, twisting his ring on his finger.
His ring- My ring!
Oh, I can't? He said, holding up his hand to show the security guard the ring.
The guards eyes widened slightly, obviously recognizing the emblem.
Uh- My apologies! Go right ahead. He said, opening the door.
Zeph smirked as he walked through the threshold.
I can't believe that worked. He muttered, looking down at his family ring.
....
Why did I do that? No. No. It's fine. He didn't notice, I know he didn't. Zeph said, nervously brushing his hand through his hair.
Though he was right, Ferondir didn't notice.
If he finds out he'll- ugh. Why did I do that. He had it, he was cutting in close but he couldn't of done it. Ohmygo- I should NOT have- He recalled the last Zeph had done something like this to help Ferondir.
-No. Stop, don't think like that. Ferondir didn't deserve to lose- not as hard as he had been working. I did the right thing. He said, assuring himself.
He breathed deeply, attempting to collect his thoughts.
It's fine. It'll be fine. Worry about it later.
Zeph traversed through the underground corridors, examining various different systems until he reached the stairs and made his way out, back onto the main level.
...
Hey, what'd I miss? Zeph asked, smiling calmly as he returned to his seat next to Shia.
