Cataquin's Number;; #1, Special Stars
Cataquin's Gender;; Female
~~~
Characters in Entry;; Nygria, Amica ([ah-mah-ca], comes from Latin "amicus" meaning kind, loving, generous. Nygria's older sister.)
Entry Story Summary;; Nygria's parents died when she was a bun-bun, leaving her starless. Her sister Amica gave up her light for Nygria, the ultimate sacrifice. Nygria is not aware of this fact and believes that both of them still possess a star. My entry is written from Amica's perspective. It's the story of how and why she gave up her star. In this story I used Cataquin 2 from Meteor Showers as Amica's reference to describe her. If possible, I'd like to adopt her too. The entry is a short story, which I think is what was required, but if not let me know. I hope you like my entry!
Entry;;
Amica sat on the rocky ledge outside their home, her long ember-coloured tail wrapped around her black hooves. It was a crisp morning, as most were here. She had been up for hours, anxious about her sister's fate. Just hours ago, their parents had died, killed by a disease spreading rapidly through the Cataquins. The same one that had killed Yorumo's parents, she remembered. Amica knew she had to do something to save Nygria, but what? Nygria was starless now, and if a Cataquin's soul ever deserved to return to heaven it was Nygria's. Amica looked down at her own star. A possible plan, but a drastic one. If Amica gave up her star, she could never get another, never return to heaven with her sister.
Nygria still slept soundly within the cave, unaware of her sister's worry. Amica's gaze rested on her sister, debating. It was such a big choice, but one her parents would have wanted.
Several hours later, Amica pulled her star out. A wave of numbness washed over her, passing quickly. The star burst out of Amica's hooves, stopping to hover a few feet away. She watched in awe as it exploded in a shower of sparks, only to reappear. But this time, the star was no longer yellow. It was...black? She recalled the old legend that if one gave up their light, the star turned black to represent the massive sacrifice they had made for another. "At least she'll know how much I care about her," whispered Amica, affixing the star to Nygria.
