Story:
The girl gazed out from her blanket. The creature was always there, in her closet as stereotypical it was. She was only around 7-8, and was completely terrified. Each night, she felt as if she was watched. Every single night, she'd feel a cold, piercing gaze upon her; sometimes she'd peek out and see the crimson orbs from the closet, shining ever so brightly. How was it that her parents couldn't see it? It was out there mostly in plain view! She felt sweat upon her, but didn't react. Fear paralyzed the girl.
"Mommy said I'm safe under the blanket," she whispered attempting to reassure herself.
It didn't work. Not in the slightest. She felt even more in danger, yet somehow was starting to feel tired. She felt tired and yet, fear dawned over her like the sun over the ground on a hot day. She bundled up in the comforter quietly, not wanting to move around or make any sound.
The...er-creature would obviously notice. What she didn't know was that it fed off her fear. Once she got paranoid, it'd never stop. It'd follow her around, just like everyone else. That's why people couldn't sleep at night, they had once let their guard down and the creature had taken its chance. She gulped. Her doe brown eyes gazed about frantically, trying to pinpoint the sudden loud sound. There, on the edge of her bed it sat. It was pitch black, darker than the darkest shade of midnight upon a black cat. Its eyes were a hellish void, seemingly going on and on for eternity. Yet, somehow they glowed with the ferocity of a wild creature, much more wild than that of a regular canine. It looked somewhat wolffish, but it was overall a confusing creature. As she studied the creature, it suddenly decided to speak.
"Hello, friend," came a hoarse and deep whisper. It sounded as if other voices were intertwined with it, making it all the more frightening, yet alluring. It scared her, and yet, its voice captivated her.
"W-what do you want? Who are you?!" she frantically asked, somehow managing to speak. Here she was, little seven year old Katie, staring right into the pits of Hell almost. She noticed it was missing a lower jaw, and was out stretching its front arm or something of the sort, hand in a position that you'd shake hand in.
"Little old Erebus? He's finally glad to know you asked. Erebus wants new friend. Erebus needs to prey on food too. Little girl makes both," it attempted to grin. Its voice was still the normal way it spoke, but held an air of joy about it.
"Well, I don't want to be eaten!" She proclaimed. "And I don't want to be your friend either!" She grumpily and timidly said.
"Shame, shame," the beast "grinned" once more. "Erebus needs food now, you make good substitute for now," it said rather happily and its eyes glowed. The last thing heard from the girl was a high pitched shriek, and with that she disappeared. When her parents barged in, the window was open and the curtains swayed with the wind. The girl? Nowhere to be found or seen to this day.
