After resolving the issues with the breathing apparatus, we headed in the opposite direction. And we couldn't have made a better decision!

We located some bland and dry soil with sparse grassing on it, surrounding a grove of vegetation. There are tall tree-like growths coming up from deep within the ground with interwoven branches that connect to the other trees around them. I would like to know the benefit of such a thing, but that's not what we came for. There also appears to be either large nuts or fruit growing along the woven branches, some of which are fallen and scattered about the ground.

What we did come for lay in the undergrowth and the small expanse of water amidst it all. Small creatures marbled with colours that reminisce of poisonous amphibians, they leap quite quickly and avoid us implicitly. Based on the colour contrast alone, our team decided it was best not to try to capture a sample at this point and instead make an extensive observation. Mal is far more concerned about testing the water composition, and whilst it would be nice to know how useful that could be, I am still much more impatient to venture and find more wildlife.
