Buttermilk Adopts
Saving the world one bovine at a time!
Welcome to the mystical land of cows! Stay a while, take off your shoes and feel the soft grass beneath your toes. Cuddle up with a couple bovine and make yourself at home.. If you're lucky, one just might come home with you! Buttermilk Cows are tradable for other Buttermilk Cows, sellable, and also are giftable! There is no limit to how many you can own so feel free to fill your heart entirely of adorable Cattle and nothing else!

Rules for Adopting & Owning
•Collars on a Buttermilk shows that the Buttermilk has been adopted and already has an owner, Buttermilks without a collar are up for adoption
•Be sure the Buttermilk you are entering for hasn't already ended, pay attention to end dates as anything past them will be void
•You may sell your Buttermilk for milk bottles, gift to other users, or trade your Buttermilk for another Buttermilk, although you must contact the proper Archivist about any changes in ownership and both previous and new owner must contact me to notify of the exchange
•Any deals with Buttermilks that are exchanged without my notice will be voided
•Buttermilks may not be sold for real money, or any currency outside of this adopt
•Once a Buttermilk is given to a new owner, the previous owner may not try to reclaim the Buttermilk without the new owner agreeing to a new trade or decide to gift the Buttermilk back
•Do not bully others into giving the Buttermilk back to you
•You may not breed your Buttermilk, it must be done through the adopt with another Buttermilk
•The amount of Buttermilk's you can own is currently limitless
•Heifers are female and have udders
•Bulls are male and do not
•Respect all staff members and community members
•Do not pester or guilt trip the artists for customs or breedings
•Do not complain or whine about not winning
•You may not alter your Buttermilk's design
•You may not steal another owners Buttermilk or its design
•You may not make your own Buttermilk, its a closed species
But yes, you obviously can make your own cow OC, just don't call it a Buttermilk!

Rules for all Artists
•Try not to add a collar to Buttermilk, unless it is adopted or bred
•You may add extensions to adoptions if you so choose, but you do not have to
•Edits to the Buttermilks such as hair, horns, eyes, and the like are now considered a mutation
•Some mutations are rarer than others, see the information thread to clarify
•All mutations have a low rate of passing, although you may choose the percent chance and how much of it may pass, but please do keep everything under 20% at the very least and correspond the percent chance with the rarity of mutation
•There is no limit to how realistic or non-realistic the designs can be as they have no genes, but the colours must be natural
•Each adopt has a chance to be carrying an item from our store or a milk bottle, of which you can decide what it is and how much there is, though it should not be seen with the actual adopt and to be written in the description
•Do not say what the item is or how many milk bottles there are until a winner for the adopt has been chosen
•Do not give an item or some milk bottle milks to fcfs and raffle adopts
•Item/milk bottles that an adopt carries should not be a common thing, and please consider the rarity of item that the adopt carries as rare items should be hardly ever seen
•There won't be any sort of runner-up's adopt so that we can keep each design unique, but items/milk bottles may be given out to those you'd usually give a runner-up to instead
•If you plan to go away for a long period of time for whatever reason and you are not a ghost artist, please notify me or another moderator
•If an artist wishes to become a ghost artist, it can be done just contact me to make the change
•Do not copy other artist's designs
•Be kind with one another

in order for everyone here to focus on the jobs we take on, we need different archivists who are willing to document cows and their owners. in order to make each archivists job easier, we have three archives: the main adopts archive, the custom/events archive, and the nursery archives.
the archivist is required to update their archive at least once a week so that they do not fall behind in archiving.

your job will include:
- setting up an archive (nursery archive is already complete)
- maintaining archive records for buttermilks and their owners
- updating archives and receiving messages for ownership transfers

here is an example of how you can set up your archive: current nursery archive

you will not be required to interact with the community or staff often, but you may have to contact members for things such as names or ownership transfers
you will not be required to archive in a specific place; you may use whatever you feel comfortable (cs, google docs, etc)
you are recommended to join the discord to communicate with all staff easily, but it is not a requirement

being an archivist is like any other staff, so archivists will receive staff perks once the new archive is complete. as the nursery archives are done, the nursery archivist will be able to claim their staff perks by the end of the month.

in level of activity, the busiest archive will be the main adopts
the one after that is the nursery, which isn't that busy; you are not required to archive slots
the least busiest is the custom/event archive, which will be mostly inactive but will have large periods of activity (during events)

archiving is a time consuming job. do not apply if you do not have the time! just because the archives are split to make it easier does not mean the job is not time consuming. only apply if you agree to this!
