Story: I waded into the water, tossing my net out in front of me, from one side of the river to the other. I waited for 10 minutes before grabbing all of the part I was holding in one hand and grabbing the other in my other hand so nothing would spill out. I eagerly looked into the net to see if I caught anything.

Story: I wade out into the river, my rubber boots doing nothing to prevent my feet from getting soaking wet. I pull the net along behind me, not caring to look where it was going. Suddenly, I feel something, and turn around. Is my net caught on a rock, or did I actually catch something for once? There are plenty of pebbles and plantlife hidden at the bottom of the river, but there are fish, too... Eagerly, I pull the net up, and check its contents.
