Character information

Name:

Danielle
Her name comes from Hebrew and French and means 'God is my judge".
I chose this name because although other dogs may view her as dangerous she knows she has done nothing wrong and only God can judge her.

Gender: Female

Birthday: October 23rd

Age: 21

Religion: Christian

Special Items:

Danielle's bandana's meant the world to her and she liked to wear them everywhere she went, one around her head and the other hanging from her neck.

Personality:

Danielle likes to work with others to achieve peace and harmony. She's kindhearted and has a gentle spirit towards everyone. Although she had a bad past, she doesn't dwell on it and lives every day with color. Her happiness is almost never-ending and she likes to reach out to lost souls or animals that just need a friend to lean on. Danielle can never get enough of Spring time.

Why I Would Like Them & Use:

I really love these two characters and I think they fit together nicely! Danielle is one of the cutest art pieces I have seen on CS so far! I love that she only has three legs yet the art still portrays her with energy and the lack of her ear shows she's been through life and come out successful. Her eyes are filled with a sense of wonder and hope to get her through the rough nights and I admire that. Not only that but the stunning orange makes me want her even more; orange is by far my favorite color. I think James goes well with her and I'm interested in getting/creating a piece of art with the both of them in it to put on my trade thread and/or settings; but one of them is a definite, possibly both. Although in James' artwork he is portrayed as a puppy I think that with a revamp or two he can be seen as a handsome male with a kind demeanor, perfect to join Danielle. I would like the two to be portrayed as friends yet lovers and I will make good use of them and cherish them very much!

Danielle and James' History:

This is the story of Danielle and James. Danielle and James were a rather curious two who didn't start their lives together, they started their lives separately but ended up together and this will explain...

Life Before James

"Mom!" "Stop pushing!" "Byren!" Danielle and her six siblings yelped out to each other in the heat of the day hidden away from the sun in the shade of a bush in someone's front yard. This went on for some days after the pups opened their eyes for the first time until they began exploring. That was a new and glorious time for Danielle's siblings but not for her. "Why don't you want to go exploring with your brothers and sister?" Danielle's mother asked tenderly. "I just don't want to, I wanna stay here with you momma." Danielle replied scared her mother would make her go. "Alright but one day you'll want to leave, and it'll be okay Danielle." "Yes momma, but today is not that day", Danielle fumbled over her thoughts and laid down next to her mother. Her father had never existed in her life and she didn't mind, Danielle loved her momma. A few months went by and still Danielle would not explore with her siblings. Carsich, Danielle's favorite little brother begged her to join him on their trip to the woods for the first time. Danielle distastefully agreed to go on one condition, everyone comes home. Carsich of course agreed and the whole band of pups set off! At the edge of the woods all of the pups were thrilled and darted in except for Danielle who stood wary on the outskirts of the trees. "Come on Danielle, you promised!" Carsich begged. "Fine!" Danielle grumbled more frightened than angry. As they journeyed into the woods there wasn't much to be seen but tall pine trees and thorns hung above and around their heads and tiny bodies. As the pups picked up their pace Danielle began to as well and soon they were all racing through the woods yipping and howling with delight. "This is fun!" Danielle said between breaths, seeing as she was more out of shape than the others. "We told you it would be!" Danielle's sister said in a clear voice as if the exercise did not affect her speech at all. After a long day of racing through the woods and finding their way home all the pups were tired and immediately fell asleep once home in the shelter of their bush. Danielle too passed out at the feet of her mother until awoken by a howl of fear. Danielle and her siblings shot to their feet prepared to run for their lives at the sound of their mothers fearful howl. "What's goin on momma?!", Danielle whispered, barely audible to the human ear but enough for her mother to hear. "Where is Carsich, did he not return with y'all?!" Her mother cried. "I don't know momma, I was so tired", Danielle said beginning to cry. That was the day Carsich disappeared and Danielle still hasn't heard of him to this day.

A few months passed after Carsich's disappearance and life had returned to normal, yet on this day everything in Danielle's life changed. The day started as any other winter day, cold and wet, with snow piled high on the ground. Danielle disliked the cold and preferred to stay in the warmth of the bush along with her biggest and oldest brother, Byren. They became very close since the first snowfall preferring the comfort of each other over the joy of exploring. On this day there was no exploring because a blizzard was nearing and momma knew better than to send her babies out in the snow with dangerous weather on the way. As the pups were sleeping the cold away, a dark figure approached the bush and their mother went out to greet it, the hair on her back spiking up in fear. Danielle couldn't pick out the words spoken but could sense the harsh tones between the two, then suddenly came the attack. The dark figure jumped on her mother and a yelp escaped Danielle's lips. Her mother thrusted the figure away in an attempt to protect her children but the figure was much stronger and had injured Danielle's mother already. The figured slammed through the bush and picked up one of Danielle's brothers by the back and slung him out across the snow. As the pups attempted to scramble to their feet the figure would put its paws on them laughing at their fear. Danielle was no exception to the strangers cold glare. It was a tall male wolf with black fur and cold almost dead green eyes. He roared with fury and began murdering Danielle's siblings in no particular order. The gruesomeness of the scene caused Danielle to cry and howl just as the rest of her remaining siblings did. As the strange wolf attacked her little sister Danielle attempted to run only to be immediately picked up by her ears. As she cried out in horror she noticed Byren had gotten away and was sprinting towards the forest so she began to claw at the wolf but to no avail. Her clawing did not hide Byren to the wolf but the wolf didn't care to chase after him. After the slaughter, the strain on her ears caused them to tear and the wolf stared at her for only a brief moment before hurrying on his way. After Danielle got over the shock and cleaned enough blood from her face to see, the sun had already set and she stumbled through the snow towards her mother. Her mothers body was as cold as the world around her and unmoving. Danielle did not know what to do and so she cuddled up with her mother in a desperate attempt to stay warm.

As the next dawn arrived Danielle's instincts suddenly kicked in and she knew she needed food yet she didn't know how to get any. Instead she turned away from the woods and headed down the street of this small neighborhood-like town. She found it extremely difficult to trudge through the snow until suddenly she fell on cold asphalt that smelled of gasoline which her mother told her came from cars. All of the time spent with her mother had made Danielle very intelligent. She decided this path would be easier and it proved to be much quicker as well. She was well on her way down the block when a noise that had been in the back of her thoughts got louder and louder until she couldn't handle it anymore and she turned around. As she turned around the car hit her sending her flying into a ditch filled with cold snow. She did nothing at first but lay there until she knew she was going to die if she didn't move so she tried to stand up. As she attempted to stand she realized she couldn't even move one of her back legs. After looking at it she realized her bone was sticking out at the knee and she howled out in agony and laid back down in the snow. As she stared into the snow falling down, her world went black. Waking up Danielle found herself in a warm room wrapped in a blanket. She was afraid but could not move her legs so instead she prayed. Her mother had always spoke of a God and truly believed in Him. So Danielle trusted in the Lord and prayed for her salvation. She eventually fell back asleep and awoke in a smaller room which she suspected was a kennel. She had no towel on so her first thoughts were to stand up. She went to move her back right leg but to no avail did it push her up. Looking at it suddenly she stared in fright. It was gone! "No!", she yelped. The sound of her own voice frightened her and she decided to enjoy the silence rather than speak. Her panicked yelping was silenced by a slamming door nearby. Danielle was taken from her cage, through a few hallways and into a large open room filled with humans. She had never feared humans simply because the old ones that they lived by had always fed them so she did not fear them. She was handed to a tiny human boy and stared at him rather confused. His joy and unsteady composure surprised her yet she made no sound. She supposed this was when she was supposed to lick his face like her mother always licked the old humans' hands. That day she went home with the little boy and entered a small comfy little home that seemed to be filled with happiness. There were a few troubles she encountered her first few weeks. For instance, the food, she despised it, little drops of brown nothingness. She refused to eat it and soon they fed her meat, random portions of leftovers but she enjoyed it much more than the pebbles considered food. This house was cozy and sweet for the first few days until the yelling began. The older humans constantly bickered at each other and the boy would come into his room crying most days. Danielle would console him with kisses and proceed to cuddle with the little boy. One day the yelling took a turn and something sounding like glass shattered against the outside of the little boys' room. The father roared into the bedroom reminding Danielle of the strange wolf that murdered her family and she began to howl in fear and as the man went for the boy she attacked him and bit his hand. The man forcefully took her by the scruff of her neck and threw her out into the cold. Frightened by the slamming of objects near her she attempted to sprint away through the snow but could only hobble and then crawl seeing as her legs were very weak. She barely made it to the end of the driveway when something picked her up by the scruff of her neck in its teeth. She thought nothing of it as she whimpered herself to sleep.

"Sweetheart are you awake?" "Sweetheart wake up, everyone is dying to meet you." Danielle mumbled something under her breath as she opened her eyes and let them adjust to the dim morning light shining through the roof of what appeared to be an old rickety house. Suddenly she recognized the grey figure as the one who had carried her through the snow the night before. It was a very sweet-looking. old she-wolf with gentle, caring grey eyes. The wolf again peered at Danielle and began to speak, "Good morning! I see you had a rough night so you don't have to speak about it yet if you don't want to, but everyone is absolutely dying to meet you! Would you like to come say hello?" "Who? Who wants to meet me, I have no family left. Who are you?", Danielle fumbled through questions wildly. "Oh my! I should've known you would want an explanation! My name is Darlene and I run this little household, although we aren't really little, only the house is." The she-wolf, Darlene replied. "Who is 'we'?", Danielle asked hurriedly. "My, my, filled with questions aren't we?", Darlene peered around the corner and whispered something to a figure Danielle could not see before turning back towards Danielle. "'We' refers to all the animals who take shelter in this little establishment that we call the Xama, after the first she-wolf to find this little building. It was in a much better shape back then I would guess." Darlene answered nudging Daniele to her three remaining legs. "Follow me sweetheart." She said nudging Danielle along. Danielle struggled to get footing and wobbled against Darlene quite often for support. "You seem to be in a good emotional state seeing as you only have three legs and you're so young!", the she-wolf, Darlene rambled on. Danielle zoned out and peered around the rather dark house and it's rotting wood. They walked down a small hallway and turned into a large open room with a higher ceiling than the rest of the house, filled with chatting animals. Danielle stared in amazement at all the different kinds of wolves. "There are so many wolves!", Danielle said astonished. "Sweetheart, not everyone is a wolf. You're not even a pure wolf, I can see it in your build. I myself am, but most here are dogs.", Darlene's words faded as she led Danielle through the room. "Now for an introduction. Everybody get organized, we have a new member!", Darlene shuffled everyone into a semi-straight line. "Roscli, where is Veed?", Darlene said looking at a huge fluffy dog standing much taller than Darlene. Right as the dog began to speak a reddish-brown wolf flung the doors to the house open and snow blew in on either sides of him as he spoke, "Oh not so fast Darlene, I have a new member as well."

Life Together

Darlene introduced Danielle and they settled among the group awaiting Veed's new member. Veed walked into the room and coaxed a young wolf that was large for his age into the room. Once the wolf entered there was a hush in the room and all eyes stared at this new member. "This is James", the red wolf said dipping his head towards Darlene. Darlene introduced herself to the new wolf and introduced Veed and Danielle to each other. Suddenly Veed began to speak, "I know you are all thinking it, and yes, this wolf is from Blood Clan." Veed eyed James suspiciously and treated him with an odd kindness compared to James' cold shoulder. There was a chilled silence in the dark room until Darlene spoke, "Alright everyone don't be shy, introduce yourselves!" Danielle was surrounded by dogs and wolves trying to meet her while James got an occasional older wolf or dog with a warning towards him. Danielle could not make out the different names and voices or who they belonged to and she began to whimper.

"Alright everyone, give her some space, she may not be used to tight spaces.", a female dog said beside her. The dog was bigger than Danielle only because she was full grown and her fur was cream colored with occasional brownish speckles. Her eyes were the bluest blue, much like what Danielle believed the ocean looked like. Danielle immediately asked her name. "I'm Creita, I've been here for a few months now.", she said. The dog seemed to be muddling through something in her mind and finally spoke, "I can show you around if you want?". "Yeah!", Danielle answered excitingly. As Danielle began to follow Creita up a flight of rickety stairs she stole a look at the new wolf. He was very handsome with a jaw line of steel and deep, rich brown eyes. Danielle was surprised at her kind thoughts towards him and turned to follow Creita up the stairs.

James stood with his broad shoulders eyeing all the males in the room, almost daring them to fight him. An older wolf approached him with a glare in his eyes and said, "Quit what you're doing with your shoulders boy, don't be so brash and stupid in your thoughts." After a short pause the wolf continued, "Why did you come here anyways, you're young and full of life. I joined the Xama House after Blood Clan abandoned me for my age, and lack of abilities." James looked into the old wolf's eyes with anger and no sense of pity. "Why does it matter?!", James snarled, storming to another corner of the room. As he headed across the room he stepped on a tiny dogs tail and the dog yelped and stared at him in shock. James didn't even look at the now hurt dog, and quickly made it to the other corner, seemingly no guilt to be found. Without any forethought, James suddenly took to the flight of stairs, not realizing others had already gone up them.

As Danielle and Creita got to the top of the stairs they walked delicately into a vast empty room. "Be careful, there's a drop off in certain places.", Creita said. Danielle suddenly realized it was as if the room had been some sort of attic because it had no walls. Farther into the room the floor dropped off completely and the animals in the main room could faintly be heard if only one listened. Suddenly there was a rumbling on the stairs and both dogs turned to see James sprint into the room. The wolf was headed straight for the far side of the room and knocked Creita through a whole in the floor with a squeal. "Stop! The floor drops off!", Danielle yelled hurriedly seeing the wolf was in danger. The wolf turned and stared at her with cold eyes. Danielle became frightened and growled at the wolf known as James. She was mesmerized by his handsome demeanor but frightened by the lack of feelings he portrayed. James took this growl to mean she wanted to fight and he growled back in delight with a glint of what seemed like death in his eyes. Malice seemed to be his only intent and at his growl Danielle slunk her back against the wall in fear letting out a gentle whimper. At this whimper James would typically attack but instead he watched her, letting his growl subside until he stood there with his teeth slightly showing looking rather silly. Danielle noticed this seemed to be odd behavior for him and stood walking a few inches towards him, although she was unaware she was doing so. James watched her hobble movements and for the first time noticed her features. The missing leg. The torn ears. The kind, curious eyes. The ruffled coat. He had never been around females and was unaware of how to act so instead as she got closer he began to growl again. Danielle had begun to realize he was awkward and didn't know kindness so she began to speak with him, "So you're James?". "Well duh, you just saw me downstairs. Are you stupid?", he retorted. "This is not a competition, treat me as an equal.", Danielle kindly replied. The wolf could no longer make eye contact with her and searched the floor wildly for an explanation to put into words. About this time Creita had come to and had been safely moved into a quiet room. She had landed on a male wolf who softened her landing and her only injury was a gently throbbing headache. Also about this time the protectors of the Xama House stormed up the stairs. The protectors of the Xama included three lean, dogs and an intensely large wolf. The four animals stood at the top of the staircase looking at this odd display between James and Danielle. "You!", the large wolf huffed. "Come with me." James took one last, long look at Danielle and submissively followed. After the other three dogs walked downstairs behind James, Danielle followed at a short distance. Once in the main room of the house all the animals lines around the walls and the three dogs blocked the exits while the wolf stood in the middle with James. Suddenly he grabbed James by the throat and threw him to the rotten wood flooring. James submissively laid there at the wolf's feet with closed eyes, awaiting death. The large wolf looked at James, Danielle, and then to Veed and Darlene who stood side by side in the doorway of the hallway. "What shall I do to him?", the large wolf questioned at Veed and Darlene. Veed looked at Danielle and asked her, "Did he harm you?". "No.", Danielle answered quietly. Veed shook his head sadly and said, "I thought we could help him but sadly I see I was wrong. It has been one day James and already you are wreaking havoc on the Xama Household!" Veed paused and looked around the room before continuing, "I think the best thing is to kick him out... But not anywhere near here. He cannot return to the Blood Clan. I'm thinking we drop him off at the coast." Veed finished his thoughts and looked towards Darlene for confirmation. "I think that sounds alright.", Darlene said tentatively not wishing to start any quarrels in the household. The wolf standing over James nodded his head in agreement but his eyes seemed to show different intentions. "And Carlos...", Veed started, looking at the wolf. So that's his name, Danielle thought to herself. "... don't hurt the boy, he can still change.", and with that Veed turned back and walked down the hallway. Carlos peered around the room and the three dogs which Danielle had not noticed left, came back into the room with chains and a black cloth. They proceeded to chain all of James legs together, wrapped him in the black cloth, and placed a chain through holes in the black cloth onto a sled-like piece of steel. The three dogs and the wolf known as Carlos were connected to the sled by all the other animals. As Carlos began to lead the team of dogs through the snow Danielle stumbled as quickly as her little legs could take her and leapt onto the sled entangling herself with an angry James. James yelped out and attempted to bite through the cloth. "Stop! Shut up! I'm going to help you! It's me, the dog you were trying to face up with in the attic.", Danielle said hurriedly. James recognized her voice and relaxed allowing Danielle to stay where she was. It was a harsh, cold wind that blasted Danielle in the face the entire way to the coast. She desperately tried to stick her face into the black cloth but to no avail. Once finally at the coast, Danielle was tired, cold, and hungry but she knew she had to hide and so she did. She managed to slip right under a large rock on the beach. The dogs and wolves worked as a unit untying James and flung him towards the water, "Now swim!". James stood looking startled at Carlos. "You heard me, swim! I don't play by Veed's rules. Swim!", at the last harsh snarl from Carlos James headed into the water. He then began to swim and at this Carlos and his group darted back towards the Xama House through the snowy sunset. James didn't even remember Danielle, he just swam and swam and swam. At dawn he hit land but his body was weak and he had hypothermia. He slunk onto the beach and closed his eyes, expecting only death. As he slept Danielle met a seal by the name of Luscista. She befriended the seal and the seal carried her out to the island in the middle of ocean. Once there, Danielle was utterly amazed that James had even made it out here, but he was well trained and strong. Danielle did not know what to do when he was not responding to her but the seal had already left so Danielle did the only thing she knew how to do and cuddled up next to James for warmth. The next morning James did awake to life and the rest of winter was spent in desperation. Danielle was constantly seeking food to feed James, seeing as he was to weak to hunt. As the snow began to thaw, so did the coldness of James' heart. James had slowly warmed up to Danielle. James' body had lost the majority of its muscle and he had become much leaner and smaller looking but he still had a handsome demeanor that Danielle adored. Danielle had a heart for the lost. On the first real spring day Danielle was ecstatic. She jumped about through flowers and pulled honeysuckle from its roots to bring to James. James sat swaying in a nonexistent breeze on the shoreline smiling ever so brightly at Danielle's shining face. Although they rarely shared words or looks at all, something in them had changed and they knew each other. Danielle and James sat silently smiling and breathing in the fresh spring air. The two simultaneously stood and walked into the pollinated woods. They shared the stories of their past and although they weren't long because they were still so young, the stories were very eventful. Sitting in a small green field on the island they decided to head up onto a small cliff sitting on the opposite side of the island. The two laughed and helped each other over the rocks to the top of the cliff once on the edge they stood smiling in the wind knowing they each were granted a second chance to a new beginning.

Note* - I know the story kind of just drops off but I intended it to be this way because this is only their history and their story is just beginning together. The Xama House was a house symbolizing this art center in a way my own mind wished to portray it in the story; a place of refuge until somebody adopts the artwork out or in a story sense, until they got a second chance. I tried to show it in this way by them starting a new life after leaving the household together.
