The she-cat tilted her head at the fish. Purrinv, she looked back at the water. She watched a shiny fish swim by and yawned. The loner curled up, but watched Cougar silently, but sometimes she would purr. She smiled and watched Cougar as she slowly drifted off to a nap.

Scorchstar saw the rising clamor beside the fresh-kill pile out of the corner of his narrowed emerald eyes. The long-legged male turned to Cobrasong, who seemed to be having trouble gathering her thoughts. Politely, the orange baby excused himself, mewing, "If you don't mind, Cobrasong, I need to go see what's what. Wait here - I'll be back to hear what you have to say soon enough."
With that the large-eared tom got to his slender feet and trotted, long tail waving in the cool air, towards the deputy-to-be. When he got there, he instantly picked up the scent of a rogue, and curled his lips inactively, lashing his tail once. With his eyes still in their narrowed position and his massive ears now flattened, he murmured to Troustsplash, who stood beside him, "What seems to have happened here?".arkest Shadows:. wrote:Batpaw felt those piercing eyes in the back of his head. The tall ebony tom subconsciously flexed his long, hooked claws. You may be one of the best warriors in this clan, but don't you dare underestimate me. I may be blind, but do you know how often I get up and hunt, honing my ears 'till I can hear a mouse sneeze? How I practice the basics till my paws bleed? How I listen to every tip given to me and implement it every chance I get? The petite tom's tail twitched ever so slightly, and a soft, slightly exasperated sigh escaped him. But alas, you are a great warrior; one of the best. You will no doubt defeat me. His almond shaped eyes narrowed ever so slightly then. But it won't be a simple flip and surrender - I am no longer helpless. I've gotten better - much better - and I will prove it today. That is my goal. You'd better watch yourself, Hawkcry.
His thoughts were cut off as Softberry began to speak again. A bit of surprise flickered through him at her words; regardless, only his whiskers twitched to show for it. "Thank you," Batpaw mewed in his soft voice, his ears going back a bit as he felt a warm muzzle rest on his head. I don't remember the last time I've been nuzzled.... it's nicer than I remember. the ebony tom thought absentmindedly, enjoying the temporary warmth against his better judgement. At Softberry's last mew, a small smile crossed Batpaw's maw, but it was gone as quickly as it had come. He had to focus.
I'm ready to get down to business, Hawkcry. Are you? I doubt it. Nothing too elaborate? You'll learn. "I'm ready," Batpaw mewed, his soft voice betraying none of his thoughts. He completely skipped over curtsies. Time was running out. "How would you like to do this?" I'm assuming sparring, no claws, all brawl - but perhaps you are just here to show off your skills and teach me new things rather than spar. But, I have a feeling that perhaps both will occur today. Regardless, I'll be nice, and let you decide, Hawkcry.

Spottedpaw shook her head. "Tell me about it," the golden molly said, sniffing in disgust. "She has no respect for our rest." The older molly detected the purr, and grinned. "Your eager to chat with her, huh? Well, I agree - she's a lot more mild tempered than most elders," Spottedpaw added, before sniffing at the prey pile. "What do you think we should take her? A nice hare? I think a lizard is a bit too crunch, but you know her better than I do," the tall molly stated, curling her tail. I'm glad Flarepaw's in a better mood today. Last time, she was a bit angry after that incident with Batpaw. But now, everything's good - maybe she'll be off punishment early if she stays out of trouble like she is now.

Snow watched Mossleap clean her face, noting her emerald eyes never swayed from his own baby blue gaze. Her tail twitched, but if he wasn't watching, he would've completely missed it. She's impatient yet curious all in one. The pearl tom drew that conclusion, before anglomg his baby blue gaze towards the sky, his pale whiskers twitching with mild amusement. It is getting late. Only one cat was sent to remove me, and I am still here. If rejecting me was a show of force, a show that I wasn't needed here and that I would be eradicated, than it is pretty poor if it is followed up by a one-cat escort - a cat that doesn't even really care where I end up. Needless to say, no one has even checked to see if she has done her job. Ahhh, that is why this clan needs to be bettered - they need discipline. Regardless, I shall enjoy the mirage while it lasts. "You have a question," Snow stated, standing up and stretching leisurely before padding over to the entrance of the den, and stopping. From there he could see the Oasis, a group of cats near the prey pile, and Scorchstar sitting, somewhat relaxed, chatting with a molly. Stay just like that, Scorchstar. You know, your not going to have much peace after this. Peace is simply a mirage - it always hides an uglier truth behind a beautiful screen, and never lasts. But you can enjoy it if you understand that it's only temporary...... Noting that two cats were near the Oasis, Snow waited for them to pass. After all, wouldn't want to cause a commotion. Perhaps my screen could last a bit longer.

Flarepaw mewed, still padding along beside Spottedpaw with her elegant tail whisking through the slightly chilly air, "Yeah, I guess. And you're right.. she is more mildly-tempered than most elders.. Try to compare her to Cactusfoot.. Now he's a grumpy, troublesome cat.." When they reached the heap of prey, they moved around the crowd that was gathered beside it. Apparently some rogue had snuck into camp and had stolen a rat, and the ebony female knew better than to get involved in Clan problems like these. She left the issue to her father, who had just bounded over and was now speaking to Troutsplash. The stoic tomcat wasn't pleased.. His fur was still slightly rumpled from sleep, and his ears were pasted back against his angular head. Flare paw knew she'd be acting the same if she was in his paws... This was the fourth rogue incident in less than a day!
Turning her thinly-furred head away from the group of felines, she joined the hazel-eyed molly at the pile and looked at their options. "Nah, a lizard is too crunchy for Noeyes and Cactusfoot.. Let's get a hare for Noeyes and a two plump mice for Cactusfoot. That ought to please them."
The spritely female leaned down and grabbed the two mice by their tails then and started walking towards the nearby elders' den.

The dark warrior nodded to the medicine cat as she passed and when Batpaw turned to him, he pawed aside the remains of his hare. He strode over to the much smaller, ebony tomcat and meowed, circling around him and inspecting him with his head arrogantly raised, "Well, for starters, it's obvious that you know all of the basics when it comes to sparring. Let's delve more into this, and learn some tougher moves, eh? For example, something along these lines will quickly win you a fight."
With that being ominously said, Hawkcry, letting out a mock battle cry, lurched forward, claws sheathed, and, with his rippling shoulder, swept the blind male off of his feet. Bat paw fell to the ground, crumpling under the dark tabby's greater weight, and the bblue-eyed brute reared up on his hind legs above the tom as if to swipe at his belly. "The classic belly-rake. When you're pinned or if you're in tricky situation, if possible, you can shove your adversary off of you and attack his throat and stomach. Easy peasy."

Noeyes purred sweetly as the young male grabbed the fish, "Run along now. And thank you for your kindness." Once the rogue had left, Noeyes swiveled her patchy-furred head around to face Cactusfoot. The Russian blue flattened her ears and twitched her whiskers with annoyance at the fellow elder, "No need to be so hostile to the youngster, you know, you old bat. He was only trying to provide his services." She sat up and preened her ruffled, thin fur, adding with a snort, "You should learn to be more appreciative."

I stand with a small shake of my pelt, pushing past the Tom, and into the large camp. "I may. But that's none of your concern, now is it?" My gaze is fierce as I look at Snow. I see wisdom in his eyes, making me feel slightly uncomfortable. This cat was larger than I, but I was quite confident in my fighting abilities. Their was a reason Scorchstar had chosen me, I'm sure of it. I flick the white tip of my tail for the Tom to follow, as I start toward the entrance to camp.
