Okay, so, Rawst Diary Berry. Where was I again? *checks the page before* Oh, yeah. The.... question. So... The professor answered me, anyways. Here's a picture I managed to snap. Not that I'm a creepy stalker of not-very-old-professors-who-are-named-after-trees, anyways.
And my 'friends' if you forgot - (like that even is possible)![]()
Nightshade xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Zavier
Professor Sycamore didn't look mad. He simply grinned sheepishly and ran a paw through his hair. "Well, you see... It's..." He paused, shook his head, then shrugged. "I don't actually know, really. But anyways, are you here for starters and PokΓ©dexes?"
Zavier nodded his head eagerly. "Totally!"
Professor Sycamore sighed and ran his paw through his hair again. "Well, you see.... I only have one starter left, and two PokΓ©dexes. So I'm afraid..."
Nightshade raised his eyebrows. "I'm sure I can perhaps... catch one. Winter does have an Eevee already, anyways."
I opened my mouth to tell him that my Eevee was faulty (like a machine) but the professor interrupted me. "I see! An Eevee.... You don't get them easily around here." He reached up and took Eevee off my head. "Quite a healthy one, too. You should be glad."
Eevee purred and flashed me a mischievous look. "Eve!" It agreed. I silently groaned in my head. Why does Eevee act all nice with others, but not me, its owner? I simply nodded and muttered, "Yeah... Right."
"Then it's settled. Fennekin, the last starter, can go to... Ah, I still don't know your names."
"Zavier Wildfire, PokΓ©mon Trainer and soon-to-be PokΓ©mon Master." "Nightshade Ivytail." "I'm Winter.... Gryph."
Professor Sycamore nodded. "I see." He pawed over a PokΓ©ball to Zavier, who squealed with delight like a pup. I think I saw Nightshade roll his eyes, but he was smiling.
"So now, the PokΓ©dexes. I -" "Give those two to them. I have my own... My dad gave it to me."
The professor tilted his head. "So is your father a PokΓ©mon Trainer?" "My dad's a professor, my mom's a breeder." "I look forward to meeting them soon."
I just nodded as Nightshade and Zavier received their PokΓ©dexes from Professor Sycamore. "So where are you heading? For.... PokΓ©mon Trainers, perhaps you might want to go to Santalune City for your first gym battle with Viola, a bug type user. Zavier's Fennekin should have a good advantage there." "Aw, yeah! Totally awesome!"
The professor turned to me. "How about you?" "I guess... I'll go with Zavier. To.... battle the gym. Yeah."
Nightshade turned to me. "But... I need your help with catching a PokΓ©mon."
Zavier opened his mouth to argue, probably, but he shut it. "Then I'll hurry on first. You can... catch up, right?"
"Yeah... I think." I watched as Zavier hurried outside without a goodbye. I shrugged and turned back to Nightshade. "So..." "Come on. Let's go."
Nightshade gave me a small smile - then he hurried outside, too. I quickly bid farewell to the professor and followed Nightshade outside. When I stepped out, Nightshade had already rushed off. Then I realized I had forgotten Eevee. "Eevee!" I yelled back through the entrance.
There was silence. I groaned and rushed back inside. Eevee was snuffling among a bag of PokΓ©balls. "EEVEE! YOU'RE GOING TO -" Eevee looked up. "Eevee!" He cried, bounding towards me.
"There's a good boy now. Come to -" Eevee rushed right under my paws and fled outside. "COME BACK! BAD DOG!" I screamed back outside, following him. When I finally managed to reach the entrance again, Nightshade was standing by the entrance to whatever route it was, holding Eevee in his paws.
"Some trouble?" he asked, as I staggered up. Eevee jumped out of his paws and landed on my head again. "Yeah - No - I mean, maybe." Nightshade gave me the suspicious look, but he shrugged. "So... can be go now?" "Yeah. Let's go."
We headed along - Nightshade spotted a large patch of tall grass. I noticed a PokΓ©mon scuffling around some of the leaves - I pulled out my PokΓ©dex.
Zigzagoon. A raccoon with zig zag stripes. Normal type. The PokΓ©dex said - in my dad's voice. "Um, give me... more information?"
The PokΓ©dex repeated the exact same thing again. I groaned. "This isn't any use..." I muttered, but I pointed it out to Nightshade anyways. He simply ignored me and hurried on. When I caught up, he was already wading around in the tall grass again. Suddenly he grinned and motioned for me to come. I hurried through the tall grass to crouch by his side.
"See? Look. An Espurr." He whispered. "It's really good for a Cute PokΓ©mon Contest." "A..... PokΓ©mon Contest?" "N - Never mind. Can I borrow Eevee for a sec?" "Get it off my head, then."
Nightshade chuckled softly as he reached out and gently pulled Eevee off my head. I could feel my face getting hot - probably because 'Why does Eevee listen to everybody except me, his owner? Eevee jumped out of Nightshade's paws and sniffed the air, turning to face wherever the Espurr was. There was a rustle - and then the action began.
"Eevee! Tackle!" Eevee flew forwards on its little paws and short legs - I couldn't believe it could actually run quickly - and knocked into something which I presumed was a small stone. Instead, the 'stone' went flying - and it uncurled, revealing a small, cat-like PokΓ©mon. (My camera got a much closer shot than I wanted.)
"Espurr!" it cried, landing on its tiny paws. Eevee turned to face it, his tail flicking eagerly. "Great job, Eevee! Now try Tackle again!" Eevee yowled a battle cry (which, honestly, sounded like a pup squealing for milk) and charged it again. This time, the Espurr was ready. It bounced out of the way, surprisingly quick for such a tiny creature. But again, fleas are jumpy but tiny, so... meh.
Anyways, as soon as Espurr hit the ground, it bounced towards Eevee. "What is it doing?" I asked in confusion - the Espurr seemed to look meek and harmless. Eevee seemed to think so too - he snorted with laughter as the Espurr approached. Nightshade blinked, then yelled, "Eevee! Jump! It's -" Before he could finish his sentence, the Espurr suddenly lashed out a tiny paw, which had surprisingly sharp claws. Eevee yelped as it was knocked back by whatever move it was.
"- Covet." Nightshade finished his sentence with a sigh. Espurr struck again, raking its claws down Eevee's side with the normal Scratch move. Eevee yowled again - it sent a shiver through my bones as I watched the claws slash down his side. Nightshade narrowed his eyes.
"Eevee! Growl!" He called. I was about to tell him exactly what I thought about Eevee's battle cry - instead, Eevee let out a growl that actually sounded threatening. Espurr shrank back, eyes even bigger than before. "Sand Attack!"
I peered at the ground - grass and dirt. No sand. However, Eevee just seemed to magically create sand from the spot as he turned around and kicked at the ground. Espurr stumbled backwards even further, letting out a little "E - Espurr!" in the process.
"Eevee, Tackle!" Eevee bounded towards the Espurr - the Espurr blindly countered with a Scratch. Its paws flailed wildly as it tried scratching Eevee - the sand in its eyes made it miss Eevee by a paw. Eevee slipped past Espurr, spun around, and knocked it flat on its flat face.
"Great!" Nightshade called - I could swear Eevee turned his head and sent me a smug look. Nightshade pulled out something from his bag - a PokΓ©ball. "Go!"
We all watched as Espurr actually just went for it and disappeared in a flash of red - the PokΓ©ball wobbled back and forth. We all watched as we heard the 'click' and Nightshade grinned. He picked it up and slipped it into his bag, no dramatic moments. I wasn't looking forward to one of those - "I CAUGHT A CATERPIE!" kind of thing. What kind of person would go crazy over a little bug?
Nightshade smiled at me. "Thanks for letting me borrow your Eevee." He said. His tail flicked and the snake head at the end hissed at me - I wasn't sure if it was saying 'Thanks' or 'I want to eat you'. I don't speak Snake, and especially not 'Snake Head on the Tail' kind of thing. "Yeah. Um, whatever." I smiled back awkwardly - Is the rest of my life going to be spent like this with the boys? - and turned to Eevee.
"Eevee! Um, re - come back!" I yelled, but Eevee just ignored me and continued playing in the grass. I sighed and turned back to Nightshade.
"Are you heading for a certain place? Maybe... a PokΓ©mon Contest?" I shook my head. "Maybe some other day. I'll catch up to Zaiver and maybe battle the first gym." Nightshade sighed - was that longing in his eyes? "Well... I might see you soon. I'll be... heading for a different place." "Where?" "I - I - I need to go. Bye."
He hurried off without another word - I felt a little hurt. But... why should I care? I sighed and walked over to Eevee. "We better go now. Come on." Eevee gave me a look before jumping up to snag a corner of my hoodie in his jaws. "Oi!" "Eve!" He scrabbled up my back to stretch himself on top of my head like I was some kind of mat or something. I sighed - but at least I wouldn't be just leaving him here.
So... yeah. I'll better get Eevee to a PokΓ©mon Center then start off walking... See you, I guess. Rawst Diary. Berry. Diary. Berry. Whatever.
