Given that the Oekaki doesn't have the same tools/filters as Photoshop, you'll probably have to draw out the effect yourself.

I;m new and wanted to try out Oekai. It said I needed to install Java Plug in. I installed it onto my mac and it still didn't work. What do I do?

I'm not sure what happens when you say "it didn't work", but here's a link to the Oekaki/Java problems and solutions thread, you might find your issue and your solution there. :3

Have you whitelisted Chicken Smoothie on the Java Exception list? If not, there're instructions on how to do so here. You'll need to add http://www.chickensmoothie.com/ to the whitelist.

I'm encountering the same sort of problem. I added Chicken Smoothie to the list, and it loaded the Oekaki, but when I hit save drawing, there was a popup saying:

Error:access denied ("java.net.SocketPermission")
"75.101.141.188:80" "connect,resolve")

Your drawing has not been saved

I used to have oakaki but not it seems that i don't have it anymore.. So when i updated java right now to new version, it was uploaded and when i reloaded and restarted i came to chicken smoothie tried making a drawing but it said i needed java... What just happened?

Try switching to Chibipaint V2.0 You can do so here.
