Siv. wrote:Adira sat under a large oak tree, her legs crossed over one another. Her back was a few feet out from the bark, giving her dark wings enough room to be comfortable. They lay folded across her back, their feathers tucked neatly in place. Her eyes were currently all black, taking the form of a harpy eagle. She used her keen eyesight to scan the trees in front and to the sides of her, looking for her little feathered friend. A few moments after she let out a short, high pitched whistle, the small sparrow finally coming into view. It flew down from it's hidden perch in a nearby tree, swooping down and back up a few times before landing on her outstretched hand. The small creature was light enough to perch on her index finger, it's tiny head bobbing around as it looked at her.
Adira was currently on the back lawn of the academy, near the large garden on the outskirts of the forest. She had arrived the day before and already checked in, found her room, and unpacked. She was still unsure who her roommate was but figured she could find that out later as most people hadn't made it here yet. She had been here the year before, so she already knew her way around. It was early, the sun just making its way up over the horizon.

Adrian was in his dorm room, setting up his belongings. Since he had no idea who else he would share his room with, and to his knowledge he hadn't even been here yet, he had already claimed which furniture was his. He had also moved stuff around to better suit his taste, but still kept everything even. He had chose the bed on the right side of the room, and already his personal items were thrown across it. Sighing, he took one last look around the room before leaving. He would unpack the rest of his stuff later, but for now he decided he would take a look around. It had taken him about twenty minutes to just find his room, so he figured he should learn his way around. Coming from a small town with an even smaller school, the sheer size of the academy was a huge change for him.

'Just get through, already!' Her luggage tumbled onto the pavement after 5 seconds of shoving it through the bus door. She huffed, jumping over it and taking the beat up and broken handle. Yes, this was the way the young girl functioned. After being cramped up in a bus for 3 hours her wings were probably crooked and her arm would have a permanent tattoo of the windowsill. She wrestled her luggage handle to extend and then began her walk to the academy. [i]'A great place for freaks like me!'/i] She groaned to herself in her head

Hark turned up the heat to his dorm for the 5th time today. It just always seemed really cold to him. He would have been fine in his normal dorm if it hadn't been changed. So now the shapeshifter made a fine line for his roomie and himself. And that line didn't exist. His clothes were on the other bed, and his desk drawers were already open. He had music in his earphones at the highest volume, and he swore he wasn't practically half deaf because of it. "Aaaand.. Done." He proclaimed after changing his bed sheets and closing his drawers. The man then decided to walk around campus, maybe find someone to talk to

Watery beams of sunlight hit the windows of the train as it moved along it's track. This particular track was long and winding, snaking through the country side on a journey to deliver passengers to their destination of the small town ahead. Though the track ended about a mile away from Oakthrope academy, the small town the tracks led to was not the end of someone else's journey.

As the train pulled out of the small station, a young teenage girl watched it go. One hand grasped the black handle of a medium sized suitcase, while the other held the string strap of a back that had been slung over her shoulder. Long blonde hair fell over her right ear, and a gentle wave of blonde framed that side of her face as she look out over the forest that lay past the tracks. There was a moment where, though the train had already begun fading in the distance, she stood still, bright green optics looking forward, before the girl turned away and started walking.

It was hard for Lania to imagine what it was going to be like. Her new life was only a short bus ride away, and she was, in all honesty, nervous. She didn't know what kind of people would be at the Academy, and not even who she would be living this. This was one of the main things that worried the teen, and as she boarded the bus that would take her there, she hoped that she would get along with her dorm mate.

The girl hadn't even been thinking about her powers lately, but as she tried to imagine what kind of person she would be living with for the next year, she tried to guess what kind of power they had. Lania had never met anyone else with powers, and had no idea what kind of powers there even were. Was there someone who could turn invisible? Were mythical creatures like werewolves and centaurs real? There were in truth a lot of possibilities, if she could turn into a cat, what could everyone else do? Perhaps there would even be someone who could shape shift as well. This excited Lania. Though some small part of her would like to be unique, and be the only shape shifter there, she also wanted to meet someone else like herself. Lost in thought, the girl hadn't even realized that the bus had come to a stop, and the doors had opened. 'Anyone getting off?' The bus driver asked, jolting Lania back to reality. Standing up, she quickly gathered her things and got off the bus, pulling her suitcase down after her. With a thump, the bus doors closed, and the girl was left standing, all alone on a short expanse of gravel. Lania took a step back, her shoes crunching loudly on the gravel. Green grass expanded out in front of her, speckled with trees that quickly became for thick. Turning around, Lania let out an audible gasp, before quickly shutting her mouth. As a kid, she had gone to a smallish school, that was pretty plain, but the Academy was huge, and beautiful, and something she would never have imagined attending. Then remembering that she had to go set up her dorm, the girl quickly hurried forward and entered the building.

Hark was heading to the door, whistling to himself as he walked. He was about to reach the door until he noticed a girl speeding towards the door. He quickly moved out of her way. "New here, huh?" He grinned

For some reason, Lania had it in her mind that her first encounter with another student, or especially a teacher, they would be some creature that wasn't even human, or have some crazy powers. Mostly she just wanted to get to her dorm and put her stuff down so that she could explore. She hadn't tried to use her powers for a while, since last time she had a pretty hard time changing to her feline form and back. Though it was a bit of an irrational thought, the girl was worried that her powers were going to stop working all together, and that she'd be a complete failure, and even have to leave the school. As the fifteen year-old sped froward, she neared the door, not even noticing the boy until he jumped aside and spoke. Lania gave a little jump, looking around before her pale gaze landed on Hark. He look, well, really normal. She immediately what he's powers were, but she wasn't about to just outright ask. "Oh, uh hey," she greeted, feeling pretty embarrassed. "Yeah, I'm kinda new," she didn't really want to admit that she had stepped onto the campus for the first time literally seconds ago. "Just heading to my dorm," she gave a light laugh, that was slightly nervous, but also humorous and warm. "I'm Lania, what's your name?" She was actually pretty glad that the boy seemed pretty normal, though she was curious about what types of people were attending the school, it was always better to know that there were other people like you. Well, at least on the surface.

"Awesome. Names Hark. I uh, went here for a couple of years so I can probably show you around." He examined her face to check her age. 15? Maybe 16? Definitely new here. "Aaand give you some survival guides on freak city." He made a slight crazy twirl with one finger, blazing yellow eyes rolling in over exaggeration.

Ok, so yellow eyes weren't really normal, but he looked like he was all-human otherwise. Maybe the eyes had something to do with his powers. Hearing his words, Lania quickly focused on the conversation again. "Nice to meet you Hark," she replied. Hark was a name she hadn't really heard before. Show her around? Well, it would probably be good to get a tour, but she also wanted to explore a little. Freak city? Seemed like a little bit of a harsh name for the Academy, and in all honesty Lania wanted to meet other people with powers. "Sure," she said, finally coming to the decision that it really would be better is someone showed her around. "Let me just go put all of my stuff down first," the teenager added. She made it sound like it was easy, but the girl had no idea where her dorm was. "Er, is there any chance you could point me in the direction of the dorms?"
