Rosalynn resisted the urge to glare at Lily. That would be childish and wouldn't help her any. Sighing, she nodded to Rowan and quickly hurried into the forge, looking for the scrap metal. A she searched, she hummed quietly, occasionally muttering to herself. The girl found the silver scrap and scooped it into her hands. Rose brought it to Rowan and waited for her next task.

Titania turned back to Rowan smiling. "Thank you! I owe you a favor, we can discuss something later." She hummed happily thinking over what she could do for him. She was a seamstress, a poor one. But this was important, and he could have said no to the strange request. She sighed turning back to the young princess. "I take it the dress will be in magenta as always m'lady, will a fitting be necessary?" Gently she led the young royal away from the blacksmith shop, cringing at the brats bigoted and snotty tenancies. She could easily have mended the dress, it was beautiful. Now it was being thrown away over a small tear. She didn't have enough money for this. "May I suggest I just mend the dress that has the tear, it is one of your favorites and with the money I earn and what the king has so graciously given me I do not have enough for necessities." She led the brat to the front of her shop slipping inside. She bowed slightly to the ex-queen smiling. "The princess want's a new dress... Do you think you can do the fitting for her? I need to fit the king for some new robes before noon. Rowan may stop by around noon with buttons for the barons vest. Turn down any wedding request, I need to run to the market..." She blew a strand of black hair out of her face shoulders slumping. "I hardly have food... We need this money." She sighed gathering supplies. "I will try to be quick."

Rowan leaned his shovel up against the wall and wiped the sweat from his brow. The forge was hotter than fiery hell, and with just silver, it wouldn't take much. Rowan bowed his head in thanks as his assistant brought him the soft metal. He clamped the silver sheet in a vice and set it in the furnace until it was soft and pliable.

The satyr then pulled it out and took it to his anvil to set it down. "Chisel, please," He said to Rose, motioning in the general direction that he had last seen the tool. Once it was delivered to him, he used it along with his hammer to break off five chunks. He figured he could make some extra, in case one got lost.

"So I'll have you know," Rowan said to Rose, not looking up from his work. "I've never made buttons before. I'll let you be my judge." He gave a soft chuckle. Rowan always went out of his way to treat Rose fairly and kindly. Her family had done the same for him, when they had been in power. He was sympathetic to their plight, and tried to offer whatever he had to help. If they would have stood for it, Rowan would have invited the entire family to stay in his home.

At least, being the garden keeper as well, he could ensure that they were fed. Rowan had quite the green thumb, so a few fruits and vegetables were never missed if he snuck them away. However, unfortunately, his company were humans. And humans had a hard time living on vegetables alone. But he did what he could.

While the silver was still soft, Rowan gently tapped the chunks into round balls, holding them in his tongs and turning them. When they cooled, he took them back to the forge to heat them, then back to the anvil they went. When the balls were finally smooth, he gently hammered them into small, flat disks. One more trip back the forge, and to the anvil again, and he used a nail to hammer the holes into the buttons. To add a little touch, he molded them to be slightly concave.

When the tiny trinkets were finally finished and cooled, he picked up one to turn it over in his hand. "What do you think?" He asked Rose, holding it out for her to take.

Rose had been staring into the forge, deep in thought. The heat didn't bother her as much as it should had and the burning coals and small flickering flames kept her attention. She jerked her head up to look at the buttons, almost startled when Rowan spoke again.
Rosalynn smiled and took the small silver disk, enjoying the feeling of the still warm metal in her palm. "They're fine buttons, especially for you're first time making them." She paused for a moment, "Would you like me to take them to Tatiana?" Rose didn't know enough to use the forge or make anything, but she wanted to be of use to Rowan.

"That would be very kind of you," Rowan said approvingly. With Rose delivering the buttons, he could slip away from the smithery and check on his garden. Maybe get a post-breakfast snack. Once his assistant was gone, Rowan did just that.

He took a basket with him to the beautiful gardens. One was dedicated strictly to flowers. Roses and lilies grew in every color of the rainbow. And the other, Rowan's personal pride and joy, was for fruits and vegetables. The satyr stepped into the black, fertile soil of the food garden, his nimble hooves skillfully avoiding squash and eggplants. He began to pick what looked ripe.

Some summer squash, bright yellow and crisp, went into the basket. A couple of dark purple eggplants, some cucumbers, peas, peppers, and large, juicy tomatoes. As he approached the cherry tomato bush, Rowan couldn't help but pluck off a handful to munch on. They were sweet and small, just the right size for a snack.

He went down the lettuce rows, collected giant cabbages, head of romaine, spinach, and turnips with greens.

At this point, his basket was overflowing and very heavy. Rowan had to take it back to the shop to get another. Then, it was right into the fruit garden. Bright green apples, red and yellow apples, and small, tart crab apples filled his basket. Pears, grapes, and all variety of berries. Cashew apples and walnuts were tossed in among the bundle. Sweet smelling strawberries were gently set on top of the growing mound.

When Rowan was sure he'd gathered all the ripe fruits the garden had to offer, he went to one last section to tend to the spices. He clipped some rosemary branches, basil leaves, mint, and thyme. They grew all sorts of spices here, but many still have to be imported. With his basket full again, he went back to his shop and set it by the vegetables. When Rose came returned, he would let her take her pick to deliver back to her family.

For the time being, he plucked up a bright green apple, juicy and tart, and began to munch on it. Being part goat, Rowan could always eat. These days, he hardly ever got enough to fill his stomach.

Lily was miffed that the seamstress couldn't prepare her dress right away because of her brother's lack of funding. She knew that he was putting most of the kingdom's funds were being used to increase the army and for supplies for them. "I'll speak to my brother to get you more fabric." She said. Turning back to the castle, she walked quickly to her brother's throne room, where he probably was. Knocking, she called," Joseph!"

Titania swallowed sighing. "I need money not fabric..." She sighed shaking her head... honestly she preferred to buy her own fabrics over having them purchased for herself. She deflated slightly and shook her head. When the ex-princess Rose delivered the buttons she needed. She turned the small buttons over in her hand marveling at them. "Thank you so much. Please tell Rowan that i owe him, whenever either of you need a favor."She grinned brightly and showed the princess the fine vest. "For a baron, looks nice hum? Just need the buttons. With this order I can get enough fabric and fabric scraps for a different project." She grinned motioning to a beautiful. "It was a gift for you, the surprise is ruined and I'll need to do a fitting later, but it is worth it." She grinned nodding. "I apologize, I need to go. I'm afraid I need to cater to the brat..." She scowled and brushed her skirt of dust gathering some string needles and fabric. Carefully she headed into the castle and made her way to the kings chambers, trailing the spoiled princess. ((short sorry))

"Well I don't care what the delegate thinks. I'm the king, and what I say goes."

"But sir."

"That's final," Joseph snarled. The man he was speaking to sighed and turned away, walking out of the throne room just as the princess walked in. Joseph was having to deal with peasant affairs. The kingdom was crying yet again because they thought he didn't give them enough money. All they ever wanted was his money! What about what he wanted? Who was giving him money? Who was going to pay for his dear mother's treatment if he had to give up his money to all these whimpering dogs?

Joseph looked up as his sister walked in, trailing by the sewing wench. Lily didn't look happy. Great, what was it now?

"Dear sister," Joseph crooned with a slight hint of insincerity. "What troubles you now?"

"My favorite maroon gown has a rip in it, and when I went to tell the seamstress to make me a new one, she said that she needed more money for fabric. Get it to her quickly, will you, so she can start making that gown! I can't be without my favorite!" Lily replied.
