Ferondir cursed himself. Why did he have to be such an open book? He never could keep a secret from Zeph. But Zeph had secrets too.
"You tell me about your arm, and I'll tell you what I know."
He was taking a risk. But he doubted Zeph was ready to spill the beans.

For one split moment, Zeph was caught off guard.
He sharply inhaled.
???
He thought he was being careful, cautious.
How did he know?
M-my ar-
After that moment, he put up his walls and went back to looking normal.
He was definately a good actor when it came to hiding emotions.
He kept a straight, emotionless face for a moment, Tactically thinking about what to do next-
Ferondir knew something was up-
He couldnt walk away-
No, that would raise more than just his flag-
He could use memory magic-
No. Ferondir would react to quickly-
He could use Ferondirs lack of a limb against him, break him...make him angry to avoid the subject?-
No, Ferondirs expecting that, he can see it on his face.
He could just show him-
No. Never. He cant ever.

He laughed, now smiling and seeming normal
You're so paranoid sometimes. What about my arm? An arms an arm. He said lightly, smiling. Glancing down to make sure his cloak covered his arm, then glancing towards Ferondirs lack of an arm.
we all know that. He said sharply, now looking up from his missing limb.
If Ferondir was going to hit close to home, so would Zeph.
Now, if you dont mind, I have some studying to do. It wouldnt hurt to have more than one person know what they're talking about. He put a bit to much stress onto that last statement. He had to cover it.

He smiled at Guzore
Anything else I need to know?
He started to turn to walk up to the ship.

Paranoid?
Ferondir stopped.
He wasn't being paranoid. Was he? He shook his head to rid himself of the thought. Anyway, this had been his plan.
He started walking again.
The ruse had worked. He didn't have to say anything about what he knew.

Several yards behind Zeph, Ferondir muttered, "I'm not paranoid." There had been a flicker of panic in Zeph's eyes. And those low blows were a bit over the top. "There really is something up with him." Something big.
"An arm's an arm." He looked over at the hook attached to his left elbow. "I like my hook." It was so good for cooking. It made Ferondir special. He was the only one with a hook that he knew.
"An arm's an arm indeed."

After that little event outside, Zeph was abit riled.
He felt ashamed for being so rude.
He, like Ferondir, never even gave his arm any attention, he was perfectly capable without it.
Plus his hook was kinda cool.

Zeph went down the nearest hallway, to what he observed was the emptiest section of the boat, and swerved right, into the nearest supply closet.
He shut and locked the door behind him.

He was really freaked.
He had already mostly known that Ferondir knew. But he never thought that he consciously payed attention to the bruises.
He put his back on the door, and slid down it until he was sitting on the ground.
Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. crap. CRAP!!
He said, running his hand through his hair, pushing it back and out of his face.
UGH! He exclaimed.
Why- Do- I- Do- This- To- My- Self he slurred angrily.
He bashed his hand into the nearest shelf several times. He didn't really care how much it hurt.
To be truthful, he wasn't even sure what he was furious about
Lying to Ferondir?
Ferondir knowing?
The pain that his scars were causing him right now?
How much of a Jerk he was being?
untapped potential?
the fact that he may of ruined his best friendship?

All of the above? Check.

He rubbed his hand through his hair once more, causing it to be even more squalid and messy than it was.
He was to furious at everything to even think about magic right now.

He sat in that hot, wet, dirty closet for a very long time, he didnt keep track.
He never wanted to leave, he never wanted to see anyone, he never wanted to see him again.
Ive used up all my chances this time.
Im such a freaking Idiot! He yelled, hitting the heavily beaten shelf once more.

After what he presumed was about a hour or so, he was to exhausted to continue bashing everything around him and letting out his anger, and he'd used most of the average persons vocabulary in horrible thoughts about himself.

He cant really pinpoint when, but at some point he started bawling.

He was going to be better.
He had to be.
He was already trying, and to be honest today was already a pretty good day.
He just wanted things to be better.
He just wanted his best friend back. He wanted to tell him.
He would know how to help Zeph... He always did. He was always good at fixing Zephs problems.
But he couldn't. Not ever.
He knew how forgiving Ferondir was, all the times he'd forgiven his screw ups before.
But how could he expect Ferondir to forgive him if he couldn't even stand the thought of actually continuing on with living, right now.

Okay. Enough. He mumbled dryly.
He stood up wiping the tears and sweat from his face, but not bothering to realize that his eyes were still puffy from crying.
He headed to the bedroom that was assigned to him and ferondir. It was a small room, meaning the beds were very close together.
He opened the door, being careful not to let any light into the room, and trying as hard as he could to not wake Ferondir, who was, from what he knew, asleep in the bed.
They were already set sail, he saw Jakub up by the steering wheel, they must be on their way to the mansion.
He rubbed his hands through his mess of hair once more, before he took off his cloak, and got into his bed.
I-Im sorry. I don't expect you to forgive me. And I don't know how to do this when you're awake, I dont think I can. This was always your thing. I always try to seem like I know what im doing...how to solve any problem...how to deal with any situation with magic. But the truth is, while I am good at my magic, Its just...a...A barrier. So I dont have to deal with my real feelings. But when Im with you...I can just... Embrace them... you always knew what to do. You have always been my anchor... the magnetic field to my compass. You always knew how to fix my problems... Please...help me. He whispered, before falling asleep with even more tears on his face now.
He assumed Ferondir was asleep too.
But to be safe, he tucked his bruised hand under his blanket, to keep it out of site.
Things would get better, he knew they would.
Because they have no where else to but better.
He has just about hit rock bottom.

Della Collern/13/Color-Blind/Tagged: No one/Where: The ship

Della sat by herself in the darkness, wondering what she just heard. She wasn't in her room, she was stationed in the hallway outside the closet, expertly hidden in the shadows. She had heard what Zeph did in the closet and while she couldn't comprehend words, she knew there was a lot of banging and crying. She was starting to feel a bit sorry for the fellow, but didn't quite know why. She sold up, walking to her own quarters.
Maybe she had been too hard on him. What had Zeph done, really? She remembered the magic from their first encounter. She just remembered feeling hurt and angry, and comparing him to the bullies at her school. That's how she had treated him this whole trip, without actually knowing anything about him.
She reached into her pocket and pulled out the red potion, thinking about it for a long time. "Coward." She eventually mumbled to herself, entering her room and putting the potion back in her bag.

Ferondir just lied there, silent. What had Zeph just said? Why wasn't Ferondir responding?
He bit his lip. If anyone was good at magic, if was Zephyrus. Ferondir wasn't worried about the scar as much as he was worried that his closest friend was lying to him.
He decided to sleep on it, perhaps when he woke, he'd have the perfect solution.

Roughly eight hours later...

Ferondir slipped from a dream he was already starting to forget. A single thought in his mind: He was hiding something too. Maybe if he took care of himself first, he could better help Zephyrus. He had to tell someone.
But...
No. It would be difficult, but secrets felt like poison at the moment. Who would he tell? The person he trusted the most. Zeph always laughed at Ferondir's worry, but he always took it seriously. If Ferondir didn't say anything, his friend, and his entire party (He did feel very responsible for them) might be walking into a death trap, completely unaware.
He had to tell Zeph. He couldn't tell the others, yet. What if he was being paranoid? Maybe they were just legends. Then again, maybe not. He reached over with his hook and poked Zeph, but he was sound asleep.
"I don't know who else to tell." Who else would take his paranoia seriously?
He poked his friend again. Nothing.
He'd have to wait. This bed was very warm. Maybe he'd just close his eyes until his friend woke up.

The night before...

Jakub took his place at the bridge.
He was going to help these people. Fate had brought them all together, so who was he to decide any different?
They needed to get to Gregal lake, that's what the one called Zephyrus had told him. He'd have to go around the east Feron woods. Better sailing then going through that forest. Those trees were full of evil creatures. Every native tribe he'd encountered in this area had told him to stay away from the woods.

What Zephyrus had done to his mind and his clothing still had him a bit shaken up.

He'd seen the kid run into the cabin as if the plague were chasing him. He'd watched as the Goron carried the girl into the ship. And he'd seen the one with the hook stumble into the ship, seemingly overwhelmed by thought.
They seemed like brothers, and maybe they were. He had never seen such loyalty in his men, and they were the loyalest sailors he could ask for.
"Fate will keep us all together for a while yet."

Guzore woke up that morning remembering what he heard last night. He was reading a book in the bathroom when he heard some yelling and banging on the walls. At first he figured someone else was just using the bathroom, but that had begun to sound more intense. He wasn't sure who it was, but it sounded like a male voice. (Not that that narrowed it down much.) He left the bathroom and saw that Ferondir was sound asleep in his room and Jack in his. Was it Zephyrus then? He figured it'd be best to leave it for now.

Legend of Zelda: Explorers of Hyrule - RPG

Postby AngelOzwin » Thu Jun 18, 2015 5:03 am

Ferondir woke, because Zeph was snoring so loud, and almost got mad at him until he remembered he hadn't planned on sleeping at all. It was clear Zeph wouldn't wake for a while, so Ferondir left to find someone else to talk to about his dream.

Della Collern/13/Color-Blind/Tagged: No one/Where: Ship

Della was awake in her room, staring at the ceiling and debating who in their right mind would paint a ship bright purple. Or was it just her colorblindness? She really couldn't tell... She rolled over on her bed, then sat upright, utterly bored. She wanted to leave the room but she was worried the others wouldn't be awake and she didn't want to wake anyone up. She always got up early, but from what she could tell, boys liked to sleep in early.
