Feel free to ask if you have any questions. Also, I didn't know what gait the horse was in so I went with the closest which was collective trot.

I think if I was to tell you what you did right/ wrong, I would just be repeating Gator~ but here we go

Overall, I see that you put great effort into him/ her. Best thing for you would be to draw the bone structure then build around, I can see in some spot where you have become "overwhelmed" and started to wing it. Draw where you're comfortable BUT sketch where you struggle. Work on structure the most, your proportions are good. Also with refs, refs are not meant to be copied, they're meant to be studied (look at the angles, proportion, etc. Not lines), if you are struggling with refs, then you are trying to copy. Lastly, don't ever be afraid to ask for help ^-^ Most artist are extremely friendly to those that wish to learn.

That makes tons of sense, thank you so much for that! Do you have any tips of lining? I seem to get sketches that are good, but
then when I line is looks flat and unnatural. Any tips?

Oh goodness, depth comes with time I'm afraid to say, but one thing that can help is details. Details can go a long way but are sadly overlooked. Once you start shading, that helps a lot too.
