XerinAround 7 years ago, a secret laboratory was set up in Africa in a remote jungle. They were testing animals for medical benefit, or so they told anyone who found them. The real reason was never known, as the lab was abandoned after suspicions were aroused and, as the years wore on, fell into disrepair. Apparently, they had created a strange small mammal that could use it's tail to fly. They did not want them to breed, so they were all females. At abandonment, a small amount of these creatures were left behind. They escaped, and bred with the native squirrels, which were their closest natural relative. Now, none of the original lab animals are likely alive- they had very poor instincts and survival traits(fault of the scientists). But, their offspring, who had the good traits of both the squirrels and the mutated animals, were supreme survivors. Only recently were they seen, as the population had a sudden growth spurt.
In an effort to protect this new species, called Xerin, a sanctuary was set up for breeding and raising. A select few will be able to raise some from babies to when they are ready to be released or some permanently kept.Xerin, for the most part, have the anatomy of a squirrel. But there are differences- small ears, large strangely colored eyes, small paws, and a very fluffy, thick tail. But the strangest of all- they have no back legs. And they can fly. By whipping their tails like a helicopter's blades, they can lift off short distances. They can hop on their tails sometimes. Their flexible tails can turn on a dime, and using both their tail and front paws they can sort of walk like a four-legged animal. It seems hard, but it comes very naturally to Xerin.
As with most squirrels, when babies are born, the father leaves and the mother cares for the young. Usually males leave as soon as they are old enough to fend for themselves, but the females usually stay in a pack until they find a mate for the first time. Then their pack is their children.
RulesAll of Tess's rules.
Basic etiquette- should I really have to tell you?
Do not beg for customs, whitelist, etc.
No more than 1 growing adopt at a time unless I allow it.
Listen to me and the mods- when we tell you to do something on this page, please do not disobey us. Enough of that could get you on the Blacklist.
Do not remove my signature, claim the art, lineart, or species as your own, and do not reproduce or copy it.
WhitelistThese people get priveledges, but are usually only mods.
Me, of course.
BlacklistFor rule breakers - Cannot adopt ever again, pets will be repossessed (or until suspending is over)
None, good.

BreedingXerin can breed once a week. Customs can breed. If you want to breed with another player's pet, they have to agree and you will both get 1 offspring.
My pets or wild Xerin will be free to breed any time. With this, 1 offspring will go to you if one of your Xerin is a parent. Others will be up for action, raffle, or just adoption, or they can go live as wild. (And a few times I'll take one too.

But only if no one gets them after a few days.)

No, I did not come up with the name randomly. I actually did some RESEARCH on squirrels and there is a type of African squirrel called Xerini and so that is where I got the name. A better name than esquirels.
This is so boring... The reason why I have not posted any more is because sadly I cannot get to the program that I need to do this.... (By the way, my program, I have to do all of these by copying, pixel by pixel, the original. And I have to count a lot. So don't be complaining.) Does anyone think I need anything more? More species information? Suggestions are welcome.
