rhianna - scientists - cryokenisis and power sensing - tagged; adelaide - ooc; ---

xxxRhianna looked down as a bullet whizzed in between them, catching Adelaide's shin. Almost absently, she numbed the area around it with a sheen of frost, dulling any pain and keeping it from bleeding further. Her partner seemed to be deep in thought and didn't say anything, a rather troubled look on her face. A few other rebels were running into the woods with them, but there really wasn't any kind of organized escape attempt. How could they, really, when faced with the carnage and death back at the camp? It was slightly troubling; Rhianna had never seen Rick react in such a way. He must be getting senile in his old age if he suddenly wanted to kill instead of capture the mutants. And why hadn't she seen any mutants fighting along side the mercenaries? Bullets and guns were all well and good, but she had taken down one of them easily enough.
xxxAmateurs. Rick was really letting his military-esque force go.
xxxSlowing to a job as the sounds of gunfire faded behind them, Rhianna paused to catch her breath, glancing over both herself and Adelaide for injuries. Aside Adelaide's grazed shin, they appeared to have come out of it just fine. Impressive, with all the firepower the mercenaries had been bristling with. Like she had said, amateurs. As they came to a stop, she saw Adelaide's face shift from deep thought to worry to anger all at once, and she whirled on her suddenly, eyes sparking. "Just what the hell were you thinking, stopping to pass a message on to Rick?!" She jabbed a finger at Rhianna's chest, and on instinct, a wall of ice formed in front of her, three inches thick and spanning the space between them. Rhianna dropped it a moment later, realizing Adelaide's intentions had been to attack or even hurt her. It seem the lab had gotten to even her, despite the fact she hadn't fought for over three years.
xxxPausing to focus on Adelaide's rant once more, she allowed the words to wash over her like waves on a shore. "You froze one of them, with god-knows how many others just waiting to pull the trigger! You careless, stupid... idiot!" Silence fell between them for a few moments, worry in Adelaide's gaze and annoyance in her own. The other girl roughly wiped at her eyes, and Rhianna's annoyance faded, though not all the way. Adelaide's misplaced anger and worry was out of concern for her. Still, her tone wasn't gentle in her reply. "First of all, I'm not a child, so don't try to treat me like one. I can send Rick a message if a wish, it isn't really your concern. Perhaps it was unwise to do so at that time, but nothing bad came of it, so there really isn't any cause for your anger." Another short silence followed, and she softened her tone slightly. "They were more concerned with capturing or killing as many mutants as they could, if one of their own fell they moved on and most likely paid it no attention. And like I said, I'm fine so don't worry about it."
xxxDeeming the conversation over and done with, Rhianna lowered her gaze to Adelaide's shin, scrutinizing it. "I don't think you have any shrapnel or pieces of the bullet in you, since it only grazed it. I can keep up the numbness for as long as you like, but it would be best to find some type of bandage for it nevertheless, It doesn't look that deep, fortunately." Briskly, Rhianna brushed herself off and took a glance around, trying to determine their location. "We should probably find the other rebels, since Rick pretty much left us for dead. It would be no use going back. We could travel with them for a bit just since there's more safety in numbers. Not that we need safety of course, we're too good for anyone to catch us!" She offered Adelaide a smile, knowing she was still probably angry with her. Adelaide was more the type to discuss feelings and express them, but Rhianna disliked both actions. She didn't mind Adelaide did those things, but minded being roped into doing so herself. They still had a mission to complete, more or less, and she distracted herself with that.

{smith || rebels || shapeshifting, poison immunity || tagged; quinn, evelyn, austin}

Smith rolled his shoulders restlessly as the stranger spoke, pitch black eyes flicking between him and Evelyn. A part of him wanted to stop him half-way through his sentence, order that he explain who he was and just what he was thinking, acting as if he was part of the group... and yet, he felt increasingly torn - there he was, holding a wounded rebel in his arms when moments earlier he was on the brink of abandoning it all out of sheer hatred and spite. And for a split second his expression shifted to contempt, barely noticeable on his scorpion face. All of them could not be punished for the selfishness of just two; it would make him just as despicable.

With careful detachment, Smith took note of each injury as it was mentioned. Clearly, since both of them were standing, it was nothing too tragic. Tragic or not, he resented the idea of going to Santiago for help. "If we can find him." He hissed, rolling his shoulders again. More or less trapped (or at the very least held from sudden movement) by the girl in his arms, the steadily building irritation regarding the geokinetic and his pet had nowhere to go. Except in their fearless leader's general direction. "They took a different path. If we cut across here, we should catch up."

And that was that - he had nothing else to say on the topic which wouldn't involve punching something because his feelings were destructive as a rule of thumb and the personal factor of the situation only made it sting more. Shouldering his way past the stranger (and hardly caring if he caught his wounded arm), Smith started off into the forest, the weight of his morphed body leaving a good enough path for the other two to follow.

He had to admit that he was surprised (and pleased in a hateful sort of way) when he felt a familiar rumble running through the ground beneath his feet. Weaker than usual, and faint - but easy enough to trace back to its center. And the scene he uncovered... he narrowed his eyes. How tragic, how romantic, how fitting for these star-crossed lovers, he thought. With tenderness reserved for those who hadn't done one of the million things which set him off, Smith laid the girl down on a patch of thick moss, then stepped down into the ditch where Santiago and Erin lay - wasting no time before he delivered a firm kick to the former's side. When there was no response, he gave the best annoyed expression he could in his shifted form.

"Evelyn. I know your hands are burned. But could you try, somehow, to wake this jackass up?"

{adelaide || scientists || teleportation, enhanced strength || tagged; rhianna}

Though surprised, she barely reacted to the sudden appearance of a physical wall between them - after all, it was just the materialisation of the emotional walls which the Ice Queen carried like a second skin, and which Adelaide had considerable practice in dealing with. She saw the annoyance in the other girl's eyes and resisted the urge to scoff - how like her, to dismiss Adelaide's concern out of hand, with her detached attitude, with her apparent inability to empathize. She was swept along by both her own irritation and the increasing pace of Rhianna's response, once again amazed how quickly the cryokinetic boxed off one conversation (one set of calculations, one set of platitudes) and moved on to another.

For the first time, her attention was drawn to the wound on her shin (and the apparently thoughtful procedure Rhianna had carried out). In a display equaling that of the Ice Queen herself, Adelaide flashed a smile that hardly reached her eyes, then spun around to face the forest, face what she hoped was the direction the others had run in. "It's fine. Let's go." She tossed the words over her shoulder with as much nonchalance as she could muster - if her emotions were an inconvenience, then she wouldn't bother Rhianna with them.

Evelyn Symphony Redfern-Rebel-Visions and healing abilities- with Austin, Smith, Quinn, Erin, and Santiago.

Evelyn flinched slightly at Smith's reply. He seemed angry or something. She shrugged it off as him being angry at the people who attacked them. "We will find him. He can't be too far. I bet he has already healed Erin and is just waiting for us to meet up with him." She said hopefully. She sighed softly when Smith shouldered past Austin. "Don't mind him. He'll warm up to you eventually." She said, though she didn't know if that was true or not. Still holding on to Austin's hand, she followed Smith. It wasn't long before they found the two men, and at first Evelyn was glad until she saw the state they were in. She turned to Austin as Smith stepped into the ditch. "You should sit down. You're probably dizzy from the wound on your head so its best not to over do it." She said. She winced slightly at the sound of Smith kicking Santiago. She let her hand slip out of Austin's and made her way into the ditch. She glanced up at Smith with a small, disapproving frown before she knelt down beside Santiago and Erin. She gently grasped Santiago's shoulders and shook them. "Wake up Santiago." she said in a soothing voice, leaning down so she was closer to him.

Austin Carter-19-Shifter/

Austin sighed as the man carrying the girl pushed past him, not exactly gently. He nodded and sighed as Evelyn told him he'd wrm up to him eventually. He followed Evelyn and Smith to where two men lay, whom he assumed to be Santiago and Erin. Smith delivered a swift kick to one man, Santiago. Evelyn sighed and released Austin's hand, causing him to sigh a bit. She was shaking him, gently asking him to wake up. He wasnt too sure he would, but he was breathing, along with Erin. He sat down, hoping his head would stop throbbing. She had hit her head too, but she didn't seem to worried about herself. He admired that. Here he was, supposed to be strong and useful, yet he was sitting here trying to make his head stop spinning and watching as she worked on healing the groups leader.

'I got troubled thoughts and the self-esteem to match, what a catch, what a catch, and all I can think of is the way I'm the one who charmed, the one who gave up on you'

A small grunt came from under ruffled sheets, phone on the side lighting up and vibrating all over the table. With a generic waking up sound a hand grasped at the technology and fiddled with buttons until the damned thing shut up.
This was Donnies wake up call every morning since experiment Ether had claimed his body. He had been put into a holding within wherever he was taken, he guessed some giant warehouse, the disused kind with chains and sheet metal and they always have that secret entrance through the old, rusty cargo container, either way it contained scientists and science-y...things.

With some effort he managed to roll out of his bunk and throw on some clothes, the traditional worn, faded and ripped skinny jeans of which he needed a tight belt to keep around his waist. He then threw on a grey-yellow shirt thing the scientists had so kindly gifted him with a serial number and name on a badge on the right hand side and finally his very worn but very comfortable hi-top trainers, they were a cheap knock off of some nike shoe but they did the job. All of his belongings were locked away in a locker somewhere, probably being tested or some nonsense.
He looked at his hands, rotating them and wiggling his fingers, just a week before he woke up to find feathers and black skin coating him up to his elbows and some professionals prodding and poking away. From the nonsense they told him he worked out that an experiment had taken place and now he was better than before, which in some ways was an interesting development in his oh so wonderful life so far.
As soon as he was ready, black hair ruffled and stuck to one side thanks to his pillow , he headed out of the room and into the blindingly clean corridors, he headed down the right corridor, he needed food. Food and orange juice that is. It didnt take him long to find his bearings in this place but what did take him a while to understand was the tasks he was given now he had this new power. According to some guy with an annoyingly scruffy goatee, other mutants existed, created by the same people but had gone haywire, off the radar, AWOL, you get the idea. Now, according to beard man he needed to track down and retrieve these other mutants for "safety purposes". Donnie had no quarrel with this ideology, but he wasnt exactly raring to get back onto the streets, he hadnt even mastered flight yet and he'd never really punched anyone before, all he could do was ,rather spectacularly, recite Edgar Allan Poes' 'The Raven' off by heart much to his own amusement and the annoyance of others.
Donnie soon gathered enough food to feed three people and found his own little corner and tucked in to the many bagels he had procured, happily gathering up the crumbs to which he was surprised that he wasnt pecking at.

{ Rhianna Fruend

Postby gallifrey falls. » Wed Apr 15, 2015 12:14 pm

rhianna - scientists - cryokenisis and power sensing - tagged; adelaide - ooc; ---

xxxRhianna watched Adelaide go with some exasperation. It was clear she was upset with her response, if one could judge by the rather cold smile she gave. Ice Queen. She was no teleplath, but Rhianna could almost hear the scathing nickname, as clear as if Adelaide had said it out loud. As they walked through the woods, she kept an eye out for any signs of the other rebels. Shooting a glance at Adelaide out of hte corner of her eye, Rhianna formed a crown made entirely on ice on her head. Its cool weight pressed upon her head slightly, but not in an uncomfortable way. It did gleam in the sunlight, however, and it was sure to catch Adelaide's attention. She wasn't sure if she had created the crown to try smooth things over or just amuse herself.
xxxA sudden vibration came from her back pocket, and she pulled out the phone Rick had given her before the mission, her face twisting in distaste at the caller ID. Rick Renynolds. Or, Ricky, as she had him in the phone, but it was him nonetheless. Her lips were thin as she answered the call, and her voice flat as she spoke. "What." A short pause, as Rick spoke. Rhianna looked even more angry, if that was possible, and the air temperature around her dipped severely before she reined in her temper. "You want us to complete the mission?" Another pause. "How dare you? I've met plenty of douchebags in my life, Rick-ey," she said, drawing out the 'e'. "But congratulations, you're the biggest! First of all, you think I'll be polite after what you did, and then you demand me to bring you the mutant we were sent to collect? As if! Here's some advice: go screw yourself." Her face changed from anger to skepticism as the lead scientist spoke again. "Why don't I believe you? I find it hard to believe some kind of anti-mutant organization that has the funds to hire crazy good assassins grew right under Precision Horizons nose. Call me when you actually have a good excuse, hmm?"
xxxBeep. Rhianna stowed the phone in her pocket once more, doing her best to push the conversation to the back of her head. Right now there were more pressing concerns, such as finding the rebels and convincing them they were still on their side. She didn't explain the conversation to Adelaide, figuring she would still be upset with her for earlier and not wish to speak right now. The sounds of voices up ahead drew her attention, and Rhianna slowed. She recognized them as those of Evelyn and the shifter she had been with before the attack.
xxxChecking to make sure Adelaide was with her, Rhianna stepped into the clearing, the ice crown still on her head. She noticed it a moment later, but it wasn't that important - if anything, they would think her childish for doing so and perhaps underestimate her. Though, given the fact she was unigured following such a savage firefight, perhaps that was being optomistic. Flashing the group a shaky smile, Rhianna frowned at the sight of Evelyn, and another wounded mutant next to her. "Are you guys alright?"

It could have been months, or it could have been mere seconds that he'd spent drifting in the other place he and Santiago shared. But it was bound to happen sometime. At one point, his awareness shifted. His mind, his consciousness, stirred. The pain had been carving away the thick cloak of sluggish content, and it had finally made it through. So Erin woke up.

It wasn't obvious; it was nothing like what you'd read in books or watch in the movies. There was no heaving breaths, no sudden movements. There was no energy to do anything put remember to breathe past the pain, suck in each rattling mouthful before he lost the courage. He was numb, each limb heavy as lead and immovable as boulders. As immovable as Santiago, whose length was stretched out across Erin's chest.

"Santiago," the word was hardly even an exhale. He could feel the wet flutter of his lung, knew he was coughing up blood as a sudden fit hit him. Knew that the little amount Santiago had been able to heal wasn't enough. Oh, God, I'm going to die.

He could hear voices, could pick out Evelyn's as her silhouette loomed over them. Could hear Smith's gravel-rough voice. "Evelyn," Erin wheezed, fighting to keep his eyes open and focused on her, "I think I'm dying." It was no big revelation; the patch of blood-soaked earth told the tale well enough.

(I was very bored. So I woke him up.)

Evelyn Symphony Redfern-Rebel-Visions and healing abilities- with Austin, Smith, Quinn, Erin, and Santiago.

Evelyn's attention switched to Erin when he spoke Santiago's name. She quickly tried to push Santiago off of him. It hurt to do with her burnt hands but she tried any way. "Can you help me Smith?" She asked when she felt a pang of pain from the bullet wound in her shoulder. She stopped pushing only when Erin said her name. She glanced down at him, biting her bottom lip softly. She glanced up at Smith when Erin said he thought he was dying. Her wide green eyes were filled with worry and were beginning to swell with unshed tears. "Shh. Don't say that Erin. You're going to be okay. We are going to get Santiago off of you and then I will patch you up as best as I can. You won't die. Y-you can't d-die." She said softly, Her voice cracking slightly at the end. She smoothed out his hair in a soothing manor. "Just stay calm. We are all going to be just fine." She said, hoping that she was right.

She barely heard Rhi speak to her over the pounding in her ears from when she hit her head on the tree and her rapid breathes. Though she did turn her head to look at the girl. "We will be just fine. Everyone is going to be okay. We have to be." She told her before turning back to look at Erin. She let out a low, shaky breath before letting her head hang, her messy hair covering her face like a curtain. Her tears finally escaped as her shoulders began to shake with silent sobs. It was strange for her to break down like this. She had only cried like this when she had escaped the scientists and her friend, Charlotte, had been killed. "I'm so sorry guys. I-I couldn't stop this. I di-didn't see all of this coming. Its my fault the camp is destroyed. My fault that Ricky is dead. My fault that you are all injured. I-I should have been a-able to stop this." She managed to say through her sobs.

(Can someone say major meltdown? Lol)

Austin Carter/19/Shifter/Empathy

Austin watched in shock as a man-Erin-woke up and began having a coughing fit. Blood spilled ever so slightly from his mouth as he choked out that he was going to die. Evelyn began talking to him in a soothing voice, telling him he was going to be fine as two others entered the clearing, one wearing an ice crown. He gawked at her curiously for a moment, and as she asked if they were okay, Evelyn broke. She snapped, tears running down her face and sobs shaking her small body. He grabbed Santiago and pulled him off of Erin, snapping at the girl with the ice crown. Try to do something about Erin and Santiago, Smith, see if you can do something with..uhm.. Her He pointed to the girl in Smith's arms. I'm gonna try to calm Evelyn down. His instinct to lead kicked in quickly and efficiently. He grabbed Evelyn's had and stood her up, pulling her away from the crowd of people and sitting down a few feet away. He pulled her onto his lap and ran a hand through her hair. He had no other way to calm her down. This is what he'd do for any of the children at Precision Horizons whenever they were thrown into the cage with him. Evelyn, listen. None of this is your fault, I promise. The future is never set in stone. It can be changed and rewritten. Even people who have trained all their life with Precision Horizons can't see everything. Its okay. Its okay. He cooed softly.
